This is another addition to the massive pool of generic citrus and woody-based scents out there. The whole citrus-musk/wood theme has been overdone since CK One. The opening citrus notes fade away pretty fast to reveal a creamier woody base. Nothing spectacular.

I heard a lot of compliments about this frag. So I gave it a try. Not once, but on 4 separate occasions under different conditions. I tried it on the blotter paper. I tried it on my skin. Under cool air-conditioned office environment. And in the warm tropical outdoors. The only conclusion I came to was: what was all that fuss about? If inoffensive, mass market appeal (i.e. sales) the objectives D&G was going for, it has definitely succeeded. I have to agree with Miles here, this is mediocre at best.

MDHiggins, I have to disagree with you, brother;
I don't mind a trendy scent (Acqua di Gio, Issey), as long as it has something to offer. Light Blue is completely unoriginal and, dare I say, bland - it may as well have been made by the Ed Hardy line.
Mediocrity should never be celebrated - even when it comes in a pretty package, but such is the case with D&G Light Blue - a true disappointment!

This is a great scent for summer days! Lots of mixed reviews here, but gets a thumbs up from me.

Not a bad scent, just not very special or distinctive and there are better similar citrus type scents out there for the same money.

Not an improvement on the original. More like a lighter, sportier version. Not has powerful or overbearing as the original, which can be a good thing...but this isn't any better. I think the consensus is that this one is not a step in the right direction for what the original was. I think they may have been trying to put an oriental spin in it, but didn't quite accomplish it. Not bad, but ain't great. Still a thumbs up though.

This scent smells really, really good. I enjoy it thoroughly. The huge downside to D&G Light Blue is that it, in my opinion, is very strong after being sprayed. After that, it only takes a couple of hours before the smell disappears entirely. I have had this last for about 3 hours max.

A very cheap hesperide. Synthetic, harsh citrus notes, some ideas of woods and tons of water. Something overdone, common, even worse than Axe/Lynx body sprays. Definitely, this is nothing but waste of money.

The jig is up on this one. Does not resemble the female version in any way. Smells like shower water, and that's the best thing I can say. In a word, dreadful.

One to avoid. Exactly like Polo Blue but lighter. No way jose. You can do MUCH better than this as far as summer/fresh goes.
All in all- double thumbs down and a sad face.

WHY DO SO MANY PEOPLE HATE THIS?!?!

I agree with MDHiggins. Please people, judge the scent based on the scent itself, don't judge it in relation to other scents, the type of scent it is, the house it's coming from, or anything else. I think this is a nice, fresh, citrusy little number with some woody/pepperyness to it. It's great for a spring or summer day....actually, it's fine for any occasion. Ladies like it, too.

This is coming from someone who enjoys classic fragrances, so keep that in mind. While this certainly is not as good as D&G Pour Homme or By for Men, it's still a nice fragrance.

Very "safe" scent to me. I wear it on campus and I'm fairly certain nobody gets offended/bothered by this. As others have mentioned, its a lot of lemon. Nothing amazing or unique, although I do detect a bit of a woodsiness at its base which is nice. Wears very close to the skin, lasts 3 - 5 hours on me with 2 sprays to the neck area. I like the low profile this cologne projects. I have others that are louder, but sometimes I want something soft and subtle. 3.5/5

As mediocre and insipid as a major fragrance can get. Its imitations smell better, sad to say. Dolce and Gabbana create the blandest fragrances of any prestigious house. I expect so much more from the Italians. It has no distinction when applied, a completely amorphous scent. The sillage and dry down are a joke. Non mi piace nulla.

I really think everyone gives this frag a bad score simply because it's a fresh/aquatic that smells like a lot of other things. One should judge a frag on it's own merits and not whether or not you like this particular type or whether it smells like other frags.

The thing with "cologne people" is that they all have this deep-seeded desire to fill the room with an eye watering, nose scratching, sneezing, musky, mossy, mildewy, thick-arm-pit-sludge reminiscent of grandpa coming in after a long day down at the shop. Everything remotely (dare I say) "trendy" and "fresh" automatically sucks because it's probably worn by a guy who has an attractive women under 130lbs. on his arm..., how dare he...., *gasp*

The fact remains..., if you're 25-35 and looking for something that modern and youngish women will smile at..., this watery start, light woodsy finish is a good pick.

Very light indeed. After a while the smell turns into something like salty sea water and very noticeable "fishy" hint. I guess it tried too hard to mimic "aqua ocean". Not my cup of tea.

I'm shocked by all the negative reviews. This is my favorite cologne out right now. It is such a versatile fragrance and can be worn anytime. A nice blend of citrus/aquatic scent but also very masculine. By girlfriend absolutely loves it also. GREAT buy.

