Great Oriental, the best I've tried. Sweet cherry tobacco, cinnamon, booze, leather, and woods. It really is perfect, I cant say enough about it... London and Nemo rule this category. 5 stars!

Opens with a boozy bang but that's fleeting. It quickly settles to something more subtle; a spicy, woody heart. This one will not please the fans of the 80s powerhouse frags as it is too refined (didn't want to say weak). I too would wish for more "noise" and longevity from Burberry London but It still deserves the thumbs up due to its overall quality.

I do like this one when compared to Brit. These are the only two Burberry fragrances that I've tried thus far, and this one is indeed very pleasant.
I have a problem with many fragrances not lasting long enough on my skin, and this one definitely doesn't help. Lasted only about 2 hours on my skin before it's presence died down to a whimper.
Love the composition, but don't like the longevity and sillage. I'd get it if it lasted longer.
Still a thumbs up though.

I have sprayed it today on my wrists and my neck from a tester. The most prominent note I can smell is sour cherry, which someone has already stated here! And it is not listed in ingredients, very strange. The other notes I can identify are pepper, tobacco and leather. I can definitely see why this fragrance may be appealing to someone, it has certain quality and rare individuality which is good but I am still not sure if this is my type of scent, I am voting as neutral for now. To me London is somewhere between Sander for Men (because of the pepper note) and Gucci pour Homme II (because of the virtual or real cherry note), however I would still prefer those two instead.

Elegant, Classy, Warm, Stylish, Sexy & Manly. A scent that works best during the fall/winter. It brings up the image of opening gifts around a fireplace on christmas. Women love this on a man, getting complimented daily when i wear this. Lasting power is ok, not great, but i can get 3-4 hours out of it. Definitely worth trying/getting.

having a penchant for collecting as many scents from a particular brand or label which i hold in high regard, saw me purchse 4 of theri male scents. if ud notice their scents tho unique, aree similarly sweet and breezy, with only the intensity and longevity playing the roles of variation. bruberry men(red) and london have to be the longer lasting ones. if you'd try Touch and weekend along with london and Burberry men, yod find that signature scent style that is very subtle and elusive. the only word i think of is breezy. doesnt hold down stronly but is very pleasant to most. not bad, but id admit some regret coz this doesnt not last over 3.5 hours

Because I disliked the 1996 so much, I took my precious time to test this one. I needn’t have avoided the confrontation – London 2006 is a very good fragrance. First there is a very catching opening: an attractive accord of bergamot, lavender, and spices. Those references to Christmas are appropriate. The bergamot and lavender are nicely proportioned and the accord is completed by cinnamon leaves, which provide elements of both spice and green. Cinnamon leaves are more muted than the spice alone would be, and the result is a classy opening accord that becomes quite addictive. The middle accord, too, presents some unusual notes – port wine and mimosa that are presented on a platform of soft leather. Nice smelling alcohol is always a nice addition as far as I’m concerned. Unfortunately these notes do not come through as strongly as I think they should. And they quickly lose what little substance they had. The base is too recessive for my tastes. It is a woody / mossy accord that is quite dignified but I wish it would be a bit stronger. I don’t get tobacco out of the base accord. This is / could be such an excellent fragrance and I’m opting for a thumbs up, but I won’t be buying it because I’m disappointed with its strength and, especially, its longevity.

Woodsy and sweet (but not over-the-top sweet). Smells pretty much the same after a short dry down. Good lasting power on me. Projects well. A really nice woodsy, spicy, somewhat sweet fragrance. A very nice scent for a man.

Wow! Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. London is technically an oriental flirting with gourmand, but unlike most orientals, it can work in just about any kind of weather -- it's a "cool" oriental rather than a warm one, as it avoids the cinammon and vanilla overdose that renders most orientals cold-weather-scents only. I can't think of a single other thing that smells quite like this -- it's crisp, cool, woody, and rich all at once, and both modern and timeless. This one will not date with the passage of time. Simply brilliant and one of my top 10. Antoine Maisondieu -- I salute you.

this is just plain fabolous and beautiful! i smell cherry somehow. Even its not in there. I wonder noone has mentioned that b4. Like cherry with alc (cherry punch).its just amazing how strong it is on my skin i used Carlos Santana and then i sprayed 1 h later Burberry London on my neck. its now 3,5 h since i sprayed it and this is totally outplaying CS i couldnt even smell it right after application. Sitting here with 2 windows open i still get strong whiffs also while turning my head. Its just amazing. Im so happy i bought it. nothing that i dislike here. Sweet and comforting not disturbing at all. It has great sillage to me and probably very good longtivity when i apply more!
Definitely one of my favs with SMW or Rochas.

