I still cannot find anything that enlightens me more than this.. sadly the other fragrances by Canali just dont add up.. But this original frag. always gets me compliments, and nobody can guess what it is... very crisp and fresh 23 June 2009

An immediate calming, masculine, and lasting scent. A decent work cologne. Doesn't overpower, but is always there. 17 June 2009

very very appealing opening of fruits and spices, give off a coolwater vibe yet scream suit and tie, modern and appealing, i just wish it had better projection, it stay close to the skin but isnt a faint smell and has a little boldness to it, with a leathery dry down its a great work or day fragrance for someone looking for something a little different. good stuff. 15 June 2009

The pyramid lists pineapple, tangerine, and all manner of tropical fruit, but what you actually get are very well rendered bergamot and nutmeg top notes. Same goes for the listed leather and iris. It's orange blossom, violet leaves, moss, and tonka bean (coumarin) that actually assemble at Canali’s heart, and they yield yet another (admittedly well balanced) entry in the crowded class of conventional, Cool Water-derived fruity fougères for men. Until its trite, suffocating, sweetened synthetic cedar drydown, Canali is a perfectly pleasant, if utterly generic, office scent. Thereafter, it’s a pointless exercise. 08 June 2009

This is the sample that started everything for me. I went to the shop to buy a new deo and they gave me a couple of samples. I never really was into fragrances before this, but for the last year, I've learned and smelt a lot. All thanks to the Canali sample. It is quite flowery with maybe a little dash of citrus to make it even fresher. The flowery notes that are in here aren't heavy, either: just light hints of delicate flowers with very subtle and sweet scents. Lovely ! The result is a smell that I would wear in very warm weather: every sniff would remind me of cooler places. I'm guessing that's what perfume factories are trying to achieve with the marine drab they churn out, but those don't work. I don't like the smell of stale puddles or rotten seaweed on me. I never thought I'd like a flowery fragrance, either, but Canali men is so light and lovely it is adorable. Canali men makes me want to dress in one of my better suits and walk the city. Other great fragrances have that effect on me, too. 29 April 2009

I really like the different scents in this one. The citrus top notes give a refreshing burst when first sprayed on. The vetiver and leather really come through for a really nice, masculin scent. 17 April 2009

I went out fragrance shopping today with intent to buy. And ended up buying nothing. What was funny was that the one fragrance that I really liked was this one. The opening is glorious. A really head mix of tick boxes which say "Yes! Buy me lover boy you know you want me." And to a large extent I nearly went ahead and bought a bottle. What stopped me was not that I liked the smell but that I questioned the longevity. But, and it really is a big but of J-Lo dimesions, that was when I was suffering fragrance-purchaser's-nose. Olfactory fatigue had set in majorly. I am now home and can still smell it on the back of my hand some several hours later. It smells... well.... distinguished and elegant really. It's a really lovely cologne-type smell with warm undernotes. Will I buy this? Yes I think I will. It's a real sharp lightweight suit scent in warm weather. Rather lovely and women will love it. 26 February 2009

Ooooo, this a real keeper I tell yuh! I bought this fragrance a little over two years ago and still have the same bottle today. It's amazing! When worn correctly, Canali is extremely enticing and pleasant. People always compliment me when I wear this frag. It's very sweet and bright. It can be worn year round with just about any occasion. Just to explain its impact. I was with a group of my buddies, about 10 of them and finally one of them said, what are you wearing? After that they all looked over and said, yeah what is that? It's amazing! To protect its value in my position, I lied and told them it was Cool Water so all them wouldn't go out and bought it. Ha ha! Another occasion, I wore this to a wedding in a tux and all the ladies were smelling me all night long, wanting to dance and be close. Yes, it has that effect on women. Guys, you can't go wrong with this one. It's on my top 5 and it can be on your too. It's wonderful and worthy of a trip to the store just to try it. 20 January 2009

At first spray I was disappointed I bought this cause it smells identical to Bvlgari's signature cologne which gives me migraines! After about 20 mins it turned into pure sex appeal even I couldn't stop smelling myself. Smells so fresh reminds me of fresh new clothes, a convertible in the summer and a bangin hottie sitting next to me. Grab some you won't be dissapointed and its cheap too. 25 December 2008

This one is just ok for me. On first spray it smells kind of sweet really good actually but on me after about 10 minutes or so it smells kind of like soap. Not bad but not good either. I have gotten a few compliments but I don't love it. 23 December 2008

