To create Escentric 01, just take Black XS for men, take away the pralines and spices, then add more Iso E Super and make the lime extremely sour instead of sweet, and there you have it. This was seriously so sour that when I think of it, my cheeks twinge the same way they do before biting into a lime, only in the worst way. It actually makes my face feel weird! I guess it's obvious that I really didn’t like this at all. The heavy does of Iso E Super in this is intriguing, but the fragrance is linear and boring overall for me. For my daily dose of Iso E Super, I'd rather stick to my Black XS for men and Light Blue for women, (they're both heavy on the Iso E Super, but much more complex and much, much better).

If you'd like to discover what Iso E Super smells like, try Molecule 01 instead (it's pure 100% Iso E Super with nothing else), and skip this one. Then go out and try either Black XS or Light Blue for a nice mix of supporting notes and most importantly, your money's worth.

Escentric 01 is, simply, Molecule 01 (or Iso E Super) with pink pepper, lime and incense thrown into the mix. The overall effect is a citrus and pepper opening (that smells like gin and tonic) with a cedar-incense drydown.

It'd be much cheaper to purchase some Iso E Super, from a perfume supplier, and then layer it with a woody fragrance of your choice.

The whole concept's a complete rip-off...

Better than Molecule 01, this is peppery and woody and overall a more pleasant experience than Molecule 01. You can't smell it on yourself but on paper you can. I'll call it the Phantom Frag.

I obsessed over this for months! It's completely unlike anything else; there's something more abstract about it, perhaps because of that high Iso E content. From the pepper and citrus opening to the cedar-chemical drydown, this scent is amazing. AMAZING. Modern and nuanced and exciting.

"electrifying" peppery and lime peel notes which reverbrates and resonates like when you touch a massager..the notes are really vibrant and keeps jumping up and down with joy! its really a fun scent with woody notes too adding to its charm. its like they have "hit" a "note", which is sooo beautiful, that you cud hear it forever. a must buy for anyone who is looking for a fresh scent. you will pray for summers so that you could douse yourself on this and go out walking in the sun with your fav raybans on. a big thumbs up!

A very nice wood note that lasts. It would be even nicer with a bit of complexity. Gets a thumbs up nevertheless.

What a neat fragrance! This Iso E Super that comprises the bulk of the fragrance creates some interesting olfactory illusions that lend credence to the notion that synthetic does not have to be a bad thing when done properly.

The fragrance is comprised of a perfect balance between lime and light pepper with a touch of incense lurking in the background. These elements wax and wane in strength over the course of application, but never fail to bore or get me to stop smelling my wrist. To date I have only tried a light application, but I get the feeling that with a heavier application I will be able to catch whiffs of lime and pepper throughout the day.

Perfectly unisex, there's no deep story here, no unfolding drama to interpret.... just a fun fragrance perfect for summer, the office or anywhere else you need 'fresh' scent that isn't a '(fill in the blank) Homme Sport' or '(blank) Femme eau Fraiche'.

It's always amazing to smell a perfume that blows you away the first time you smell it and sends you running to check the full bottle price online. That happened to me with Armani Prive's Pierre de Lune, Dior's vintage Diorling, Dior's re-issued Diorama and now this quirky little fragrance, Escentric 01.

With Escentric 01, I get a rush of lime and pepper in the top note which then morphs into a lovely yet exciting warm vetiver/wood fragrance that is somewhat indescribable. Escentric 01 comes closest in smell to Ormonde Jayne's Isfarkand but Escentric 01has a touch less pink pepper and a bit more metallic/cedar in the middle and base notes. Escentric 01 also doesn't last as long on my skin as Isfarkand although I've read that on others, it comes and goes in waves. The last thing I should say about Escentric 01 is that apparently 65% of it is a synthetic aroma chemical called "ISO E Super" which is a base for a lot of fragrances made today. It kind of bummed me out to hear that my new love is mainly artificial but I think I'm just going to have to get over my prejudices. It is just too darn wonderful!

Here are Escentric 01's notes, per The Perfumed Court: wood, sweet pink pepper, lime peel, and orris incense.

