First thing I notice other than the restrained sweet orange opening is the layer of film it leaves on the skin upon application. It hints at something dense and substantial which unfortunately this scent is not - a generous application seems mandatory if you wish to experience the leather. And that's what BLACK really is to me - a black leather experience. Not the smooth buttery sweetness of Daim Blond's suede gloves nor the salt-tinged realism of Cuir Ottoman's leather furniture but rather the feel of well-polished black leather boots as I recall my early days as a police cadet. Without a doubt, an underrated softly masculine leather scent.

i was totally caught off-guard with this one. i expected yet another designer frag with a blast of citrus and what have you. but this, this ones different.
First thing one would notice when they spray this one is the "refined" approach. it doesnt attack your senses with those overwhelming top notes+alchohol, no, nada, instead this one attacks ones senses in a way which is most pleasant and welcoming. the mood is definitely dark, like black satin..the fruity notes, quite controlled, there is a velvet like note of plum blended with utterly delicious notes of fennel, pink pepper with hints of anise ...i'd do anything for this phase to last forever. it's that good! i can't help but tell, i felt totally "superb & refreshing" when i wore this. there is this amazing aura of positiveness in it. very confident in approach. By Mid notes, a very powdery accord of musk on leather sweeps in adding to the depth of the wonderful top notes. The interpretation of Musk & leather in this scent is not like most (designers) out there, there is an air of mytery about it. by base notes, this is scent swirls up with lovely notes of musk & amber sprayed on leather kinda accord and stays that way...
i can't help but give this one good 8-10 sprays...i would always be in a mood to pamper myself wiht this one. a big assed thumbs up.

With disappointments like X limited and Blue emotion, I was undoubtedly wary of all things aigner. But boy was i impressed by black. Scented woods are pretty dominant. The slight tint of musk in the dry down is fantastic. Weirdly I got a little of roasted nuts from it? Leathery most definitely, but not very strong and positively so. I found it quite hard to make of when it came to the notes breakdown. But its definitely a scent worth buying.

I suppose I'm not a fan of this. I had wanted to try all of Aigner's scents, Black was my first choice in first to sample. Very sweet opening. Reminded me of the smoothness of Armand Basi Homme (black and white rectangular bottle). But for some reason I cannot smell if anymore after a while. And it doesn't even creep up on you and it's not due to overapplying. I like the sweet soft leather in this but I will stick with others for longevity and potency. Good if you need something more subtle for a few hours, otherwise, I'm not too eager to go and get myself a bottle no matter how much of a fan of Aigner I am.

It's a pity that any perfume offering by Etienne Aigner is often overlooked and none deserves more respect than Aigner Black. Oozing class and sophistication, Black is superbly assured and classy. Pretty linear, it's just lack any developement of surprise and excitement to elevate it to great. But still afterall a very fine perfume and deserves to be better known.

I bought this one out of desperation - to cure my winter blues and what a buy it was. Aigner Black is very masculine scent housed in a very elegant bottle with a leather cap. I really enjoy the leather note contained in the juice itself. It is also well suited for daywear into office, as it gets lots of compliments from fellow female co-workers... It also goes well with the rest of my collection.

Very sweet opening which I personally did not like, thogh I normally like gourmands, try before you buy.

To me, Aigner Black is a pretty BLACK smelling scent.. I love it.. I remember having read somewhere that it contains some pure Black Musk and if you ask me, it does smell like it really has healthy doses of Black Musk added it for good measure. Some people say it smells like the men's cologne by John Varvatos but the one and ONLY thing common between these two is the leather note... apart from that, these two are completely different beasts altogether... once settled on the skin, they take the completely opposite paths, atleast on mine they do.

I find Aigner Black to be a tad more sweeter than John Varvatos.... and definitely more "sexy" of the two after it settles. Think of Aigner Black as Angelina Jolie and John Varvatos as Jessica Alba... while both are sexy, Jolie is more "sultry" .... probably not an ideal correlation.. but you get the idea ;-)

Dear Aigner Black

Aigner Black, I love your leather note, sometimes I also hate it. It uplifts me and sometimes it beats me down. I love your sweet notes. I love your insane longevity alongside your controlled but pronounced sillage. I love your bottle. I love your sense of style. But I just don't know where I can wear you. Stick around and maybe when I'm suited and booted. We can take over the world together.

Love

This is an extremely masculine scent. And by no means does that imply that it is concentrated testosterone.

If it was a personality it would be calm, confident, self-assured, and a little relaxed.

Highly underrated and quite the undiscovered gem. Lasts long too.

I really like this scent. When I wear it I think of Harley Davidson and a black jacket with black jeans. Extra masculine and long long lasting. The bottle is cool, with elegant cap. Give it a try!

if you like a solid, no nonsense, woody, warm scent, then this will fit the bill. It's not the usual water downed citrus scent, with lots of "warm" ingredients. It's a clean, strong, and solid new scent from aigner that may soon become a real "find". Try this...You may like it.