When sniffing this one out of the bottle it smells really nice, but once sprayed on there is a similarity to Liz Claibornes' Spark and in both theres a note that I just can't stand. Almost a slight stale urine smell. Not for me

I like the idea behind this scent and the general way it smells. However there is this rotten fruit or vegetable note in there that is quite apparent to me even when initially sprayed. That is what ruins this for me, as I just cannot stand to smell that particular note on my body. (whatever it is, I'm not sure)

I came across Armani Attitude and found that it is quite similar to London. London could have been a better fragrance than Attitude because Attitude does smell quite synthetic, however I can't deal with London's rotten note. I picked up a bottle of Attitude instead.

This is a nice one. The majority is correct: boozy, woodsy, and sweet. One thing I certainly didn't get from the other reviews is just how mellow of a scent this is. With boozy and sweet in practically every review, I was half expecting it to smell like I poured vanilla rum all over myself. It is a very balanced scent, with none of the characteristics being overly dominant. It is hard for me to imagine someone who would have a strong negative reaction to this, and it is equally hard for me to conjure up a situation in my mind in which this scent would be inappropriate. Warm, comforting, mellow, refined, and just straight pleasant.

I may be the only one to mention this (didn't read all the reviews) but to my nose, it bears some resemblance to l'anarchiste by Caron, but with everything toned way down. There is no metal, blood, or oranges. The spices and woods are what I find to be similar, but the edge has been taken off. The spices are toned WAY down, I should add.

A hearty thumbs up!

Every girlfriend I've ever had has either kept her nose close to my collar or bought a bottle for me when it comes to Burberry London for Men. While obnoxious when first applied, and victim of an ugly dry-down w/ my chemistry, the end result is a head turner: understated, sweet, with some leather/tobacco. The first time I wore this downtown a girl (who was sober) came up and bit me on the neck because she liked it so much. The next day she brough her fiance to my counter and bought him a bottle. Can't wait for the cooler months so I can start wearing this stuff again! The rest of Burberry's line doesn't hold a candle to this stuff!

Probably the one scent that I can honestly say is a signature scent for Fall and Winter for me. When this first came out in 2006 I was about to get married and we were looking for scents that we would wear on our wedding for the first time and then the Honeymoon in Italy. We chose this for me. The wedding was Octover 7th. I can't tell you how great this smelled while wearing my tux and then for 2 weeks in the Amalfi Coast, Tuscany and Venice. Nights in Tuscany that got 40 degrees while you smelled the vines burning in the distance while wearing this.........every time I put it on that is what I get. Great stuff and a head turner.

I tried, and tried to like this fragrance but I am not a fan of tobacco smells... It just smelled really bad... And yes I do get alot of diffrent holiday smells like thanksgiving and christmas.... But alot of those spice smells I dont care for. at least not on my body. Longevity is the only good thing I will say about this, other then that Burberry could have kept this concoction!

A lot of reviewers have said this reminds them of Thanksgiving and Christmas and I can see why: It's fruity, spicy, and a touch leathery with a hint of tea. It's too sweet for my taste (or at least, it turned out to be right after I went and bought a bottle), but I can see how it could be a kind of a comfort scent for some people. I can also see how it could be the kind of scent that a girl in her early twenties would want to cuddle up next to, and that, ladies and gentlemen, isn't a bad thing at all.

Moderate projection, poor longevity.

To me this smells very anticeptic. Almost like Bactine that you put on a scrape. I don't like the scent at all on me, on a blotter or on someone else. I can't pick out cinnamon notes but the black pepper and alchohol notes come through clealy along with maybe a moss. The bottle is nice looking ... that is about the only thing I can think of to say about this cologne that isn't negative.

