A boring and generic peppery-aquatic fragrance in today's perfumery style. Unremarkable.

Del Mar Baldessarini is meant to evoke the more mature man exploring the world’s oceans and holiday destinations. Does it deliver on that? The answer in mind is sort of.

Despite the ‘oceans’ reference, it’s not at all what I would call an aquatic style of fragrance (a good thing in my opinion – far too many of these out there already!). It’s still fresh, but slightly woody and a little bit spicy. It definitely feels more mature than say your run of the mill Calvin Klein, but it’s not ‘old’ smelling at all.

I feel that as the different Del Mar Editions were released in subsequent years, the Baldessarini line got better at evoking the sort of image they had originally intended with this release.

Don’t get me wrong, I really like this, but I will probably not re-purchase this over Seychelles or Marbella editions. Sillage and longevity are average.

For what it’s worth my personal order of preference for the Del Mar line goes:

    1. Del Mar Seychelles – 5/5
    2. Del Mar Marbella – 4/5
    3. Del Mar Caribbean – 3.5/5
    4. Del Mar Baldessarini – 3/5

Very masculine. A hint of that classic after shave smell. It's got a nice balance of sweet and warm, making it both mature but still energetic, and the hint of aquatic gives it a modern twist.

Del Mar is everyday wear for the mature man, or occassional wear for the younger man in a mature setting.

It's longevity and sillage are both pretty decent but as long as you don't drown yourself in it it's mild enough for any situation where you want to smell nice without offending anyone.

    Chrome???? Did anybody say Chrome?????
The color of the juice reminds me of Chrome, the bottle reminds me of Chrome, is this just a copy of Chrome? If it is, actually is an improvement over Chrome. More masculine, better sillage and logevity than Chrome, and in few words: This is another aquatic, but not "just another aquatic", this has better quality and smells better than the rest of the aquatics there in the market.

    Awesome bottle. The end.

No, seriously. What to say about Del Mar. Well.. having tried the original Baldessarini, and owning Ambre, I find myself wondering wtf. Here we have the Baldessarini brand from Hugo; it's less sythetic, it's more sophisticated, and it had a highly credible image in my mind after having tried both the others.

Baldessarini is like the niche part of Hugo Boss, but Del Mar is totally Hugo Boss. It's cheap smelling, it's synthetic smelling, it lacks any originality. Does it smell bad? No. In fact, few fragrances actually smell "bad" to my nose. Del Mar doesn't smell bad, but it's not even worth sampling, take my word for it.
