Fantastic citrus opening but it all goes downhill from there. The woody florals at the heart reminds me of Paco Rabanne pour Homme and feels like the cologne should shift into an oakmossy base. Instead it shifts into a plethora of other commonly used basenotes instead of a good, solid oakmoss. Here we have a dominant patchouli going at it with the florals and a breezy sandalwood. This gives a strange allusion of an oakmoss base and really confuses the wearer if they are used to more traditional perfumes like myself. A hefty price tag for something that needs getting used to... I think I'll pass, especially after trying it 4 or 5 times in different ways. The last downside is that it does not last long at all.

The top notes are perhaps the most noteworthy aspect of Silver Cologne: a very bright crisp citrus, some deeply indolic white flowers, and clear, dry incense. There’s a bit of the ripe animalic accord from Amouage Gold for Men as well, but in this instance it’s far more subdued and tightly integrated.

As the floral and animalic notes settle, Silver evolves into a somewhat herbal eau de Cologne structure with Amouage’s trademark “silver” frankincense layered on top. It’s far more wearable than the gaudily baroque Gold, but nowhere near as novel or complex as Amouage’s Dia or Jubilation XXV.

Like everything else from Amouage, Silver offers expansive sillage, though without the stupendous wallop that characterizes Gold. Silver’s drydown combines sweet balsamic notes, smooth woods, and a touch of creamy iris, and in line with the “cologne” designation, is far less tenacious than most of the other Amouage offerings I’ve tried. My final verdict is that while Silver Cologne is pleasant, wearable, and well made, it lacks the distinctiveness of the other Amouage scents – even the ones that I dislike.

Subtle yet very rich floral scent with interesting animalic undertones.

I agree that is smells “silver-y” in a certain way; it has a weird distant metallic tone to it.

This is actually really odd and unique fragrance, in my opinion. For some reason I came to think that this is like a faaar away cousin to ELdO`s Secretions Magnifiques…That one is completely unwearable unlike this; Silver Cologne is very versatile scent especially when you control yourself on the trigger.

To my nose the most prominent notes are orange blossom, orchid with jasmine, amber, incense and patchouli. And then there is that gentle metallic accord plus very clear but refined animalic tone. That animal shade comes to my nose a bit of a private-parts sweat like style. It’s not overbearing though, and it’s quite easy to handle.

I recommend for you to try this. It is one of the more interesting Amouage perfumes; it is surprisingly unique, very deep and very masculine too.

Personable, gentle animalic floral cologne.

As usual, with the house of Amouage, this smells expensive. But expensive and dated, not at all classic. This smells somewhat fresh, bitter, and rich/deep. But the overall scent is very very late 80's, and has not held up as well as some of the other 80's western designer scents. If I were to attach a time and place to this, I would say wilshire boulevard in 1986, on a wealthy man who had no confidence in his own taste, and instead relied on expense to dictate his taste.

Amouage is like caviar, it takes time to learn to taste it, to understand its value, to appreciate it and to feel its inner beauty. After years of being a loyal fan of Chanel Antaeus, it took me almost 2 years of trying and sampling Amouage. Finally I could feel the difference. There is no way back. All other fragrances can be, or are good, but Amouage is much more than just a good fragrance. Amouage is a classy part of who you can be and what you can feel. You must understand the melody first before you can dare to ask for a dance. I wear now Jubilation, Gold and Silver and my wallet is also much lighter since…

This is the first time I sample something from this house and I must say, disappointed. Agree that it isn't sweet at all, it has not personality, it is so bland. With such a prestige house, one would figure that there is something "ground-breaking" about the fragrance and to be honest, it smells like it's been done before.