Love it! Perfect scent for cooler weather and is a compliment magnet. First time I ever wore this I received my first cologne related compliment ever. Nice, boozy and sweet without being overbearing. To me it's unique since I haven't really smelled anything like it before.

The top is Spark like with the Lavender and cinnamon predominant.

The pepper then leads us into a warm bodied Mimosa.

Five minutes into the scent it starts to fade a bit and eventually you are left with a rich mix of sweet, spicy and woody with touches of tobacco.

With its multi layered approach it is definitely not one dimensional.

This is a wonderful scent doesn't smell sporty or fresh like many other over hyped frags out there, but it is sophisticated and pronounced. The initial notes resemble a more intense citrus similar to Abercrombie "Fierce", but the middle notes are what really distinguishes it from the rest. The compliment inducing woodsy and sensual aroma are sure to bring plenty of attention but don't expect it to last over 10 minutes. The final drydown is very pleasant as well but sadly almost undetectable. This is a terrific scent for any occasion, but it lasts for little over an hour.

I find myself asking SAs what they have in stock that smells like BURR-bree London. They invariably come back and attempt to correct my pronunciation so that it sounds as though they're ordering from a west Texas juice bar. And then proceed to tell me they've yet to smell London.

I give. I just know this'll be discontinued and I'll be without a favourite.

Rochas and Pi, Nuits de NoHo and UDV ... Those are the ones that smell of London, each with its own peculiar take on the sweet, warm, vanilla formula. Love it. And sure, each predates London, but I smelled the Burberry first. And it's slightly better than all the others combined.

Actually, when one combines all the others, the resulting juice smells just horrible.

London makes me literally weak in the knees! I do have a proclivity for spicy, masculine scents on men (no more aquatics, pleeeease!), but London has an extra special *something* that makes me swoon. Aromatic, woodsy, spicy, delicious without being foody or vanilla-y, I think (hope) it's a modern classic in the making. Absolutely perfect for fall and winter.

OK, I shouldn't even admit this, but I ran out of new things in the Sephora sample bin and picked up a sample of this, thinking I might use it on linens if nothing else. The bottled scent was intriguing so I put it on and, two days later, had to order the full sized EDT. I really think this is a unisex fragrance - the lavender and vanilla soften the woodsy scent without turning it into something girly. This is a great work scent for a confident woman. Like other reviewers, I found the persistence to be less than ideal. It's fun while it lasts, though!

Many men's orientals these days dry down to a powdery vanilla (which I love) but this one has clarity, yet remains very deep and interesting. It's woodsy (a criss-crossing of sweet light and dark woods), it's spicey (a great lasting cinnamon), it's sweet in a very tasteful way. But it's NOT confusing, and full of interesting twists and turns on the skin. At times it smells like a masculine potpourri satchel, with so many wood variations and spices. Not groundbreaking, and what you'd probably imagine if someone said, "a tasteful, spicey, woodsy oriental."

Burberry London for Men is a toned-down version of Givenchy Gentleman, but is still too similar. This initial blast is great, but it dries down to something sweet and gaudy.

Smells grass...Totally grass. Not little not more.If you have played soccer and has little accidents, hitting the ground, then you know what it smells like. But lasts well, though.

A ''green'' smell of nature. And it is very natural, indeed.people might not understand that you're wearing cologne...

Good quality,though;it doesn't smell cheap.

5/10.

boozy and somewhat sweet, recalls Spark by Liz Clairborne. Nicely formulated, very rich and distinguished. It has a full beard and long hair yet it is sophisticated. To me it also has a bit of John Varvatos going on...not sure which one I prefer. This is a must for Christmas.

Every year I buy a new fragrance for my Dad, last year it was this. I love this fragrance, It smells like winter to me, although I think if I smelled it on a guy I was seeing I might be repulsed. A friend of mine also bought this for her Dad ( unbeknownst to me) . So definitely a older gentleman's fragrance.