I think I would say that I prefer this to Black Diamond, however neither really strike me as a must purchase cologne. I like the energy and playfulness of this cologne but the powder is really what draws me back (I can't stand to be on the verge of sneezing all day long). Canali clearly have there quality formulas, longevity and sillage never seem to be a problem. I could easily give this a thumbs up if they would just get rid of that pesky powder. 23 December 2008

I am an ardent admirer of the menswear that Canali produce, so I tested this with high expectations. Sadly,it never quite scaled the heights that I had hoped. The top note is warm and pleasant, but it quickly sits back and admires it's work. If it had kicked on and produced a warm and vibrant fragrance I would have been satisfied, but it seems as if Canali have taken the safe route. This is so similar to a mass of fragrances on the market, it scarcely warrants a place in the shops. If they had marketed it under the name "6/10" it would have been kinder to the potential buyer. The whole package from box, bottle and fragrance is boring. It is inoffensive enough, but you would not want to get stuck in a lift with it. 18 December 2008

To me, Canali is a simple refined cologne. Compared to other fragrances, it is quite synthetic. This scent reminds me of Ferrari Black but a tad-bit smoother and refined. I get a somewhat spicy-geranium, which mimics a floral rose character but without the creamy, dewiness slant. The top note is were the geranium is most prominent, then segueing into the middle note, Canali starts turning ho-hum...a very powdery (a seemingly synthetic powder at that) accord. As the dry-down appears, the powdery aspect seems to intensify slightly with a tinge of mellow sweetness. It is this dry-down period that seems to ruin a higher rating. The sillage is moderate and the longevity is a little better than most. Canali wears close to the skin with a slightly bolder presence. This is a very wearable cologne, especially for work, under a nice sweater, or an evening out. Would I recommend this cologne, no more than any other out there, but this is a nice, simple, refined fragrance if you want something unobtrusive, inoffensive and classy. 17 December 2008

Hmmm. I have to sample this again...cause my nose tells me Canali is "I am too good for Davidoff Cool Water but can't afford Creed's Green irish Tweed". But everyone keeps talking about fruits and stuff...I don't get that. It does have this aura of 'I wear a suit all day" too. I will try this again and see. 20 September 2008

I'm surprised this hasn't gotten better reviews. Since this is my first review, well- Hello. At this point in my fragrance reviewing career I will not attempt to talk about the notes and stages and technical aspects of the juice. I went to the mall to buy Carolina Herrera 212 Splash. Instead I ended up leaving with Canali. The instant I tested this one I began to fall in love with it. I sprayed it on and was in awe. I walked over to my lady and it had the same effect on her. Sometimes when I'm out at a club there will be a fragrance in the air that has "CLUB LIFE" infused all through it. I liken it to the sum fragrance, to which everyone in the room has contributed. It's what democracy means to your olfactory. Canali, for me, is what I want that fragrance to be. Complex. Edgy. Sophisticated. Subtle. Unmistakable, yet mysterious. 05 August 2008

For a scent that came out during the seemingly endless wave (pardon the pun) of fresh oceanics and aquatics, this is a breath of (not so) fresh air! After a nicely complex opening of fruit and spices, it settles down to a great leather woody scent softened with a touch of tonka. Usually I'd think a scent with this much leather, woods & spice wouldn't be wearable during hot months, but this one works. Interestingly it's dry down is like a lighter version of Prada Amber Pout Homme. 15 July 2008

Top two of the 17 colognes that I have selected as worthy to be kept around the house. I have not met a lady who doesn't like this scent, and I like it too. Its not an overpowering strong scent. But the complexity and variety of scents really seems to have come off well, and this one smells good on me -based upon my nose and others. 12 July 2008

To me, two things stand out here: fruitiness in the opening and leather later on. Yes, it is complex and yes there is development. And it is not like everything out there. It reminds me somewhat of a toned-down version of Creed's Royal Delight: a sweet leathery fragrance. My mother comlimented me on it and my son told me from the distance it smelled AWFUL to him: like vomit. Well, I don't think that. I suppose I prefer "Russian Leather" to this style, so I give it a neutral rating. 02 July 2008

Pleasing opening of spices and fruits. Lots of stuff down at the bottom that makes for a unique drydown accord. Soft yet you know it's there. It dances around pretty much each of the notes and never settles down to one particular one. Wood, a little leather, then the sweetness of tonka bean then back to wood. Very interesting. 03 June 2008

