Reviews of Chiffon Sorbet ![]() Mysticman United StatesShow all reviews | Chiffon Sorbet was Escada's 1993 offering in their series of limited edition summer scents. It opens with a light, fruity rose note --- the fruit is more like more like green apple and currants than citrus --- that reminds me somewhat of YSL's Paris. As its name implies, though, this is a lightweight concoction, and it doesn't attempt any fancy interplay among the ingredients. The roses linger for a good while, gradually allowing a subtle sandalwood to make its presence felt, along with a background of amber and vanilla. To continue the name's culinary metaphor, this isn't gourmet cuisine --- it's a frothy little something whipped up quickly to cool the palate on a summer's day. And on a hot summer's day, who wants to spend hours in the kitchen preparing an elaborate meal? Lighter fare can be just right, as this delightful rosy sorbet demonstrates. 21st March, 2010. |