BURBERRY LONDON is destinctly British.
When first sprayed I am overwhelmed with velvety rich black tea accords, much like those found in Bvlgari Black... however a look at the fragrance notes suggests there are none. This fragrance is a warm, embracing scent which bursts with lush woody leathery notes. The lavender works well to soften the composition, and ensures the woods do not overly-dominate.
As this scent wears on, it improves tenfold! In cooler climates radiant hues emerge that have gone unnoticed when worn during the warmer months.
Burberry London is a fragrance that would be worn well with cashmere scarves and wool jackets. Its very composition lends itself to a feeling of comfort and coziness.
Its longevity is great and projection excellent. I will enjoy this scent for a long time to come.

Comes as close as anything I've yet smelled to the original Burberry for Men (long, long discontinued). Still, the spice is not quite the same, nor is there the same warm drydown and magnificent longevity. It seems a rather cheapened version of the original, with some less expensive spices thrown in to cover up the fact. But I'll give it a thumbs up just because it reminds me so much of the original. (Oh, and the tartan-covered bottle's kinda cute.)

Classy, subtle with a nice wine(y) smell! Great bottle and longevity!
If you can't get no satisfaction, try O Boticário Malbec for a more pungent wine aromme mixed with woods!

So good. Finally, a scent with a heavy lavender component that's done well. Lavender, with a touch of tobacco, leather and wood. Someone could definitely use this as an every day fragrance. And by 'someone' I mean me. :) Heavy on the class, and could certainly cause a "Panic on the streets of London." ;)

A relative of Brit, without the citrus. They share a certain air, a rather "perfumey" air I must say. This seems to be Burberry's signature, classy scents that smell like perfume, period. This is not to say I can't pick out notes in them, but it all adds upp to "perfume", not a true-to-nature invocation of a place or flower or foodstuff.
London is a woody scent, and I get a hint of leather too, still it reminds me more of an elegant, refined lady than a gentleman. A lady of the old school, with too much authority to wear some insipid fruity/floral. I'd say it's a lady's oriental wood, sweetened with florals and tobacco. It's very soft and smooth, no sharp or aromatic fougere/cologne/chypre notes. I wouldn't be surprised to smell this on a man since it has the classic woody/leathery base, but I would find it rather sweet, unless his male skin chemistry would make it less so. I'm talking tradition here, personally I think all scents should be gender-free, and all in all I wouldn't mind smelling London on anyone. It's just a bit too "perfumey" for me personally.

I was pretty excited to try this since Burberry has released some very decent scents in the past. I quickly decided that London will not join my list of those. Fresh and aquatic it ain´t, which in itself deserves some kudos in this day and age. But unfortunately there is something off putting in the heartnotes, something sour and slightly vegetal, almost like rotten leaves. Perhaps these are the alleged tobacco leaves mingling with the port wine? Also the staying power and sillage is minimal, so even if you do dig the scent this is a negative factor. The flacon is pretty cool though, the use of the plaid textile is nicely done and reminiscent of Hermès´s Rocabar.

Wow. If you wanna smell like the incarnation of a classy man then this fragrance I would put at the top of my list. The top notes of bergamot and black pepper work nicely to enhance the spicy aroma that is brought out in the cinnamon leaves which also contribute a great deal of "green note" to this one. In drydown it seems to get very woody and the port wine really comes out with something of another fruit... perhaps baked pear. Every time I smell I think this how a well groomed man should smell.

I somewhat agree with the angel drydown. It also shares similar drydown with Bvlgari Black to me as well. This just isn't unique enough to stand on it's own. If you don't already own one of the above mentioned EDT then burberry is a milder form of the two. If you do already own one of the above, then you may be disappointed in that it's too close to what you already have.

Fantastic union betwwen mimosa (silktree flower and porto wine), plus gaiac wood.

I have been a Creed fan for about 5 years and of course still am. However, after sampling this new fragrance, it really had something that I like. As mentioned, it's very masculine in a very handsome way. It has alot of "presence" to it....sort of a smouldering sweetness. As the Burberry description says, it does indeed seem timeless and classic...the way the tobacco, pepper, cinnamon, and liquor play together is truly intriguing. This is not a fruity summer scent by no means, and while it may be better suited for cooler weather, the right man...one who doesn't necessarily care anyway but simply uses this as his signature frag. can definitely pull this off in the summer. It's kind of odd that I would say this knowing that Cary Grant wore the likes of Green Irish Tweed and Acqua Di Parma, it honestly reminds me of something that he would have wore...at least in his early days of The Philadelphia Story...back when a man was a man...a gentleman. It's a very smouldering fragrance. While this is EDT, I do think the Creeds last a little longer, but hey, just apply another squirt or two this stuff as it's fairly strong anyway.