It's good, but pedestrian. I enjoy it, but I would have trouble distinguishing it from a number of fragrances. I have to give it a qualified neutral rating because it lacks true distinction. Otherwise, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it, as I think it would offend no one and would please most people. 13 December 2007

My nose can pick out the amber in this one after smelling Prada Amber awhile back. I am not saying that is a bad thing! More masculine than PA though. 12 November 2007

A restrained fruity, spicy opening—very pleasant, very well done. This opening doesn’t last very long as a sillage producer, rather, it quickly morphs into a neutral / warm skin scent with a bit of nutmeg edge to it. This skin accord is as masculine, translucent, and attractive as it is fashionable. The fragrance then moves into light florals in a well-done but a bit diminutive accord—jasmine dominating to my nose, and I’m happy that the violet is barely noticeable. The movement to the base is signified by the powderiness of an iris note in the floral accord. The drydown I experience is almost completely wood with the barest bit of leather. The sweetness of the tonka and amber are controlled and the drydown is relatively dry. Canali Men is a very good modern scent—it is discreet; it progresses quickly and smoothly; it has decent longevity; and its notes are the currently fashionable ones. I really like this one. 14 October 2007

Canali Men is complex. I own it and have tried it three times, and each time I get different impressions and become more aware of its components. I am surprised that I like it, since it is a bit flowery and powdery, has a vanilla aspect, and is slightly sweet. Normally, any one of those aspect would put me off. Why not in this case? Canali is well designed, balanced, and restrained. Its many ingredients work well together and offer a very interesting progression. I find there to be four distinct stages. The first is a brief opening with slightly sweet fruits. Woody spices then emerge and are very nice. At this point it is close to the skin. Then, florals appear which are dusty, a bit powdery but not cloying. The scent is getting bigger. Finally, there is a soft woody-leather base. The tonka gives a vanilla note but I can tolerate that here. There is subtle vetiver grassiness and soapy sandalwood. Here too there is richness but not anything cloying. This is an EDT, a perfume version has just been released but I think that would be too rich for me. 18 April 2007

Never heard of this brand before. Suddenly there were avertisments in the magazines that it had won a contest somehwere in Canada. I was very curious about it but they did not have it in The Netherlands at that moment. A few months later I have seen it in a fragrance shop and gave it a try. I have to say that the scent I smell is good but not that specail to me and I had the idea that it was very light and not long lasting fragrance. After a while I don't smell it any more. ut this is not the idea that I got my friends and collegues. It is not that much interesting for the male friends and colleagues, but female friends and colleagues are very fond of it. Most of them wantd to know what it is wanted to buy for their boyfriends or husbands. This is also one of the fragrances which you don't smell that long, but it stays long on you and the people around you can smell it. At least I have this issue with some of the scents. Some I smell all day long like Terre d'Hermès. 16 April 2007

I am a big fan of this scent. Particularly in the summer when it mixes with my persperation it releases some amazing results. Unfortunately it has seemed really weak all winter. Does not last long on me no matter how much I apply. I still did just re-order a bottle and can't wait to use it as the warmth of spring approaches. Overall a very nice scent, I just wish it was a bit more powerful. 20 March 2007

considered irresistable by many, considered generic by many more...Canali is a bit of a funny duck...fare more androgynous than the clothing label it's named after, yet at the same time, there is a definate continental sophistication that peeks through the "pleasant" exterrior...I recieve many compliments on this scent, yet, I must admit, if I wasnt such a fan of Canali clothing, I probably wouldnt have even considered buying this...kind of sweet and fruity upon the initial whiff, but then the masculine muski-ness gives it a strong jab and sends it spinning into something completely different...not bad for an initial offering, I think that Canali could follow in Zegna's footsteps and present some great scents in the future...deffinately worth picking up... 28 August 2006

This is a strange fragrance for me. It's top notes are primarily edible/ gourmand (Bergamot, Mandarin, Pineapple, Apple, Coriander, Nutmeg, Cardamom) middle notes are floral and the base are woods and musks. For all these different notes I can't pick one out by scent. It smells good, but is a bit light for me, mostly a daytime scent that would get overwhelmed in a club or bar. It is good for comfort and intimate dates, however as its predominant floral notes are not aggressive. The woods and musks at the base help give it a push into the manly side of the spectrum without making you want to grab your crotch. The bottle I tried was marked "My husband, My freind." This tag is the verbal impression of the cologne. All in all I enjoyed this cologne alot, it's a very pleasant fragrance to be around. 4 out 5 14 August 2006
