I like this, smells sweet like candy and not so boozy to me. Anyway thumbs up for women, only for men that like the sweetest scents.

I’m afraid that Asha’s disappointment with Frapin 1270 is just as grave as mine. This had massive potential to be full-bottle worthy but didn’t really perform as well as expected. The notes are all there, sure, but its development is muddled and confusing, and the tart candy note never completely goes away – the whole gourmand theme overwhelms when, instead, it should have been just a facet.

Originally, I could sense great potential in this (particularly as a boozy version of Arabie with different twists and turns) but its execution and moderate longevity prevents it from scaling such heights.

I will certainly give Frapin 1270 another try in a few months but, while not wanting to completely dispute those who have posted positive reviews, I feel its fate may have simply fallen victim to that dirty word or taboo: ‘reformulation’.

Sweet, tangy, delicious ... but 1270's $$$ thwarts any temptation to own this vapor that puts a virtual Gewürtraminer aftertaste in the back of my throat. This is a quality scent, don't get me wrong, but it's not radically superior to or different from affordable offerings like Chopard Mira Baï or even Britney Spears Believe. (Yes, yes, I realize what I just said.)

After reading about this fragrance, I was expecting something more boozy and far less foody. Between the candied fruit, the tonka, the cacao pod,and the vanilla, I can hardly detect the promising wood and floral notes that I crave.

I am especially sensitive to rich food notes. They tend to take over the whole blend for me. As a result, and unfortunately, 1270 smells to me like a generic, syrupy gourmand.

Not a bad scent, but something just doesn't catch me. The initial blast is quite nice, rich brown liquor and dried fruits, but then all I smell is very ripe plums. I agree with Asha. There are some really interesting notes underneath. Wood, leather, caramel to me. However, that fruitiness just covers them up. I think this is much better for a woman. If those hiding scents would come out more, I'd be more likely to purchase a bottle.

I saw on the blog NowSmellThis that this frag has been revived. The description sounded really interesting, and notes from luckyscent are:

exotic woods, spice, raisin, vine flowers, pepper, candied orange, nut, hazelnut, prune, cocoa, coffee, leather, woods, white honey, vanilla

I must admit, the candy in the candied orange is definitely dominant upon first spray. My first thought was of those sweet and tangy "Lick 'm Aid" candy packets I used to buy as a kid. It had a white candy stick that you lick, then dip into the pouches of fruit flavored sugar (grape and cherry). It was a contrast of sweet and tart, and also had a strong fruity and vanilla combination. That is my initial impression of 1270, but it is barely dry on my wrist right now. Of the notes, I'm really only getting the candied orange, white honey and vanilla. Makes me want to lick myself, lol.

Top notes are fading a little, so the more muted sweet notes are starting to come out. I smell fermented fruit, sweet wine, and a bit of leather. I can barely smell the woods, but I do get the idea of the "aged in oak" quality that wine has. From this, the wood is present in a way, even if it is not a branch or a plank. The fermented quality is a bit sour, but I get the raisin or prune notes, although to my nose it still seems very "grape". The leather adds a bit of bitter and biting quality that stings my nose a little.

Well, it has been 45 minutes now, and although the initial "candy" blast is much subdued, 1270 still smells very tart and fruity. The sweetness is really not very present for me (which is often the case), and the spices are starting to come out a bit now. It is too bad that tart candy note persists, because I can smell something caramel-like below the surface, and it does not go very well with sour candy. The vanilla is getting nice and mellow, though, which is pleasant. Still, that "in your face" tartness is doing the fragrance no favors at this point.

At the 1 hour mark--I am sad to say that this fragrance seems really confused and/or confusing. It has this gorgeous caramel, wood and wine lurking below the surface, and a really dry, puckery, fruity candy on the top keeping it from coming out. It just seems wrong! It could be my skin knocks it out of balance--I am not getting a glass of fine cognac or wine. I guess I can understand why it received mixed reviews on luckyscent. Sort of disappointing

I do not understand why I do not get a similar experience as the other reviewers AT ALL when I wear 1270. Was there a reformulation at some point?

Nice spicy apple accord in the opening, (smells like a proper Calvados) and then more fruits will follow, candied and dried. Serge Lutens, anyone?
Heart of this fragrance smells very plummy to me, make it with the flower, pulp, prune pit and all....drenched in sugar.
Unisex, but by the sweet exotic floral-fruity charachter more suitable for women.