The name “Silver” is a good choice, but the fragrance does not really have much of a metallic ambiance. It does remind me of silver, though. I find the accords delightful. The floral / fruity opening gives an impression of powder, but it is not as powdery as Gold or Dia, a circumstance I will ever be grateful for. I have a difficult time describing it, except to say that it has a strong element of dryer sheet accord to it—granted, it is a profusely opulent dryer sheet with abundant depth and refinement. To my nose, the opening is dominated by an accord of fruit, mixed floral, sandalwood, and frankincense. The frankincense is very rich but highly muted, and the fruit (citrus, plum) have a creamy texture to them. The floral elements and the sandalwood combine in a rich, luxurious combination accord in which I have difficulty separating out the individual notes. There is a sensitive transparency and otherworldliness to the accord that I would guess is attributable to the exquisitely refined patchouli from the base. I think Moon_fish is on to something when he mentions the chypre nature of Silver—that could account for my preferring this to all the other Amouages I’ve tried up til now: I have a special love for the old chypres. I also agree with Robyogi when he says it is reminiscent of Acier Aluminium: There are definite correlations although I don’t find the metallic ambiance in Silver that I found in Acier Aluminium.

This is a charming fragrance; it is rich and refined with accords that I find appealing, and yet it doesn’t scream, it doesn’t overpower. It is entirely restrained, making it completely wearable for my major use of fragrance—the office (so long as I keep the application of it minimal). It is the most masculine of the Amouages I’ve tried so far.... As for buying it, aye, there’s the rub: I am still struggling with the idea of $135.00 for 50mls of a fragrance that could easily be called, “Silver Snuggles.” Also, on my skin, Silver seems to have significantly less longevity than the other Amouage’s I’ve tested. Oh, the irony—the other Amouage fragrances I’ve tried had wonderful (or tedious) longevity, but they had accords I might respect but could not love. Silver has great accords but I am pretty close to giving it a neutral because of its longevity.

Florals? Patchouli? I don't really get them in any identifiable form. Modern, sharp, masculine, oh yes, I get all that! With a fantastic, harshness to it, it's a somewhat searing fragrance: exotic, heady, powerful, attractive, fascinating, addictive. I hope they never discontinue it but if the unthinkable should happen, the Silver Crystal will do in a pinch.

Powder and a certain type of skin cream or pomade is how I'd describe this one I sniffed from a sample. I don't dislike it, but I am not ga-ga over it either.

The floral notes are interesting but I find the lack of a base a little disconcerting, by which I mean something musky, if that's the correct term here. It's strong and the sillage is excellent, but that's about all the positives I care to lavish on this one. A solid three star effort out of five.

Cloying? Silver is not sweet at all. (As an aside, I think maybe people on this site are using the term cloying incorrectly, it means overly sweet. I believe the term folks are looking for is choking or maybe suffocating.) I get very dry fruits, spices, and incense. Silver reminds me quite a bit of Acier Aluminium, but of course with the Amouage frankincense. Very dry, dusty even, literally no sweetness at all to my nose. I was actually hoping some would emerge, as this scent made me thirsty! Good, but not as good as other Amouage scents like Dia, Ciel, or Arcus. As for dry incense scents, I'd go for Divine's L'Homme Sage before Silver.

First of all - it`s modern version of Amouage made for youngsters in 1998. More fresh. More floral and less powdery. Some plum or other fruits. More transparent.
And it`s still fruity (maybe flowery) CHYPRE!
Mandarine, plum and fleur d`orange on the top; Rose, jasmine, orchid, ylang-ylang and heliotrope in the heart; frankincense, amber, sandalwood, patchouly, musk and vetiver - in the traditional base of Amouage perfumes.
I cannot wear Amouage Gold - but Silver Cologne is very wearable. And its chypre qualities are very distinctive - fresh citrus in the beginning and powdery labdanum-patchouly in base.
Hommage to Francois Coty and Guy Robert!

The only Amouage that doesn't leave you smelling like a sissy. Not bad, but not really anything spectacular either, especially given the price. Has decent staying power and sillage, probably most appropriate for dining out, rather than for casual, office, or formal wear.

Wow, this is a tough one to describe. This is a modern, sharp, and masculine floral fragrance that has a very rich and heavy hand to it. It smells very silver in and of itself, which is what gives it that modern edge. It’s got a kind of metallic accord that reminds me of the colour silver. It’s very rich, and very long lasting. A great fragrance for year round use, in any situation.

I have no idea what the notes are in this scent. Amouage Silver Cologne smells fairly nice but ONLY when at least 10cm away from the skin. Even when given some time to settle down I find that it smells disgusting when I put my nose close to my wrist. Since I was so put of by how it smells up close, I can't say much nice stuff about the scent. Thumbs down :(
