I purchased this and Cuir de Russie in Bloomingdale's back in 1991 and have never sen them since then......anywhere. They are both such an easy fragances to wear. Very pleasant to the senses. If anyone comes across the Piver frags, please let me know.

Purchased this a couple of years ago now and enjoyed it very much although I remember thinking the longevity could have been better. A really lovely melange of warm spices with cardamom and peppers to the fore and a gentle woody drydown. As mentioned before with PIver, the range are great value for money and this is also beautifully packaged with stories of sailing the seven seas for the precious spices hundreds of years ago on the box. So, a history lesson and a smashing fragrance all in one -- top marks.

I agree with Renato: Parfum d'Adventure is a great scent, and clearly a masculine one. This is a soft cushion of gentle spice and musk -- very satisfying! Geo. F. Trumper specializes in this sort of thing but in this, Piver gives a worthy contender. This is powerful, assertive; but it has a certain suave barbershop charm. The spices are very well done, and there are hints of good wood. Now entering the comfort zone....

The manufacturer's website makes it clear that this is an updated version of the 1931 scent. Despite it's current Basenotes feminine classification, the manufacturer has it unambiguously as a masculine scent.

This is a spicy niche scent, reminiscent of the style of Piper Nigrum or Incensi - but I like it more than those two. Cardamon, peppercorns, cinnamon, geranium, sandalwood, cedarwood and vetiver are in the mix, but the cloves base is what makes it stand out for me. I recently discovered that I'm a bit of a sucker for the few prominent clove scents that are around, like Scannon Ghost, Halston Catalyst, Trumper's Milk of Flowers. Now I can add Parfum D'Adventure to that list.
