This one does start off pretty sweet, but after about 10 minutes it turns into a great warm vanilla fragrance. My wife and I have matching bottles (corny, yes I know). She loves it both on her and myself.
It is a sensual fragrance that drys down to a vanilla-musk base that lasts hours. I only wear this one for evenings spent with her.
Thumbs up.

Vanilla and amber, that's really all I'm gettin'. I don't know what all this 'musk' nonsense is about, but whatever. Take it or leave it, this is a very simple fragrence. Maybe the vanilla pulls back a little bit after awhile and leaves more amber behind, but it's so well blended and sweet that I have a hard time really focusing. Either way, it's better when the weather is cold and the sun has set.

I wasn't expecting to enjoy this as much as I did; I love vanilla as one component of many in a fragrance, but rarely seek out anything that smells strictly of vanilla. My first impression was that this smells quite sharp and agressive, initlally a bit spicy as well, but it quickly settles into a deliciously sweet, musky, comforting scent with fantastic lasting power. It's definitely vanilla with oomph. I can see this working on a confident, fun-loving man with the sense of mischief and panache to carry something this sweet off. It's a fun, brash, sexy scent that I can imagine wearing during the winter as a pick-me-up, in any number of casual or romantic settings, but probably not in a more formal context (business meetings, job interviews). Perfect also for vanilla fragrance lovers who have yet to find a long-lasting vanilla fragrance--this one goes the extra mile (and then some).

Besides the very masculine scent of Kouros (has Kouros been updated???? I bought a bottle yesterday and it smells awesome!!! No more civet smell!! Thank you Yves!!!), this is my soft/sensual fav. Very soft, elegant and sexy. Wore it on my wedding day and got more complements on how I smelled compared to how I looked! It is a very nice alternative to the typical male scents you find with the sporty stuff by Nautica and Polo or the "smells nice but lasts no more than 1 hour" stuff by Dolce and Gabbana (which sold out in discontinuing their one and only best eau for men, By), Armani and Versace.

If you don't want to waste your money on something that smells like everything else (examples above) and like the soft/sensual scents with longevity, try Gaultier2 (it lasts 9hrs and then begins to cool down). Yes, it is unisex but try it on your skin before you judge it. Goes great with any time of the day and any place you need to be, formal or informal. A great alternative to Gaultier's other fragrances for men which either give you a headache (Fleur) or Le Male which lasts as long as D&G One lasts...about 1 hour (if your lucky).

Don't walk by this one. Try it on your skin, not paper and then be the judge. Macho men, don't be scared because it is unisex. Really men, after all, wear pink and aren't afraid of Gaultier's scents.

I love (sensual) amber, (intoxicating) musk and (powdery) vanilla and this scent gives all that to me.
When I smelt G^2 for the first time, I thought “OK, this one is good, but it is too feminine for me.” Today, G^2 is in my collection although I still think that it is quite feminine.
I am living in a pretty patriarchal/conservative environment, where G^2 on a man is a huge social NO-NO. If you wear G^2 and you are living where I am living and you are a male, people around you would definitely think that your sexual orientation is “problematic”.
However, if I put my love toward this scent on one pan and the people’s tattle on the other, the first pan would be much, much heavier.

Gaultier˛ = Sweetness˛

Amber.
Vanilla.
Musk.
That's what you get at first
-- and that's what you'll get in the end as well.

On the skin, it feels warm, radiant, tender, and organic. Beneath the surface, my nose also senses something that is slightly animalic. At first sniff, it smelled very familiar to me -- like something forgotten long ago in childhood that I had found again. A good intimate scent that should be used only in certain places and at certain times. I'll let you be the judge. :)

Bottleworthy? Let your nose (and tolerance of sweetness) be the judge for this one.

Gaultier2 features 3 basic accords: Amber, Vanilla and Musk.
Though its relatively liner composition doesn't evolve much from first spritz to final wisp on the skin; it does shift somewhat between these three featured accords.
Amber is the main star here - deep and resinous and warm. It melds to the skin like thick molasses and, when heated by your body, amplifies tenfold. The accompanying vanilla radiates this warmth and creates titanic sillage - imbuing the air with honeyed incandescent warmth. The underlying musk is not overtly animalic - but is ever-present to suggest something distinctly organic... the overall experience being like the heat of two bodies pressed together and the friction between them... tempestuous, fiery and yet tender.
G2 is not everyone's bag - but it does do exceptionally well that which it was originally intended to do... to illustrate and intensify the magnetism and volatility of attraction between two people, irrespective of gender and age. Perhaps a scent best left out of the office - but a great one to share at home with your partner.

