A nice concoction of clean cedarwood and peppery-incense with citrus hints on top that strikes as a more refined and smoother version of Gucci Rush For Men or Let Me Play The Lion. Not bad but nowhere close to justify the price tag.

Close to the skin, average lasting power.

UN PARFUM DES SENS ET BOIS could easily have been launched as a member of the Hermès JARDIN series. The dominant opening notes of this streamlined composition are, to my nose, cedar, ginger, and pepper. I smell zero violet and initially only a touch of incense, which however does become somewhat more marked over time, relative to the more dominant opening notes. This is a smooth, pleasing, and subtle fragrance which might well appeal to those who dislike the fruit notes in some members of the JARDIN series.

Although I have nothing particularly against this fragrance, I also don't really find it all that compelling--perhaps it's a bit too understated for me? It's certainly fine, for what it is: a fairly linear, low-key, and slightly spicy woody scent.

Notes: white violet, black papper, ginger, elemi, Chinese cedarwood
This is a great scent, in the gentle woody-spice category. The florals are attractive; soft but not sweet or heavy. The pepper is rendered very accurately and is excellent. The cedar is marvelous, giving the impression of a cedar chest full of spices. At times there is an interesting salty note, like salty skin. Good longevity here. I like this and recommend it. (Note: not to be confused with Miller Harris’ En Sens de Bois which is also very good.)

Fresh, sophisticated, cedarwoods that subtle and not too intrusive. Stays close to the skin but sticks around for a while. Very nice and good for the office.

I thought this was really beautiful, woody, natural, kind of shimmering and changing. Not solid wood, but woods in a fairytale.
    But it's barely perceptible.
I only have a sample, so I couldn't really spray it on but I imagine you'd have to really douse yourself to feel satisfied.

Fresh and woody without smelling artificial. I smelled this and liked it even better on my skin than on paper. Speaking of skin, I want to say that this smells like a skin scent; yet it has a definite, if subdued projection. I think it will be good for daytime and casual wear, especially in cool to mild weather. The standout in this one is the elemi, which subtly takes the edge off the ginger, and which also hangs around longer than you would expect for a top note, wafting in and out all during the ride.
