Nice. A mixture of fruity notes (apricot, melon) and spices (ginger, a hint of cinnamon). On my skin, it is surprisingly long-lasting and perfect for daywear in summer. Neither outstanding nor brilliant, it is refreshing and much better than many of the Escada-Fruit-Salad scents sold everywhere. Since it as been discontinued, stock up on it if you are into this kind of fragrances.
Benghal is a feminine sheer spicy fruity floral and a perfect veil for summer heat. I adore this fragrance and I wish Lancôme would make this a permanent seasonal re-issue. Benghal opens with an intense but translucent aroma of ginger, red berries, peachy osmanthus, and jammy apricot with a creamy sandalwood base emerging later. It’s easy to imagine a warm wind blowing across a sunlit shimmering beach while sipping a fruity tropical drink in an exotic locale while wearing Benghal. This eau de toilette has only average staying power and I could easily see finishing a bottle over the summer (hint Lancôme).
A web search credits Benghal to Christine Nagel, love her!!!!
First blast is lots of ginger, which is great for me! Refreshing and tea-like. Soon after that mildly spicy ginger settles there is a distinct and sweet juicy peach note that lasts and lasts. The jasmine is in there, mixing with that excellent combo of ginger/peach...I really like this fresh and very fruity floral, comes across bright, it will be great in the heat of summer!
I'm a Lancome fan and picked this up at Marshall's - unsniffed -cuz it was such a deal even though I knew nothing about it!!
Lucked out. First whiff seemed plummy and spicy with a a lovely whisper of jasmine. The osmanthus - one of my fave notes - then appeared and they all settled in to play in a sandalwood box. No hint of the musk and only the suggestion of citrus on moi.
I'm giving it a thumbs up even though the longevity is not great and it is sadly discontinued.
