Apple juice from concentrate. No pulp, and certainly no dirt – that wonderful contribution of Christopher Brosius' to the perfumer's palette. This fragrance would improve dramatically with a rotten apple in the bushel; it shouldn't be this clean and a better name for it would be 'Gathered, Pasteurised, Apples'.

This is a review of the absolute:

Gathering Apples is my favorite of the CB I Hate Perfume line, and probably only because some of my happiest memories involve apple picking in the fall as a kid. Granted, Gathering Apples does smell very, very close to the real thing - it's probably one of the most realistic fragrances I've smelled from CB I hate Perfume. I don't get anything candied here, just lush red apples (and the smell of tannin in their skin) along with wooden baskets. It's not 100% realistic, but like I said, it's as close as you can get.

As a child I remember going to apple orchards where you could smell apples the whole way through. Apples and wet wooden crates and baskets and the smell of paper bags. I don't really get these smells. There is a significant apple note that carries through and does smell very fresh and very real. It doesn't smell like candied or sugared or super sweet apples. Just the smell of wet apples and a lil musty smell that, I imagine is the wood!?!?

I agree with the second of the preceding reviews completely, plus the apple had not sweetness to it, so it didn't make me feel like I smelled nice at all. It just smelled like an apple does when you bite into it and smell the juice. Too plain.

Just received 4 samples from CB. Gathering Apples turned out to be my favorite of the 4. I put Burning Leaves on one arm and Gathering Apples on the other.

My Wife and I proceeded to the local nursery to buy some trees. The female salesperon we were talking to smelled so good I was getting ready to ask her what she was wearing and I realized it was me.

This is the perfect fresh summer scent without smelling so typically citrus. I don't think most people will realize your wearing cologne, just only you smell good. Ya gotta love that aspect.

It doesn't smell cheap like Caltha says or I wouldn't like it for sure. It's extremely classy. I'm ordering a full bottle to enjoy this summer. Burning Leaves was great too. Have to keep that one in mind for next winter. Spend a day with Gathering Apples and I'm sure it will win your appreciation.

To my nose, Gathering Apples smells like any cheap apple scent, perhaps a perfume oil or bath & body product. Not particularly "true" or "real" or "natural". It's faint and watery and I don't detect any wood.