First impression: Confusion. What am I smelling here?

Second impression: This is very sexy. Smells like I just did something naughty and got away with it.

Third impression: Incredibly long lasting. Sprayed it in the afternoon, still smelled in in the evening and even after a long bath, it's still there.

Final impression: I am in love.

The most magnificent thing about this fragrance is it s longevitiy! And the scent is apsolutely beautiful,it reminds me of the 80 s although it is marked as a modern and animalistic scent.Definitely thumbs up;)

Hmmmm...
This one is so delicious! For me, it is just about the vanilla and amber notes. For those days when you want to smell like a hot petit gateau! Perfect.
Oh, and it makes me feel so sexy... Don't know why.. Some perfumes have this power...

This is the warmest cologne I have ever smelled. The diversity of scents in the Gaultier line is spectacular. Le Male, Fleur du Male, and Gaultier2 smell nothing alike.

Gaultier2 is opens with a cloud of Vanilla, but it settles into a thick amber. It is wonderful, just do not buy the 40ml bottle, it will go too quickly.

The sillage is great, but its longevity is nowhere near Le Male, which is confusing as it is an EdP. Sample it. If you do not enjoy it, sample it again. I think it took me three tries, but I am now hooked.

A very powerful scent. Although essentially a linear composition it does transition from an initial and ephemeral vanilla (which I dont especially like) to a very long and spectacular amber.

Have to say, when I first smelled this at a department store I was disgusted in a way, maybe because I didn't spray it on my skin, but on a tester paper.. Anyways, a year later I managed to get some Gaultier 2 after shave sample and used it for a couple of days.. I couldnt believe how good it smelled throughout the day.. I decided to try JPG2 again and wow do I love it, it smells so good later on in the day... All you haters give it a chance (cause I didnt at first), the dry down is awesome... Not even feminine, its got a dirty masculine feel to it later on but still sexy and attracts the ladies

Sexy as hell; daring as can be. Definitely not for the amber-phobic, though -- what starts off as rich, sweet vanilla (vanilla of the Chergui and Liquid Karl variety, almost, but minus any spice or sharpness) soon turns the show over to a warm, sexy amber.

It doesn't take much in the way of guts for a guy to pull this off; however, it is probably not an appropriate office frag for button-down types. (It's pretty romantic stuff.)

Also one of the coolest bottles (albeit one of the kitschiest and most gimmicky) in recent history.

Btw, this juice is (just ask CologneJunkie) positively de-LISH when layered with Happy for Men by Clinique.

I love the bubblegum opening on this one. After the initial burst it aquires a pudding like texture and it´s really really nice. I don´t find it excessively sweet.

WoW!! Feels like I just had some GREAT SEX!! I haven’t felt this satisfied about a fragrance in a LoOOong time!! Women love this!!…I find it hilarious, yet cute, when they try to find ways to linger around me just for a quick sniff…lol! Wear it lightly and unleash the sexy beast! ;-) Double seal of approval!

The first thing that i thought, which i remember very clearly, when i got a whiff of JPG's squared, was 'wow.' Its SO rich in aroma, and is VERY sophisticated. No pyramid here, the fragrance is linear. The lasting power is amazing, and everyone seems to love it. A friend of mine who ONLY wears oils, and i mean NO exceptions LOVES it, and i have him on the VERGE of a purchase!

Thumbs WAY up!

I adore this one. Beautiful coumarinic sweetness of sweetclover (Melilutus albus)/ or woodruff (Asperula odorata) + linden blossom + honey.

Nice - and certainly different (as most JPG's are) but not as different or unique as le Male in my opinion.

Stupidly over the top, ostentatious bottle though!

This is fabulous on every level. Eroticism in a bottle, but somehow it also manages to be elegant and restrained...still trying to figure out that paradox! But I don't care, whatever it is, I love, love, love it!