When I was at Aedes, I heard customers fawning over Escentric 01. "Oh yes, you really can't smell it ON you that much but people compliment me on this all the time." And that seems to be what I hear and read most about this fragrance. Naturally I had to know what this olfactory phenomenon was all about so I ordered a sample. Now, I generally don't like to play the "this smells like" game, but my nose went through a scrolling list of fragrances of which Escentric 01 reminded me. The opening wizz of tart, delicious, green yet slightly chemical lime/lime peel reminded me VERY STRONGLY of Eau d'Cartier Concentree. This association was intensified when the nondescript hazy woody notes came through, but just as that scent association faded, another came to the fore... Dolce & Gabanna Light Blue for women, and distantly of Black XS for men which has that similar fuzzy sweet wood sensation. Those hazy, scratchy, somewhat generic woody notes are utilized here subtly, and they seem like the generic light, hazy, fuzzy, scratchy, blond wood smell employed in many of todays department store "fresh/woody" fragrances. Burying my nose in, I faintly experience a sort of cool, pointed, peppery, fresh frankincense smell that seems to add that "je ne sai quoi" to Escentric 01 transforming it from something ho hum to something kind of special. I reminded those around me all day that I was wearing a "magic perfume that wafts genius bursts of freshness and delight all day" and no one seemed to notice it. I did dab generously, and did not spray... so perhaps in order to experience this halo, this aura, the mystery that is Escentric 01, one needs to spray it on. Honestly, I feel this could be something special but because I'm not able to mist it on my body and clothes, I'm not getting the full effect. At any rate, via my mode of application, this turned out to be a nice, pretty, tame, sweet and sour fresh lime, effervescent light woody scent with a little prickly pepper to add interest. If one were to sample this, I highly recommend ordering a spray decant. I want to give it a neutral but must give a thumbs up. There's something about this that seems "just right." It's balanced, gentle, it smells very good, and it's unique.

very cleaver
I don't like the pepper opening but I don't care to much for it.
Pepper or perhaps(I guess) the cheap aromachemical they use to recreate the smell of it always turns very harsh on my skin... almost like amoniac feeling, but that part does not last long.... fortunately
the rest is just very pleasent, not quite thrilling, but delivers what it is suposed to. It also reminds me of a lot of nice memories and has kind of a weird calming effect on me.
An hour or so after application, I think I can figure out what a solo iso e super smells like: silky smooth and almost virginal and innocent clean soapy, slightly astringent wood with a low pitched buzzing bergamoty feel... hmm
indeed, the way iso e super plays with the skin is very weird and intriguing. A minute, its is just imperceptible and the other you get a fresh/clean mini burst of the stuff and youre in heaven.
If fahrenheit would not be loaded with iso e, it would be simply raw, brutal and completly unwearable IMO, but if theses brutal and sweaty notes werent there it, would'nt be as lovely either.... it would just be plain escentric 01... still nice...but I just happen to love fahrenheit so bad...dunno why, makes me weak in the knees every time I smell it. I don't thik it is just iso e super but it surely plays an important role in the play.
although Escentric 01 does not projects like hell, my first application lasted all day long, even survived a shower and was still very there
Escentric 01 turns out to be a very beautiful skin scent after the first few minutes, but when you do the maths, you could get about 5 kilos of pure uncut iso e super for the price of a single 100ml edt dillution
how do you spell rip off?

This is a light, fresh, woody accord after an initial top note of pepper and citrus. It dries down into what seems to be a skin scent - but then you catch whiffs of it here and there - and others, if inclined to mention fragrances - will say that is projects well.

I suppose it is nose fatigue that keeps you from smelling it all the time or something, but this concoction with iso E Super "delivers the goods" and is easily wearable in the office and at night. You will project a scent just below the threshold of conscious smell, and have an aura of freshness. Superb!

I find this completely addicting and sexy. There is something stimulatingly dirty about it. I find that when I wear it, I don't sniff my wrist - I just get little thrills of pleasure when I happen to get a whiff of it. I am neutral with respect to the initial pepper notes - it's the long-lasting note that must be Iso E Super that does it for me. (Probably I would like Molecule 01 even better.) If it were music, it would be bassoon and typmani.

I really wanted to like this, but after getting a decant, I'm not so thrilled. The pepper and lime peel scent reminds of of the condiments you put on food (but it doesn't remind me of food!), and it really, really comes on strong. After a while, those drop off to the background. The Iso E Super is nice in its smooth, warm scent, and is one of those memory-invoking smells. However -- and I don't know why -- I started getting vaguely nauseous from smelling this. I think it's because I was very turned off by the top notes.

Overall, however, it's a unique, challenging and intriguing scent (I can imagine others being intrigued by it as you walk past and they get a whiff of your frag) and it's good for a try because it's probably unlike anything else out there. I suggest getting a decant to test it out first.

I really love the opening burst of spicy wood and a pretty pink pepper kick and the freshness of lime peel. Soon, however, both the lovely pepper and the lovely lime fades. They are still there alright, but more mute and not so vivid and sparkling. Still a nice, spicy woodnote, but somehow "watery" or "transparent", not as warm and full as could be expected from a wood scent. Perhaps it's because it's a single note?

I immediately get a very nice woodnote, and I don’t get much else—at least no lime and not very much pepper. I think the wood note comes through quite nicely, though, and it is not weak at all. It’s a strange one that seems to get stronger as it goes along. It lasts and last. As much as I enjoy it, I find it hard to think of it as a legitimate fragrance—its name really throws me: Iso E Super presents Escentric from Escentric Molecules. It’s a very nice fragrance but it is nowhere near worth what it’s priced at.

I really like this fragrance. I know a lot people hate it. It is very strong and it stays on you for at least 20 hours. It's not a summer scent at all. It's overpriced that's for sure.
