Tabacco, black tea and vanilla. That's about it.

While I loved it at first sniff, Tabacco Vanille now makes me yawn of boredom due to it's linear (and lack of) evolution. I also hate the synthetic black tea note in it - I find myself getting annoyed of smelling the exact same thing for hours on end - like a song that was good at first, but once you hear it on the radio for the 5th time in an hour you're fed up of it. Not much else to say here, but that TV is also overpriced and smells a bit like a candle. Sorry guys, I'm just not feeling this one.

I much prefer Guerlain's Spiritueuse Double Vanille - now that's a fragrance with quality, evolution and great blending. Even though there's no tabacco in SDV, it still reminds me of vanilla pipe tabacco and gets top honors for being my favorite pipe-tobacco-style fragrance. SDV is less sweet than TV and it's not even close to being as cloying or annoying as Tobacco Vanille.

For the first 15 minutes all I got was the dried preserved prune - the sort you'd find in Chinatown, sold in large packets with the prunes individually wrapped in paper. We call these preservatives 'buah kanna'. (Hey, maybe Tom Ford was eating some while sifting through dried tobacco leaves and somehow drew an inspiration!) Anyway fun facts aside, when the tobacco finally arrives, its presence is unmistakable. Loads of dry unlit tobacco leaves here, playing up an evocative note which probably reminds many of the men in their lives. This aspect of a scent normally wins my vote. However, considering the line's exclusivity and price point, I find TOBACCO VANILLE's linearity and simplicity too uninspiring that eating some buah kana seems to be the more satisfying option. Strictly for tobacco lovers.

Chergui wth more tobacco and slightly lower quality vanilla. For the price difference, get the Chergui and then smoke a pack of cigarettes.

I am finding the Tom Ford line rather clumsy. The fragrances seem to find a favorite student in the class and look at no one else. For examle, the Oud Wood in this line is cedar heavy and too camphorous to allow the artificial oud to peek its head through. Similarly, the Tobacco Vanille is very heavy handed on typical sweet amber, which overwhelms the beautiful fruity floral nuances of true cured tobacco can have.

This fragrance does not develop into anything noteworthy other than a sweet amber vanilla confection in the middle notes and drydown, with maybe some tobacco drowned somewhere in the glop. I suppose a half spritz would be a great layer for a very dry wood fragrance, but why not plunk the $200 down on something created by a nose who knows what he or she is dealing with? Shame for the price and presumed snootiness that this line seems to want us to buy into.

Reviewing this one is almost pointless, because it's so aptly named that if it's title is appealing to you, then likely so too will be the fragrance. It's a pretty simple scent but not without depth - it cuts to the chase rather quickly I mean. I think I pick up a hint of cinnamon on top of the two main notes. Sillage is just right on my skin, and it lasts like few others. I'm not sure if it's an every day scent or appropriate for the summer, but I do look forward to getting more and finding out.

An over-hyped and overpriced vanilla-tobacco scent that is not as unique or brilliant as it makes out to be. If you must really own an adult-vanilla scent like this, get Guerlain’s Spiritueuse Double Vanille – it’s cheaper (per ml) and more complex.

Don't believe the hype!

Well the longevity and sillage were absolutely unbelievable on me. Linear, yes.. but one tiny spray from a small atomizer and I was good to go for 16+ hours. This is so rare for me - in fact I'd say that 99% of fragrances don't last anything close to as long as TV on my skin.

You have to be a vanilla fan (tonka bean) to enjoy this - no doubt about it. There was mention of the vanilla scented candles that I could relate to a bit, though the vanilla in TV is of much higher quality and doesn't smell synthetic and nasty.

Price isn't absurd when you consider one.. TWO small sprays at most.. will last you as long as TV does. Probably my favorite from the Tom Ford Private Blend. I can see it really shining in colder weather. I also look forward to layering it with some fragrances - someone suggested Rose 31.. I'm thinking Bois du Portugal.

Vanilla scented candle. There is not much tobacco in this scent, as it is dominated by sweet, syrupy honey and vanille, with tobacco in a supporting role in the background.

as others have said, very linear tobacco and vanilla! but VERY well done. the tobacco note is absolutely divine, and the vanilla is a perfect bedfellow, blending almost seamlessly with it. a dried fruit note is also in the mix, somewhere between cherries and figs and prunes, it has been said that this smells like cherry pipe tobacco and that's very true - but there is no smokiness - this is warm, moist, unsmoked cherry tobacco.

beautifully recreated notes, masculine yet warm and sweet, enduring (19-20 hours) and great sillage, if you love it on first sniff (like i did) then that's all you need to know.

I just spent a small fortune to buy this at Harrods. Why? Because it smells exactly like (well to me anyway) a spot on mainstreet at Disneyland. I know Disney pumps in scents, but I doubt they are pumping out Tom Ford. Anyway, It starts out as a nice sweet tobacco scent - which would be too sweet for long, but it settles down into a nice sophisticated scent that lasts great all day. I notice it changes throughout the day. Don't think I would have bought an entire bottle except for the Disney nostalgia effect.