In my opinion is an excellent fragrance; one of the best I have have tried. It has become one of the highlights in my collection. It reminds me of a mature forest more than of brandy and pipe smoke (yeck!) of some old fashined men's club. Perhaps it might remind some of a pine cabin or a country lodge in the fall or wintertime. I love the scent from the opening notes to the dry down. I can't find of the individual notes some of the other reviewer have found, may be one day I'll be sensitive enough to do that. "London" seems to last a decent amount of time on me as well.

In the end it seems to me that all one can really say in the review of a fragrance is "Hey, it worksl for me! So, you might want to give it a try."

Am so glad that support seems to be building for this. It's actually the first Burberry that I have really liked. It is very pleasing and, dare I say, inoffensive, without being boring. An unusual combo. It is rich, relatively complex, without getting too sweet or powdery. Basically a cool weather fragrance, it just plain smells good. Sillage is not that great, but I can smell it on my wrist many hours after application.
I hope they stick with this, because it really is quite different and classy.
PS The cloth covered bottle is clever and practical, but I think that the trademark tartan has too many cheesy connotations for this wonderful fragrance.

Tried it without reading the reviews beforehand. Really funny b/c I thought it reminded me of _good_ alcohol (brandy) and spicy fruity notes combined. Then, I read all these refences to holidays :)

First of all, it is unique. It is not a 'me too' frag. I did not get that much woody scent on me, but I could sense a little. Longetivity is not as good as Burberry brit, but I would easily call it average, possibly above average.

I really liked the frag at first then got slightly annoyed of its drunken sweetness 2-3 hours later than by hour 4 enjoyed it again.

My word of advice is to keep in mind that people may think you've been drinking.

I received a bottle of this as a gift and I couldn't be happier. London certainly has a sweet side to it, which isn't normally a plus for me, but it is balanced by a spicy, sophisticated edge that wears wonderfully in the colder months, but could easily be worn in almost any situation.

Very manly, very British. Wearing this makes me feel like Harold Macmillan or some Oxford don, puffing a pipe and sipping port in his study. It's not quite what I would call "sexy," but it's refined and absolutely unique.

The heavy bergamot mellows into a mixture of citrus, tobacco leaves, cinnamon, and various spices. I would give this my full endorsement, but as it fades I find it gets a little too stale.

That said, I applaud Burberry for this utterly original and fascinating cologne.

London 2006 is like being in a couple of countries at the same time, it has a very distinctive Commonwealth sensation.. Asia-Africa-Mediterranean very well defined and balanced. The first impression is like crawling your nose in a cloud of fresh citric leaves with lots of black pepper and wet grass after giving a rub, what a fantastic sensation! And suddenly it comes the state of the art, the light spicy vanilla tone with pinches of cynnamon. It kicks your ego with a touch of class: light tobacco, leather and strong musk. All of that without loosing a memory of herb freshness. London has the power of being radically different in its three notes but linking one to another way too natural. Like a young boy who plays the role of becoming a young man with class. Make a trial pouring some of this scent while watching "Macht point" by Woody Allen. Definitively.. this is the number one of my top five fragrances! Praise to Mr. Antoine Maisondieu for keeping his nose tight and fit doing a magnificent job with this parfum. So does the packaging, very personal and original.. May Burberry will keep this quintaessential parfum in their arsenal for centuries..

I wore London a couple of nights ago for our company's annual Christmas party and it was nearly perfect for the event. We're an independent coffee roaster/bar with fewer than fifty employees. The way it flirted with other scents (candles, glasses of scotch, laughing people in party attire, baristas fresh from a day's work) evoked the holiday in a way that no other fragrance has for me before.

I bought this cologne on a whim because it was on sale, and I had heard such great things about it from other reviews. I really don't like this smell at all, in fact, I think it's disgusting. I really don't want to "bash" this cologne, since I rarely ever do, I can find the good things about almost any cologne, but this one, seriously, doesn't do it for me. Try it before you buy it!

