I agree with Trebor. This does not strike me as a unisex fragrance. It starts out very sweet gourmand and morphs into a sweet, nutty vanilla tobacco...with the emphasis on sweet and nutty and not on tobacco. This is a pedestrian fragrance especially since it comes from L'Artisan. I usually find that the L'Artisan fragrances (not the Serge Lutens fragrances) are harder to wear, but this one is a cinch! There is no sillage and the longevity is lacking.

A pleasant vanilla and almond scent that comes across as more feminine than unisex. Its longevity is also quite poor.

Wonderful. The scent that sucked me into niche.
This is the truest almond note I've found in any perfume, and I've tried a few. The almond has a bitter edge, never veering into the candied cherry-Amaretto-marzipan sweetness that many almond scents suffer from. The almond fades quickly, too quickly for me (30 mins max), and is replaced with a fluffy, gourmand vanilla. Longevity on me is remarkably good for a L'Artisan - it lasts 5-7 hours easily. On fabric, it lasts days, and seems to retain more of the initial almond scent.

Well, it has been already said : Awfully weak and distant scent that is extremely linear, slightly sweet, milky and powdery. Could be worn by both sexes.

Almond and vanilla. Vanilla and almond. Very shy. And as always with these L`Artisan fragrances, it has absolutely marvelous name to it.

It would take huge struggle for me to write a lenghtier review out of this simple scent.

I like it but it it's a little too doughy, a little smoke or wood would make it a keeper for me, since the almond & vanilla are real nice in this one.

Ooooooo..... angel-food numminess. This is everything I've ever wanted a gourmand to be: light, airy, fluffy, well-whipped, subtle in its sweetness, and overwhelmed by egg whites! If egg whites had a scent... (hmmmm!)

I have yet to try any of the Demeter cake scents (other than Vanilla Cake Batter, which is a *wee* bit too buttery, but still a great gourmand); I can only HOPE they smell this lovely. Angel-food cake. I'm smitten.

A nice, light, fresh almond scent with a hint of vanilla, not too sweet and not cloying. Quite linear. Unisex, leaning a bit more on the feminine side, but can be weared easily by a man. More a skin-scent type of fragrance with zero longevity - doesn't last longer than an hour on my skin.

this this was my first artisan. and while i stocked up to about ten of their fragrances, this is one of those that never can miss. i am working in the niche parfumery business and accumulated a lot of knowlegde about the fragrances. in the artisan scents i found my own very personal satisfaction. my skin is having a very light vanilla-sweet undertone by nature and opens up every scent quite quickly, making even the heavy ones airy. unfortunately most of artisans don't have the best longevity but maybe this is also part of their charme. they are never too much or invadent.
now jour de fete is surely a comforting scent, but one of the more complex and less banal.the almond in it is nearly green and crispy. the vanilla velvety soft but slightly bitter and powdery. it is not a soffocatingly sweet fragrance. it reminds of almond cookies but without their buttery heavyness. for me a real winner when i need something comforting but don't want to smell a whole bunch of girlie girls i need.
light but sophisticated

I picture this day of celebration as held in honour of a cabinet makers daughter, with almond cake and champagne served in the workshop, and fresh wood shavings on the floor. Like many others of the L´Artisans, JdF combines elegancy with an undisguised and natural appearance, and like many of Giacobettis creations it is beautifully centered around a few playful elements. I confess to being inclined towards the minimalistic, and to loving almonds in most interpretations. I know this is something of a love-or-hate ingredient, but I can´t help to think that JdF could hit home even with an almond-disliker. Despite the faint sweetness added by vanilla, this almond has green and a little dry quality, almost as if the shell was still left on. I figure this is partially caused by the wheat note, which rounds this composition off beautifully. I have found it to be quite longlasting, on my skin definitely still noticable after 10 hours, and effective all through the workday. It also leaves lovely scent trails on clothes worn with it.

I would consider this one of those 'nostalgia' type scents. To me, it's reminiscent of the cinnamon sugar covered nuts they sell at little kiosks in the mall, which I might add, are quite tasty. I would hardly consider this a sexy scent, but it's very comforting and evokes good memories. Jour de Fete is something you wear for yourself, to invoke a daydream vacation.

Sadly it's not available in the US very readily. This scent is wonderful. While it's compared by some to Play-doh, that's not the thrust of the scent. It's almond and white musk and really stunning. Sadly though, it's hard to find in these parts.

Absolutely beautiful - like an almond cookie, powdered with vanilla. Sadly, it disappears almost immediately on me leaving a light hint of almon-tinged white musk. If they ever make an extreme version, I'm all over it, though to be honest, i Profumi's Talco Delicato and Etro Heliotrope are just as good.
