Emporio Armani City Glam for Him (2005)

This was actually the first fragrance from the higher prize segment that i bought. I remember taking shy steps trough the drugstore, carefully taking a few sniffs from those expensive looking bottles in the parfum shelf and the excitement i felt when i found this one (and ordered it on ebay a couple hours later ;) ).

I was shocked to see how much hate this juice gets here on basenotes. I wonder now if i spent last year disgusting people wearing this olfactory catastrophy people are describing here or if i just have some kind of special body chemistry.

Being a little bit more experienced now i am definitely not as excited anymore as i was when i first bought it, but i still like it. It smells nothing like the name suggests, though. Nothing i find to be glamorous or city...cious? ;) It smells more like freshly washed bed sheets on a spring day.

I am wearing it right now for this review and i still can't smell anything unpleasant in it. Just a really nice comfortable, fresh, minty fragrance

I must admit that CG was love at first smell. I don´t know why, but I like that bubble gummy opening. But true is that CG has poor longevity and 0 projection (same from begining to the end) and fade into nothing, so I cannot give it a thumb up.

After reading all the bad reviews I had to test this for myself and I have to agree this stuff is bad. When I first applied it I thought its not bad but then comes the dry down in my opinion that's where it goes bad. The worst from Armani I will suggest to try before you buy if you don't you might regret it.

Its ok...interpreted differently by other people.

Smells synthetic to begin with. Then a sort of a "new car leather" smell mingles itself in with the syntheticness. I liked it at that particular point.

Soon after, very soon, roughtly 20 minutes, that feel was washed away by a popular genericness, and turned the fragrance into a carbon-copy replica of MOST of what there is elsewhere on the "accessible" i.e. affordable mainstream market.

"Social Poison", to quote RugbyPete? No. More like a fragrant embodiment of youth trends. It's not BAD. There has been worse.

If that "new car leather" sort of smell had lingered on for a lot longer, I would wear it much more.

I'm not being a snob, but I find I receive more compliments for 6 squirts of Lagerfeld Classic on my collar than I do when I wear ANY fragrance in this youth culture genre, bar Issey Miyake and Cool Water and its Deep spin-off.

I am with deepthought on this one: try it out before joining the trash talk brigade.
This is not bad at all, it does kinda bite you in the beginning, and then it fades (rather quickly ~4hrs) to a decent but subtle scent.
If this was not an Armani, I doubt there would be this much complaint. It is def weak for Armani. This would be better branded as the signature scent for XPRESS clothing company or a car company like SAAB.