Very pleasant Tabacco Vanille scent, easy to wear, nothing complex here....just very nice, one of the few Tom Fords that work for me. Quiet , subtle scent..........

What more can I add. Linear tobacco and vanilla. On me, it is blended quite well so that you really can't tell where the tobacco ends and the vanilla begins. As it begins to fade, a light smell of hot chocolate and marshmallows is all that remains. A pleasing end to a pleasing experience. Extremely comfortable. Longevity is good on me bordering on 8-10 hours.

I made a special trip into town to try and most likely buy this based on the community threads and various reviews, and was really looking forward to sampling a good vanilla & tobacco scent.

Unfortunately, I was bitterly disappointed. What I sprayed on the test strip was so sickly sweet and cloying that after 10 minutes of walking around the store and waiting it to settle, I couldn't bring myself to wait for any longer for a sign of the tobacco to appear. It was sickly sweet and yes almost alcoholic to the point of causing an upset stomach.

My favourite of this rather disappointing line by Tom Ford. His new 'Pour Homme' is ghastly. I think this works though and the mix between the two main notes is just right imo. The sillage is fine and the longevity is fantastic. The price tag is incomprehensible though and why only 50ml and 250ml?. A thumbs up for the scent only here.

I had been looking for a fragrance where tobacco takes center stage, and this is marvelous. It smells just like the name says. The tobacco isn't fresh, but aged fermented tobacco. The Vanilla isn't synthetic or too sweet, it is right from the bean. There is just the right amount of sweetness, and I feel that the vanilla is nicely tempered by cinnamon. The cinnamon is not out in the open, but lurking behind and smoothing everything out.

Dirty Vanilla scent. The tobacco gives the vanilla a "naughty" side. Great sillage and longevity, however the scent isn't all that inticing...

Mikeperez23 has written accurately about Tobacco Vanille! When I first sniffed this perfume, my nose was highly impressed by the authentic tobacco notes. Tobacco marries well with vanilla too, so this combo is an easy winner. I must add though, that in preparing to 'share' some of this frag, about 2ml spilled onto my countertop. Because of this mishap, I got a clear cut, no holds barred whiff of this stuff and was overwhelmed by the smell of cloves! Now, when I sniff TV I can only detect cloves...For a boozy tobacco vanilla frag I would insist upon trying Guerlain's Spirituese Double Vanille ~ IMO it surpasses Tom Ford's version, just a bit!

It's like I smoked a cheap cigar right after smoking a pipe in a crushed velvet chair adn then had the keen idea of spraying on some of Coty Raw Vanilla. I'm torn between a pleasing scent and a rip-your-heart-out high price.

I wanted to find a fragrance that accurately captures the smell of dry vanilla pipe tobacco.

Unfortunately, Tom Ford's Tobacco Vanille is the smell of wet, almost decomposing tobacco with a bourbon-like alcoholic vanilla note. I found it quite stomach-turning.

Very hard not to like this scent. The vanilla and sweetness is perfectly balanced with the use of tobacco. It truly does smell like good pipe tobacco. It's one of those scents that after I tried, immediately went to get a sample of the stuff. My favorite so far from the line.

This was one of the first of Tom Ford Private Blends that I instantly loved.

It is sweet, spicy and comfortable and yet still manages to be formal and luxurious. What I love most about this scent, is the olfactory association I have with this scent: pipe tobacco. The smell is not someone smoking a pipe (TV has no 'smoke' notes) rather the smell of the unlit pipe tobacco itself. It conjures up visions of a distinguished gentleman, masculinity and heritage. It is also just sweet enough to keep the tobacco accord from smelling too sour or harsh.

I must wear TV lightly applied (it lasts exceedingly long) and in cooler temperatures (somehow wearing this in the heat/humidity proved nausea inducing). In addition, the scent is extremely linear. Tobacco, then vanilla, and then spices (that remind me of gingerbread), a very quick whiff of dried prune and then a slight beeswax accord - and that's it.

Fans of Spiritueuse Double Vanille by Guerlain or Ambre Narguile by Hermes should try this one.

smooth and silky in the Tom Ford style this is a luxury fragrance that says close to the skin forever. Traces left at 24 hours. A beautiful blend of rich tobacco and highest quality vanilla compete on an equal basis. I like a fragrance that projects more to satisfy myself but if I came into intimate contact with this fragrance on another I would be joyous.

very expensive for what this is...and an interesting blend of pure powdery vanille and gentle tobacco overnotes.
this one does last but i am not sure that if you like Vanilla then Angel is your scent...as it is mine. however a certainly different style and fragrance. Resiliant and unusual. Not sure it warrants such a high price.

Sweet, but not with an untolerable cheap and childish vanilla sweetness. It's more like "adult candy", rich and boozy. The tobacco is not just tobacco leaves but has a smoky quality too, which also makes the scent a bit drier and less gourmandy. Like smoking cherry pipe tobacco or perhaps a sugared clove cigarette.