This fragrance is a beautifully crafted contridiction of aromas......it is sweet and spicey, soothing and jarring....everything "feminine", yet surprisingly "masculine". It sometimes annoys me with its simplicity, other times, its subtle changes on my skin intoxicate my senses. I find myself gravitating tpwards this scent time and time again. Quite astonishing.

Absolutely Incredible. Very sweet though, if your not into that then stay away. I am saying it's like Vanilla sugar and sweet amber. Some people say it smells like grape bubble gum and I can get that but when I break it all down it kinda smells like freshly made creme brulee, and sex.

The opening is a little cloying, but it develops into a nice scent. Every time I spray it, I think, "Why in the hell am I wearing this?" but later on, I catch myself sniffing my wrists continually. It's a sweet, vanilla scent that I really enjoy a lot. Good sillage, and great lasting power...don't go overboard on the sprays, I think that's why some people thought it was too overpowering. Only a few spritzes are needed.

I've read all the current reviews on this one and am amazed at the wide variance of opinion. I think TEFLONDOG said GPG2 smells 'sexy & dirty' ~ and it does! Also, TAKEMYHUSBANDPLZ said she detected a note of 'honey' ~ and I do to! It's not a powerhouse scent, it wears very close to the skin. While I like this mixture, it's not quite me. So while I won't be wearing it, I will say you should give it a try. Unique!

This one is both simple and exceptional. Ultra sillage: i used 3 clicks and a person from the 1st floor, when I went out asked me what was I wearing. It was nice but also embarrasing for me.If u use this, a single click is simply enough. It develops extraordinary, and it is best used when in bed with your girlfriend/fiance/wife/lover. I find it as a perfect unisex scent, even though this one is more for men than women. So men, don't be afraid of this one.

I bought this without having sampled it, since i love the other jpg fragrances, and this more than lived up to my expectations. Unlike some people i dont find it too feminine or floral, it's actually a bit more subtle than most other jpg's.

My first impressions were of the kind of erasers you used in school, the scented ones, mixed with vanilla. it's a great scent that integrates well with your skin and smooths the fragrance, it should be sampled on the skin and not from the bottle to get the real smell from it.

I've received lots of compliments from it and its my new favorite frag, if you like lolita lempicka, le male, rochas man or similar stuff you'll enjoy this for sure

This is not a pleasant--by which I mean vapid--scent, but it is yummy, like a caramel bonbon at a Heathrow airport duty free. Whatever it is, this perfume certainly forces the smeller to make a descision, a trait I most definitely like in my scents.

The top notes are a bit shocking but it quickly settles into the deliciousness only hinted at on first spray and that, thankfully, lasts and lasts.

About halfway down on my top 20 "must buy" list.

I find it practically unwearable with its bittersweet nature, but I also find it extremely addicting. I can't stop sniffing my wrist when I have this on. I gave in and bought the twin 40ml bottles because I love smelling it often, especially at night. The best way for me to describe it is 'sweet body heat'. A very sensual scent that smells dirty and sexy. Of course I do agree with the grape bubblegum note that is often mentioned, but it's not noticeable unless you really think about it. While it's not a sillage monster like Le Male, it lingers well into the next day with an amberry, musky drydown.

This...is...SEXY!!! After reading reviews I really didn't think I'd like this that much. The weird thing is...it's EXACTLY how everyone describes it (grape bubblegum at first, sickingly sweet vanilla, feminine, etc)...and yet I LOVE it!!! I just got the 1 x 40ml bottle but I can tell that will last me quite awhile because just a little of this juice goes quite a long way. Great stuff!!!

After waiting and waiting for the official US market launch of the stuff (which was delayed no fewer than three times), I decided to break down and swap for a bottle of Gaultier˛ with another Basenoter. Given my love of sugary-sweet gourmands, I wasn't a bit surprised that I like it a lot. It is a different scent... sorta sweet and bubblegumy, with a hint of spice a la Frederic Malle's Musc Ravageur. The bubblegum you smell at first in Gaultier˛ isn't Bazooka or Dubble Bubble, though... it's Grape Bubblicious. But that's A-OK by me... I love grape bubblegum anyway. Oddly enough, by the time I started truly loving Gaultier˛, it officially showed up in the US at Sephora and Macy's. Good thing, because that body lotion in the lineup sounds tempting...

