I too like it better than the original. I don't perceive any shared notes - definitely no candied violets in this one - but they do share a sort of similar, "dense", powdery sweetness. This is an oriental with sugar and spice, vanilla and peppery hot notes and some actually quite skanky musk. Although I think it smells good and especially appreciate the spices and musk, I think the fragrance is too strong and sweet, verging on nauseating.

I like this version of Kenzo Flowers more than the original. The Oriental has a bit more spice and pepper. Still heaps of powder and definite vanilla - but all in all, an interesting fragrance. Not for sweet freaks or gourmand lovers - (Britney lovers beware). KimChi's review is excellent.

I like this a lot better than Flowers, it has more spunk, more kick. It's not real strong, but it has more of what I like in a perfume than just Flowers. It is more complicated, I think.

The ultimate scent for doing yoga or meditation. The violet and incense combination makes FlowerbyKenzo Oriental a truly mystical scent.

MyQueen by Alexander McQueen has the same olfactoric style.

I love Flower as an everyday scent, and this one is a nice alternative for evening. The pepper was a little too strong on me, but it dried down to a fabulous agarwood. Really lasts, too. Not as bright and bubbly as the original Flower, but lovely nonetheless.

The notes are: Bulgarian Rose, Violet, Vanilla, Musk, Sichuan Pepper, Kyara, Chinese Incense.

Kenzo Oriental, to me, is a wonderful fragrance. I like it even better than the original Flower, which is very sweet and quite powdery, but very easy to wear. This one is spicier, woodier, maybe a bit more masculine, but it really works. It opens soft and floral (the Bulgarian Rose and Violet), but begins to dry with the woody incense making an appearance, and soon a slight pepperness. It is very well balanced. It develops nicely, a slight vanilla and woodiness and very little floral lingers towards the end. It last on me for about 4-5 hours and I cannot help but wish this would also be done in an EDP so it would last even longer. This tends to stay relatively close to the skin and can be worn day or night. It is a very comforting fragrance for this time of year, and I think it also has a rather meditative quatility to it. I highly recommend trying this one.