My favorite honey scent, and one of my top boozy scents also. This is a grown-up gourmand, with a honey-centric aesthetic, sweet plump raisins, cognac, woods and a peep of vanilla threading in and out. It lasts and lasts. I have a few samples from Luckyscent, and they're very potent--just a few drops and I'm set for several hours. Luscious and rather decadent. Like a flourless chocolate cake--a little too rich for everyday, and a little too heavy for summer, but a potent treat for occasional indulgence!

Where's the French court painter when you need him? This is a decadently Bourbon banquet of brandy soaked fruit, nuts, honey and wine.

The table is groaning as this gorgeous gourmand weighs it down. Before too long, though, the fruit-laden opening slowly winds down and a gentle after dinner glow commences, with vanilla and honey and coffee for all.

The drydown separates this heavenly fragrance into two distinct parts: a) the ebullient gourmand laughing and eating having a good time and b) the sophisticated gastronome smiling shyly after what can only be described as one hell of a feast.

This is the first Frapin frag I've tried to date, and now I can't wait to sample the others.

The beginning of this wonderful fragrance is a beautiful, smooth, rich, boozy, woodnote and leather accord so rich and spicy that it projects almost an incense note. The opening includes the restrained sweetness of dried fruits that reminds me a bit of the fruit notes in Arabie, but more subtle – more refined – less dramatic - more wearable. Those fruit join the leather to provide an ultra smooth texture to all the accords of the 1270. Besides the fruit, I don’t get much of the other sweetness mentioned by other reviewers – particularly the honey and vanilla: I’m not complaining, I’m completely happy with the dry, smooth woods, the dried fruit, and the leather – they’re perfect. The fragrance exhibits a strong sillage and it has impressive longevity. Definitely unisex. This is one superior fragrance.

Berry and plum compote drizzled with honey followed by a few sniffs and sips of brandy! A tinge of leather, vanilla and wood rounds out this upscale gourmand. I agree with all the previous commentaries and find ROBYOGI's to be most accurate. Heavy, different, intoxicating!

This ends much more woody on me than leathery, which is a shame, as I'm looking for a nice buttery leather scent. Still, a fragrance of amazing character and complexity, mature in that black-tie, classy, sexy way that's more James Bond or Frank Sinatra than mature as in your folks. Well worth a look in for someone looking for a gourmand-type that still somehow smells black tie.

A boozy, almost wine-like (makes sense, huh?) scent with a sweet, warm, smooth drydown of vanilla, woods, and a suede-like leather. I like 1270, but something about it, maybe the over-ripe fruit, makes it lean a tad to the feminine side, sort of the way the plum note in 10 Corso Como shifts that one from the truly unisex column for me. Frapin 1270 is definitely interesting, unique, and multi-faceted, and well worth checking out if you like sweet, boozy, quasi-foody scents. The woodsiness and suede notes keep it from being too sweet or flubby, and make it a wearable and comforting scent. Pretty good, maybe just not for me.

This is my ultimate fall fragrance. I was looking for something with a honey note, and ordered quite a few samples from LuckyScent that featured honey. This one is the winner! Honey, but not girly sweet, this has rich golden honey, sexed up with warm notes of grapes turing into raisins in the sun, spices, cognac, oak and leather. And I love that this lasts on the skin most of the day and goes through several distinct stages, never boring and all parts are fantastic. I'd give it two thumbs up if I could.

This is Wheee !!! such a great foody figgy bit of folly with VSOP cognac undertones,Dare I say foody but not in a bad way -
much more sophisticated than a Comme des garcons "foody" scent like that sweet
series. Vanilla, figs soaked in brandy ,
nutty , orange bits , delicate and sensual honey , perhaps a whiff of grapes from a French vineyard - FABULOUS-NESS !!!!!
A comfort and true feeling of luxury is
about me when I wear this ! Extremely
rich and heart felt work of liquid art.
Exotic, unique , addictive. It slaps
a hum-drum typical Dept. store scent
line up in the face without mercy !

A surprisingly boozey blend of exotic woods, spice, raisin, vine flowers, pepper, candied orange, nut, hazelnut, prune, cocoa, coffee, leather, woods, white honey, vanilla. Starts out rich and sweet but then mellows into a slightly floral note set against a buttery leather. Wonderful stuff and quite unique. Not for those looking for clean or light scents!
