Reviews of Aromatic Chypre ![]() SirSlarty United StatesShow all reviews | Citrus and patchouli. Not a chypre. Still nice. Nicer than most of the ones from the 80's/90's. Needs to last longer. My favorite of the Pecksniff fragrances. 5th September, 2008. |
| foetidus United StatesShow all reviews | The aromatic part is well named, but I’m not so sure about the chypre. Aromatic Chypre opens with a strongly aromatic bergamot / lavender accord – it is potent and masculine. The pyramid claims a marine note in the opening, but that escapes me. The middle notes move in and adds even more masculinity by means of tobacco, pepper, and leather. The bergamot and lavender top accord continues on into the mid notes to join with them. By the time the middle notes come through, the sillage has calmed down to a more discrete level. From this point until the end, the delivery of the scent is more as a skin scent than a sillage producer, except for the gentle aromatic emanations still being given off. The drydown is a soft but masculine wood and amber accord that doesn’t hang around very long. The accords and notes of Aromatic Chypre make it a winner, as far as I’m concerned – they are truly excellent. But I have the same problem with this fragrance that I have with several other Pecksniff fragrances: longevity. It really should last longer than it does. 14th March, 2008. |
