Reviews of Classic Chypre| vintage*red United StatesShow all reviews | I use the lotion & bath gel with Mitsouko. The classic chypre gel has a fruity accord that I like. The lotion has more of a leather quality. Using both before applying any fruity chypre perfume extends the longevity of that perfume. An added bonus is the moisturizing. 29th March, 2010. |
| foetidus United StatesShow all reviews | Chypre is my favorite category of fragrance. I love the complex, deep, and sensual accords they produce. This one is green (basil, galbanum), floral (ylang-ylang, jasmine), woody (patchouli, vetiver), and mossy (of course). There’s an excellent aromatic note to the opening – a wonderful blast from the past. The opening is very green and light floral, and, except for the aromatic fly over, it is very nice but very ordinary. The sharp basil green of the opening carries directly into the sharp clove / vetiver heart without very much differentiation in sharpness: This gives a linear feeling to the top two levels and the linearity is continued into the base, which is sharp, too, and does not last anywhere near long enough. In all, the linearity and lack of variety of the Classic Chypre are its downfall. There just isn’t enough going on here to my taste. 25th December, 2007. |
