What a disappointment. I had read a great deal about this fragrance in anticipation of trying it. When I got the chance to do so at Neiman’s, I was both surprised and disappointed. Surprised because the fragrance is MUCH lighter than I had expected, which isn’t a bad thing. Actually, both the overall fragrance is light, and so is the coconut in it (corpa & toddy). I was disappointed, however, because the fragrance was not at all aquatic, airy, or tropical to me. Actually, it mostly reminded me of a musky, old-man aftershave smell. There is something inherently warm about it, probably because of its creaminess, but so what? If this is what the Virgin Islands smell like, count me out.

A big shot of lime and pencils! Top notes definitely wake you up, that's for sure. After 30 mins, it softened, losing the sharpness, and I could really smell the coconut.... sad to say for the remaining hours I was left with a boring, furniture polish type smell, not unpleasant, but certainly not evocative or emotional. The type of smell that makes a room smell quite nice (in a tickle your nose sneezy type of way), but you wouldn't want on your body.

Terrible.

It smells just like chap coconut/sugar room sprays. It has a very inhumane, unnatural, and demode feeling to it. I tested it, I detested it, and later I had to spend a whole night with a guy who was wearing it. It is simply terrible to my nose, because it doesn't even smell like sunscreen or deserts in which coconut note are most apparent. No, this smells very generic.

I really don't like it, because it is just not a sophisticated scent. It is not deep, or well-thought out. It is just so lazy. I believe Creed is a company that puts out mostly mundane scents, but because of their price points and so-called exclusivity, they believe they can get away with a devastating lack of originality and finesse.

Yes, 'the expensive juices in the flask' still look cool, but they no longer carry sophistication they once did.

I have to agree with Vibert, found it very much like suntan lotion, and also a bit feminine for me.

This was a blind buy, those notes just sounded too good, big mistake! Definitely the SMW note in there, but not as interesting. The lime becomes too cloying and the coconut annoying. A tad over rated.

It's unfortunate that I have to write my first review here about my disappointment with Creed's Virgin Island Water.

I'm going to make it short and direct: The sweet coconut smell on this fragrance is just too overpowering. There is not even a hint of subtlety on the coconut smell. Sure, my sense of smell is not that sophisticated to pick out the rest of the ingredients of this fragrance...but so are a lot of people!

I'm sorry, but unless you will be on the beach all day for summer walk, I cannot think of any other occasion where this fragrance is appropriate.

Oh, and one more thing: it doesn't last very long, either.

I'm afraid that only Filipinos will understand this: if you want to smell like "pan de coco" (i certainly do not), then this is your fragrance. IMO, people smelling you will make them hungry, not find you appealing.

smells like Malibu and sutan lotion with a hint of an Indian corner shop

meh... coconut, lime and salt; it makes me hungry. In my opinion it is not worth the money as it is just too bland, simple, unimaginative. Compared to Erolfa, SMW, and MI, this scent is a rather mediocre creation from creed. TRue, they improved the longevity but they delivered linearity. I can think of many scents under $30 that smell more complex and distinctive (Including a couple of CK's).

It wasn't what I was hoping for. Transparent scent of suntan oil that didn't last the hour. Somehow I was hoping for something more blended (the coconut was just too prominent on my skin), more captivating, more of everything! Hoping the new Tommy Bahama St. Barth has a lot more merit.
