I get a fresher version of Fahrenheit by Dior. I did not get a chance to test it thoroughly or on my skin, but the correlation to Fahrenheit was def there, as many people mentioned. Can't wait to spend more time with it. I do like this though, so far.

There is an overbearing note or accord in this that almost makes me sick to my stomach. Someone else mentioned Ben Gay, which is a pretty good description of what this note smells like.

The dry-down is a lot more tolerable than the disgusting opening, but all in all this stuff is pretty bad.

If you want to smell like Ben Gay and patchouili, buy Dunhill Fresh.

Dunhill Fresh was a gift from a co-worker, who doubtlessly intended to provide moi with some well deserved joy and temporal lobe satisfaction. Unlike Preferred Stock (reviewed elsewhere), Dunhill Fresh was an inoffensive, somewhat pleasant foray into the realm of somnambulism. Unlike Dolce Gabana's PH, this fragrance was (to me) one dimensional, lacking in any hint of vice or moral self flagellation. I could not detect the orris or patchouli.

In short, this would make a laudable introduction for someone under 30 to the world of summer, clean scents. Scents which, unlike the great Dunhill pipe tobacco blends of old, stay simple and true to form.

somewhat recommended.

Reminds me of Davidoff with basil, floral top. It is nice and ordinary.

I'm never exactly sure what I think about Dunhill Fresh... it's nothing special, but at the same time it's not bad, and while on one hand it is seemingly just another fresh men's fragrance, it offers some things the others don't... read on if you care...

This is not strong, even with excessive application - but that's too be expected of something actually named 'fresh'. The initial 'green notes' I detect are reminiscent of watermelon. Not actual watermelon, but the 'candy' watermelon scent I associate with, say, Jolly Ranchers. The only thing is, this light fruit scent isn't sweet, it's fairly dry. If this was all I detected the scrubbing would start now, but there's something - some note - that creates the slightest sharp/spicy balance to the freshness. Perhaps it is the 'basil' note listed, or perhaps it is something from the heart/base.

I don't get much development on my skin, either that or the fragrance isn't strong enough to appreciate its base. What fruitiness there is slowly fades, leaving a pleasant, but unremarkable, floral/green accord that lightly persists a couple hours and fades out. I haven't tried massively overapplying to see if I can detect the base notes.

I don't find myself ever reaching for D-Fresh, but I'd choose it before any number of others in its categories. At least its inexpensive!

another "me too" has that faintly smoky, mineralic whiff that pops up in everything Boss and Axe do as well as cheap deodorants worldwide. Definitely try before you buy but not for me.

Great summer fragrance. Last long on my dry skin which is rare for designer fragrance offerings. The patchouli is very, well, fresh and over the fragrance just smells great. But this isn't a clean fresh like Mugler Cologne or Acqua di Gio. Still it's a nice green fresh floral.

Most scents that go by ‘fresh’ are difficult to love or hate – they smell inoffensive, but they possess a generic character that is hard to get excited about either. Dunhill Fresh falls in this category and while I find it to be slightly more interesting to my nose than average, it has below average longevity.

Very plain, clean aquatic fresh.
Doesn't come off generic though.
This is by a wide margin my favorite fresh aquatic yet.
Nothing smells cheap or out of place.
Very plain, very good.

I have a grudge with this fragrance. The color is interesting; the bottle is heavy and masculine..and finally..the scent! Its FRESH indeed!!! VERY fresh...TOO fresh! Even Eternity to me gives off a better 'freshness,'..a more APPEALING freshness than this does. I think it is too synthetic smelling.. nothing you would get from showering, or swimming in the ocean.
ADG is FRESH...dunhill fresh just ISN'T.
The thumbs???...

Just tried Dunhill Fresh today. Nothing like Dunhill Edition which is one of my favorites. The "fresh" comes out on the baby powder (for lack of a better comparison) side rather than the clean side. Then there is a peppery undertone clashing with it. Just not my taste.

The frequently contradictory opinions of Basenotes members continues to amaze me.

In this case, I think I agree with the producers of the fragrance: Dunhill Fresh is a take your pick
1. a light version of the original 1934 fragrance,
2. a "fresh" version of the orignal, or
3. a warm weather version of the original.

There's a great deal gooding for this fresh version of a classic: it's that the freshness also seems natural, it lasts a good amount of time, and true to it's name, I can detect notes of the original classy fragrance.

As for the comparision to something like "Cool Water," I say absolutely not! I get virtually none of the headache making, nasal passage irritating artificial freshness notes that I get from many modern fragrances such as Davidson's "Cool Water," Calvin Klein's "Etermity," and even the current version of Burberry's "Burberry For Men."

I give it more than one Thumbs Up.

I respectfully disagree with John, this fragrance by Dunhill really does smell like you have been at the beach. The only problem is I think I finally know now that I would prefer a synthetic Acqua smell than actually smelling like I have been at the beach!

Sampled this at the department store. Sorry, but this smells like Ben Gay liniment to me. If I wanted to smell like an arthritic grandmother, I guess I'd just go for the real thing.

I'm slightly disappointed with this, since I thought the 2003 Dunhill would be fantastic if only it dropped some of the heavier lemon notes. My prayers were answered, but I feel like the fresh concept wasn't taken in the right direction. Dunhill Fresh lives up to its name as being fresh, but it isn't particularly refreshing. The added freshness comes in a form I can only compare to the smell of a new pair of shoes - fresh indeed, but synthetic and not something I'd put on myself. It isn't appalling at all, but I can think of others that pull off the concept in a more clean, less synthetic way.

Good, "fresh" scent, as the name implies. A good alternative to Coolwater or Polo Blue if you ever get sick of those. The spray is nice, although the glass is a bit slippery, I feel like it'll fall everytime I use it. You'd also think that Dunhill would be able to come up with a better name.... Regardless, the scent is good.

BASED ON THESE REVIEWS, IT SEEMS GUYS EITHER LOVE IT OR HATE IT. I LOVE IT. I CAN'T EVEN IMAGINE NOT LOVING IT. I THINK THE NEW DUNHILL HOMME AND DUNHILL FRESH ARE TWO OF THE BEST, NEW FRAGRANCES PRODUCED IN THE PAST FEW YEARS. JOSHAUGUSTT

Great fresh violety scent. Reminds a bit of Fahrenheit, in fact I would say its like a modern take on it. Very nice stuff!

Again, I am a big dunhill fan so perhaps you should be warned about that from the start. I really, really like this scent though. Of the "newer" line of dunhill's it is probably my second favorite after dunhill (I think that is all it is called but the newer man's scent from 2003 at any rate). As gio said, dunhill fresh is exactly as the name implies it is very fresh and clean smelling. Almost crisp, if that makes any sense. And like all of dunhill's scents (to me anyway) it seems very sophisticated and not overpowering or anything like that. If applied properly it is hard for me to see this scent giving anyone a headache, but then everyone is different. This fragance is good for daytime wear and I would say mostly during warmer weather, though it could be used year around. I also really like the bottles that Fresh and dunhill come in. They are very classy looking and feeling. Big thumbs up here.

Perfect for summer, very fresh, patchouli note remembers something of Chanle's Allure.

If by "fresh" they meant astringent, yes it is. There is nothing new or better here. Eau de Cartier has a better Juniper quality. Au Thé Blanc is fresh without the tartness of Dunhill Fresh. Hope I never have to be cooped up in a car with someone wearing too much of this as it might send me from 'neutral' to 'thumbs down.'