Just giving Burberry London my first try today and I'm really likely it. It reminds me a little bit of Ungaro III, though it is clearly not a clone. Ungaro III is a little bit darker and I feel would appeal to a younger crowd then London. I could easily think of London as a more refined/grown up version of Ungaro III. Great for romantic evening use and the longevity on me seems good.

I totally agree with some of the other reviews that it's very festive and christmas like. I think it smells way more spicy then other leather scents like Varvatos, and I don't get a fruity smell from this at all, unlike Varvatos' almost overwhelming date accord.

I think the cinnamon dominates in the opening, then a boozy drydown with a leathery base. I swear I smell something "salty", like cumin? but very faint. Also, I could swear there were cloves in here...

I also agree that it's masculine and gentlemanly.

I'll be wearing it this fall no doubt, even though it makes me want a gingerbread man.

My friend summed it up when she said "It's what a man should smell like"

I think of it as contrapuntal to Burberry Brit. To me, Brit is the quintessential Christmans Morning scent. The excited bergamot is waking up and running downstairs for presents, the cinnamon is all the candy and gingerbread sweets you eat, the somewhat over-sweet tonka at the end is the toothache you have by noon. Brit's great, but a bit juvenile, IMO.

By comparison, Burberry London is Christmas Eve. It has a rich, smokey, "fireplace" feel to it. Its still sweet, but not in an artificial sweetener way, more like homemade pumpkin pie and deep red fruits candied on the stove. Its a restive but heady mix: the taste of a nice cordial with a pipe or cigar by the fireplace after the kids have gone to bed, when its just the adults som kose seg ("cozy-ing themselves"), as they say in norwegian. It comes on a bit strong, but to me the plum dominates the heart notes. Not sure what this reminds me of.... one of the fruit & leathers' date accord I think (maybe Varvatos or DK Fuel). Cranberry maybe? It soon becomes boozy, but not overly so (As I find Michael Kors to be). Maybe like FdA, but in a less herbal way, more leather going on here, and a silky tobacco note.

Burberry London feels very high class, very mature and exclusive. It should have been more expensive than it is, by the smell of it. I think they should have left Burberry Classic as London, and called this new one Burberry Prorsum, but what do I know.

Excellent and very unique! London has strong herbal-spice top notes and drys down to a warm wood-tobacco scent. It is not a sweet smell like a previous post stated. Sweet implies a sugary, fruit like smell. This is more of a green-herbal-spice that is very prominent for a while. If you like the citrus or musk or woods smell, this ain't for you.

Well, well, well, WE HAVE A WINNER! This is simply great!! Simply put, it's a spicy-green scent with a light base of vanilla (I suppose this might be the opoponax that's in it). Reminds me of Fendi for Women with it's floral aspects removed. Bought this one instantly at full price. I would've been crazy to leave the mall without it IMO. Bad longevity however. Detectable for 2 hours, but this is one of the moments I just excuse poor longevity for the sheer happiness of something good that came out of a 2006 creation.

This is an incredibly good smelling concoction. The initial burst is..phenomenal, I don't even know how to describe it,.. mimosa, cinnamon and brandy with hints of tobacco and leather? The drydown..well, what drydown? It's gone within an hour on me, I could seriously use up a full bottle in a week. Buy if you're ready to reapply every 2 hours or bathe in it, I just don't see how could one overapply this stuff - partly because it's so good whereas not 'in your face', partly for it's poor longevity. Hope Burberry will come up with EdP of this soon.

I love it. It smells like Halloween, Tahnksgiving and Christmas all rolled into one. Pretty good lasting power as far as I'm concerned. It will be one that I reach for all Fall and Winter.

I was sucked in by the beautiful bottle - and the fresh smell coming from opening the cap. I should know better but I bought it without sampling. Once I applied, there was a sickening sweet smell. The dry down was better, but very sharp and discomforting. It smelled like a watered down, sweeter version of Pomegranate Noir, by Jo Malone. Don't waste your money, just stop by Nieman Marcus and pick up the Jo Malone!

reminds me of Body Shop Activist for Men (not sure if this is still around?). Strong on the cinnamon and mossy/woody smells very long lasting - even after one day and a shower!!
Nice but possibly a touch overpowering.
