Smells like Del Mar with a watered down purple or red feel to it. The dry down is pretty long-lived, but smells like sugary cotton candy (which is kinda redundant, but...). I guess it's okay if you like sweet young smelling stuff and you're a young dude (or girl). If that's your thing, then neutral. For a scent called "Selection"...I dunno. Thought it'd be more elite smelling and powerful.

It’s for someone who likes green scents with a touch of darkness. I don’t feel it's boring at all. Opens with a sparkling fresh green, peppery grapefruit with hints of violets setting the tone for the scent (the trademark sweet note of plum). The fern note would remind one of the fresh accords of Montales Fougere Marines. The mid-notes have a spiked up spicy bite giving of a feel that the leaf has been freshly crushed. The overall tone of the scent is dark and has a plum like sweetness to it (think chevignon, lacoste ph?)..This settles down to a very comforting base of musky sweetness with good hint of vetiver and woody notes.

Boring? naaa. Matter of fact, not many scents out there can beat this one for formal occasions which requires one to wear suits. A very elegant wear. Perfect for office and important meetings. Not a date type unless you are wearing something formal.

by far my favourite from boss. the only others i take into account as personally acceptable are XY and No 1. though elements aqua is so so but easily dispensible. a good balance of wood, fruits, herbs. tho its hardly a fresh scent imo. very easiliy acceptable. good longevity, slightly sweet and woodsy..it could pass off as a lighter version of no.1. its crisp and sleek, nice and warm, but not creamy or powdery at all. a feels like scented wood to me, and on top of that, its very versatile. office, formal, semi formal. a clean floral wood scent.

A ho-hum green woody fragrance that immediately reminded me of Gramercy Park by Bond no. 9.

Boring and unoriginal. Smells like a watered down version of Del Mar, which is also put out by Boss/Baldessarini. This fragrance is generic and obviously produced for the masses who are looking for something that won't offend at the office. As a man who appreciates a fine cologne, I find this scent to be utterly boring and the epitome of mediocrity. If you want a real fragrance check out Chanel Egoiste Platinum, don't waste your money on this.

Nothing original indeed... Starts fresh and quickly turns to a generic sweet and fruity smell, a bit synthetic, similar to the ones found in Z Zegna and Cool water deep. It's not a bit powdery as the first neither so intense in its fruity notes as the second.
All in all, It's a nice casual fragrance. Just too expensive for what it is.

Sometimes I would check-out the reviews before buying a fragrance, other times I do it the other way round. For BOSS SELECTION, I bought first then checked out the reviews(MIXED!!..not surprising) This is a very good fragrance, fresh and sweet-fruity but that's just the beginning, BS will go on to reveal its masculinity, arid, floral, warm musk in a way I've experienced in only one other Fragrance ROMANCE For Men (RALPH LAUREN), Which I also loved.

This was bought for me by my wife. And thank God she doesn't know what my online ID here is.

I really don't like this.

Don't get me wrong, at first, when you put it on it smells fresh and clean, but it dries down to an overly cloying sweetness which makes me wish I'd worn something else during the day.

And this is nothing like the original Baldessarini (which I also have). The Baldessarini smells expensive and has a nice dry down which this doesn't.

Maybe it's just my skin but, this doesn't float my boat.

Generic? Indeed, beyond any doubt. I guess this scent revolves exclusively around the famous " Boss sweetness " which can range from atrocious to pure genius from scent to scent. This one seemed to have landed right in the middle, yet slightly less effeminate and mainstream like the other mass produced Boss scents appearing almost every second and which are spposed to be masculine. While suitable for teenagers, i would associate this scent with 20 something, at most 30 something young executives, officials or members of the vast suburban middle class, maybe as their office wear, but i think it's a little to casual for that, but most likely in their spare time or during their night out downtown, clubbing.

In my opinion Hugo Boss' best creation to date (although I have not yet sampled the 80's frags or Soul yet). It is very unique as have not come across a similar scent. It is a sweet frag that has a hint of almond/marzipan??? An older person's scent that can't really offend.

Nothing special, poor longevity, uninspiring, and unremarkable. Nothing new here to discover but not unpleasant.

This is definately run of the mill and very generic. Luckily I used a sample instead of buying. This scent is so common it smells like Cerutti Image with even less staying power (about an hour). In fact you've probably smelled this so many times it's going to be one of the reasons it fades so fast. If this is what you want, get Axe instead. It's cheaper and will last longer. In about a year nobody will be carrying this anyway.

Fresh and well put together. First reminded me a little of Black Code from Armani, but this is fresher. The scent has a modern tone to it. It doesn't impress but it smells nice.

It's close to a "thumbs up" grade but it is quite ordinary and doesn't bring much originality to the scene as other "Rev. Nathan" suggests.

I could wear this.

More interesting than any other Hugo BOSS/Baldessarini cologne. It is fruity/citrusy/aquatic,but with no sharp notes and it has also a sweet subtle sugar tint. Anyway this is not for me as on the drydown i perceive some smoky notes.

Generally not a big fan of Hugo Boss, and selection was my first time fragrance.
Sweet, fresh smelling and long lasting fragrance. Originally planned to use for everyday, but then switched to the special occasion type.

If you like boss then you'll love this one, since it is a little better then the others.

I don't have the greatest nose, so I can't tell you the notes, plus it smells so synthetic its hard to even pick one out. Since I've tried to wash it out 4 hours ago and it's still infecting my nostrals, I would say it's got a lot of staying power.

So here's my impression: it smells just like the other boss frags. It's going for a clean, kinda old school citrus smell, but it seems really muddled, like there are too many notes... it gives me a headache.

You'll probably be able to pick it up in marshells or tj maxx or wherever in a few months. But I would not recommend spending a lot of money on it.

I bought it because I was in a hurry to get some cologne for a trip. Didn't really smell around, I just knew I liked Hugo as a clothing manufacture. Now that I have it, I kind of don't like it. It's the ugliest bottle in my collection; a grey square with a silver top... no originallity here, folks. And that carries out in the smell, too... extremely subtle, and average longevity. I think it's a fantastic fresh smell, but it's... unoriginal? I haven't smelled nothing too similar to it, but this is boringish. For the price, I would not buy it. Now, if it was the price of coolwater...

Although the vendor who sprayed this fragrance on me said the top note was tangerine, I felt an aroma like red fruits or maraschino cherry as a main note. The base note is soft, not so woody as other fragrances, but more green with a bit of anise. It seems to be suitable for daytime, night and office, for a range 25-50 years old.

Looks like my first review on Basenotes will be the first review of 'Selection', sweet!
First of all, I would like to say that generally speaking, I am not a fan of Hugo Boss fragrances and hence, I wasn't expecting much from this when the lady at the store gave me a sample. Unfortunately, 'Selection' failed to impress me.
This is a fresh scent, but really nothing more. While it doesn't remind me of any other fragrance in particular, it certainly doesn't seem original. I found it to be quite pleasant, but there is nothing about it that makes me want to go out and buy it.