BA-BOOM!!! Big ,bold, and beautifull...finally a wearable Musc ravageur. I can't stop wearing this one.
Now deepthought, only Americans would think of this as a "gay" scent. Last time I looked, straight boys are looking gayer than gay boys. As for a scent that smells gay, it's got all the girls in my life hot, and bothered. GO FIGURE.

Nothing says "I am Gay" like JPG2 (not that there is anything wrong with that in the words of Sienfield).
But just make sure you know what message others may be picking up when you wear this one.........

great fragrance, a masterpiece when it comes to different skin types. still, i don't think i could pull it off wearing this.. way too feminine even for my taste. give it a go, though!

Once again a love it or hate it scent from JPG. I happen to love it. In my experience, the key to wearing his fragrances is application. Too much of this stuff and it could kill you, but a quick spritz and it can be terribly sexy. Its a bit of a changling also. Everytime I've worn it, its a bit different.

While the scent itself might not be as groundbreaking as Le Male, I think, you only have to break ground once and then build on your foundation. In my opinion, JPG has built up another level sure to cause a commotion. And I think that is exactly what he intended.

In Gaultier 2 I smell ambergris, musk and vanilla. Also this has a sweet, creamy and powdery violet balsamic finish. Honey isn't listed as one of the notes of Gaultier 2, but I seem to get a hint of honey too.

Gaultier 2 strikes me as a more feminine oriental, than a unisex scent. The idea I've read was for this to be a scent for a couple to share, not necessarily unisex.

Gaultier 2 stays pretty much the same from first spray till it wears off, which it lasts a long time. Actually, to me Gaultier 2 smells very similiar to Creed's Jasmin Imperatrice Eugenie, only Gaultier 2 is sweeter and more balsamic. Also, I smell the honey note that's in L'Instant. Which is strange because they really don't share many similiar notes. I've not completely decided whether I will purchase a full size bottle after I'm done with my deluxe sample atomizer as I find it less interesting than its similiar counterparts such as Youth Dew Amber Nude, L'Instant and the Creed Jasmin Imp. Eugenie. I will update, it might just grow on me!

Amazing fragrance.......on both my husband and myself! It smells very masculaine on my husband but sweeter and warmer on me! Yum! The dry massage oil is just brilliant, and is great to moisturise the skin, (the fragrance lasts ages) The concept of the fragrance is very clever, with the magnets on the bottles. Amber, vanilla, and musk are the notes used in this linear fragrance. Love it!

I received several samples of this from my online friend and basenoter Duxie (thanks, dude!). I was surprised at the sweetness and fullness of this scent, and suddenly it dawned on me that it was, of all things, similar to Joop Homme, but geez, STRONGER!?! It lasts very long, it's an Eau de Parfum after all, but regardless, simple and enjoyable. I still revere the almighty Joop! in all its blatant and candied maleness with a better complexity than Gaultier2, but G2 also has that boldness and audacity that still screams comfort to me. LIVE, people! Live to make a statement! Gaultier 2 will definitely help you say it.

I am simply amazed at how many bad reviews this fragrance has received so far. This will probably come as a shock to all of you who have slated Gaultier2, but to me it is easily the most beautiful fragrance I have EVER tried. Granted, it does feel more feminine for its sweetness and vanilla-ness, but is none the worse for it. Actually, I must have fallen in love with it instantly because it reminded me so much of Prada for women.
Boring? Only if you insist that a fragrance must evolve to be considered as such. To me, Gaultier2 is like a dream that has finally come true.
THUMBS SOARING UP!

I'm really, really impressed! The first Gaultier fragrance I truly love. I can see the similarities to "Classique" but "Gaultier to the power of two" is sooo much better. Gone are the cloying floral notes of "Classique" and there isn't a trace of the the infamous "le male". It already smells great on a paper strip, but the tester bottle asks you to try it on your skin and that's the right thing to do. The fragrance smells incredibly good on skin. Masculine? Feminine? Who cares? It just smells great. If I didn't know that it's unisex, I would definitely have a problem to tell whether it's mens cologne or ladies perfume.
Two thumbs up. Especially for the clever packaging and for the fact that a designer brand released a massage oil to compliment the fragrance.

It's a great scent. I love it as much as Le Male. Vanilla makes the fragrance very sensual. Bought the 2x40ml bottle, think the bottle is simple and nice. It's definitely 1 of the best release this year.
