I'm not a huge fan of the original, but I prefer it over this version. The amplified patchouli seems to give it a duller, outmoded complex.

Almost just as good as the original. Almost.

The start of the Intense, compared to the original, is much spicier with star anise coming through more clearly with rosemary.
Intense dries down in more dense and dark fashion; it’s not as fresh, “open” or shaving cream-like as the regular juice. For sure the patchouli note is stronger; it is overall a bit woodsier too. Not as crisp clean.
Intense is also little bit stronger and longer lasting. Basically speaking whereas the original is a magnificent choice for day wear, Intense would make a marvellous evening wear companion for it. (That’s really just a flimsy suggestion…Personally I wear these both scents whenever I feel like no matter what time it is.)

If I was forced to choose another scent over another, then I must say my choice would be the original version, after all. But, I really do recommend this (Intense) scent for the fans of Rive Gauche Pour Homme. It is easy for me to presume that you won’t be disappointed.

Rive Gauche PH Intense seems to be harder and harder to get, and if I am not mistaken, it is already out of production after spring of 2009. So I suggest you get it now while the stocks are still around.

Just like the case is with the original release, the bottle of Intense is simply divine. This one has thick plastic shell with rechargeable glass bottle inside. The flacon is much bigger and weightier compared to the regular bottle made of aluminium.

Rive Gauche Pour Homme Intense (EdT) is a terrific fougere fragrance with vintage vibe. Easy to wear anywhere anytime, sensual and powerfully masculine fragrance that I can see to be appropriate for the men of all ages.

Very much the same as the original but with tons more patchouli (and, therefore, better longevity). Once again, this didn’t tickle my fancy but I can certainly understand its appeal.

It's easily available in perfume stores, in Paris.

A classic barber-shop scent of immense appeal. Intensely good.

everything has been said-this is a pure and intense soapy powdery scent-a barbershop as it´s best-a boring scent, nothing special, unique , surprising or exciting.

I just did a side by side (well, hand by hand) comparison of Rive Gauche PH and the Intense version. Results?

The original projects better, the intense has more patchouli, and actually has less duration. Becomes a warmish skin scent. And that, folks, is about it in the way of difference on me.

Call RGPH Intense one for the completists.

Sideways thumb for a "meh," but I love the original, otherwise I'd give it a thumb down for taking up space.

Hmmm... A little too 'barbershop' for me. It sure does last all day long, so give it a try before you commit to a bottle. For my money, it's all just too powdery - a patchouli-powered talc-bomb. Not for me.

I enjoy wearing Rive Gauche pour Homme Intense even more than I enjoy wearing normal RGpH.

The barbershop accord in the intense version seems to be smoother and more subtle than in the normal version, and I am more aware of the star anise. The barbershop accord doesn’t seem to come and go as many times during the day with the intense version, and the cloves seem to settle down on to the base rather than trying to hang on to the top.

The extra patchouli gives the base greater depth and longevity, and gives the fragrance a moist earth feel—almost as if there is some oak moss in there. The vetiver and gaiac wood are enveloped by the patchouli in the intense version, and this seems to make the fragrance even more inviting and comforting.

It’s worth the effort to find the Intense version.

My impression from the store was that it was a mature Kouros. Less invasive and more round bodied. But then I bought two bottles and was incredibly disappointed.
How can you applaud something that smells like a monday ?
RG intense is boring and not long lasting at all. Or maybe it lasts a while but I just don't notice it because it is so boring. Sometimes it smells like a pool of infected water. And sometimes it smells like something overheating. Wanna smell neutral ? - use regular soap and water !

more potent, longer lasting, less regular barbasol and more barbasol soothing aloe, than the original edt. spray and walk in to the mist, youll smell it a day later

A very traditional smelling fragrance that cuts the barbasol spice opening of the original RGPH in half and increases the incense drydown by 30%. The spices from the opening quickly and the vetiver, gaiac wood, patchouli finish is more noticeable, right from the start. Otherwise, its very similar to RGPH. Fantastic! I like it more than RGPH!

Hands down my favorite fragrance and my personal/signature scent. This will be the one that my family and friends will remember me by - it's timelessness and comfort are simply unparalleled.

The instantly familiar aroma reminds me of my father and my grandfather as it has many of the components used in their after shaves of yore. This said, I wear this every time I see my infant niece and four year-old nephew, as I want them to associate me , my presence and my love for them with this impeccably classic elixir.

Well done YSL and Tom Ford - and thank you!

The BEST of the entire Rive Gauche line, but strangely cannot seem to find this intense version on the internet, only the EDT. I find the Intense to be deeper in character and a little more interesting, perhaps there's a bit more anise in the Intense. I like it better, although will wear the EDT as I cannot find the Intense. One of my favorites by YSL (besides Kouros and YSL Pour Homme Haute Concentration).

Very similar to the original. I cannot speak of the individual notes. But, where I was disappointed in the longevity of the original, this one does stay forever! Very hard to find (here) - get it if you can.

This is a bit like a characture of the original. It has taken some of the most recognisable notes and amplified them without losing the instant recognisableness (did I just make up a word?) of it's original. Still though, if you struggle with the EDT, don't go near this one

Smells EXACTLY like the EDT, but has a stronger Patchouli note in the drydown, and also a heavy dose of Moss. It lasts a bit longer then the original. If you want more Patchouli and Moss than I recommend you get the intense.