I dont know what everyone else is talking about. Light Blue is terrific. It is light and fresh enough and there is no mistake that this is a masculine scent. It is amazing. I like the original D&G for men but it isnt me, perhaps because I love Fresh and aquatic scents. Then I thought that Light Blue would be too soft and could only really be used on specific occasions where like during the summer or only for casual events....but no, this cologne is good for any and every occasion.

some colognes that I like such as Kenneth Cole Reaction and Calvins Euphoria are nice but are either too fruity or too soft. and despite the fresh and energetic or soft and suede-like aspects of those colognes, it does not also have that hard edge masculinity that the oriental/spicy scents seem to imply. This is a terrific exception, it is fresh, sweet and with just enough citrus (energy) to appeal to the chicks who dig that sort of smell, it finishes with a sleu of other notes to make the person wearing this cologne feel that they can be taken seriously as well.
So if you like light and fresh but feel that you want to be taken more seriously than the guy who wears the light and fresh colognes, this one is for you.
GREAT JOB D&G!

Are you kidding me, D&G?????? You discontinue By for men to deliver this and The One?????

BRING BACK "BY" for men and get rid of this garbage!!! Please everyone, we must band together and stop D&G from continuing this nonsense!!! Next they'll discontinue Pour Homme for another line of junk.

When I first smelled this I was actually waiting for the notes to appear so I could test it. I really got nothing from this. It is wayyyyyyyyyyy to light on my skin to the point nothing pops up! It is like spraying water with a hint of NOTHING!

The biggest disappointment is not that Light Blue Pour Homme has nothing in common with the original Light Blue (which is true – they are not at all alike). The biggest disappointment is that LBPH is a glaringly mediocre fragrance. I would guess that Dolce and Gabbana decided to make this their entry into the aquatic field – seems a little late for that – aquatics are so ‘90s. One would think that with all the aquatic competition that D & G had the opportunity to study, they could have produced a better, more interesting scent than this. It opens citrus and coniferous with a hint of rosemary – it appears to be meant as aquatic: light, clear, non synthetic, and even more characterless than the other aquatics. The pepper and rosewood listed for the middle do not appear to my nose. And for the base I get almost no oakmoss or incense: I get musk – a very light, clean, and short lasting musk. Light Blue Pour Homme is an uninspired, mediocre attempt to play on the deserving popularity of the original Light Blue. There are many better, longer lasting aquatics out there. This one is a waste of time.

This is painfully mundane.

That is just what it is. Lacking character, distinction, any sort of identity. I expect something -just a little edge- to a scent that comes from an established fashion brand that takes pride in its sexual image, supreme quality of goods, and overall charisma among many other brands. You like Dolce, or you hate it, but you know it makes a statement, and a bold one at that.

After the much hyped ad campaign (maybe the most talked about ad campaign for a frag since Sophie Dahl's YSL Opium) with the model's crotch shot, to get a fragrance, which is on a strict diet that restricts anything slightly interesting, is yet another sad, and widespread, addition to the interminably boring creations within this frag genre, that people call 'Aquatic, citrusy, and summer-y'.

More like "I prefer to smell like a Greek salad-gone-bad" to me. That being said, I am sure it sold millions, especially after the ad campaign, and the whole Sephora push (yes, Dolce promotes their fragrances like crazy, and it is good investment.)

Thanks, but no thanks. At least Dolce&Gabbana's signature mens frag has some appeal. If you want a good summer-y scent that fits in this category released lately, try Versace Man Eau Fraiche, or even Gucci Pour Homme II. Both ten times better, and at least have some redeeming qualities over this.

I know it's unpopular to admit to liking LB, but you can throw my hat in the ring. Clearly everyone is disappointed that LB wasn't something else at thus review what it isn't as opposed to what it is.

The strong citrus opening quickly melds into a very peppery accord. I would've hoped the topnotes lasted longer into the heart. While LB might be similar in structure to other fragrances out there, it does it better than most.

Reminds me a lot of the smell of Coast soap (which I used on occasion years ago). Citrus on top, woods beneath, but overall rather generic, clean aquatic type scent. Nothing remarkable here and a bit boring.

Interestingly, I see that Luca Turin in the book "Perfumes" states that this is "probably the worst masculine in production today."

VERY disappointed by this creation from D&G.
not only is sillage and longevity basically totally absent which i could maybe justify with my chemistry but the scent itself is watery and not extraordinary in any way.
I do agree with one of the previous posters that the female version is definitely unisex so give that one a sniff next time you pass it.

This is an overall OK scent; I'm not ecstatic about it neither am I completely disappointed. It is a fairly fresh, citrussy and fairly spicy but not at all a heavy or pungent scent. With incense and musk in the base I would expect it to be more akin to an oriental but this falls short really. There have been worse recent releases, such as Ferragamo's 'F' Pour Homme which tries to be in the same vein. They market this as being somesort of definition for the Mediterranean - type scent. That it is not as I can name many that are more classic southern European / North African / Near Eastern in flavour; Loewe Para Hombre, Aramis Tuscany, AD Parma etc... However, this just beckons you as a daytime / work scent which places no demands on people's olfactory senses. It's a simple and quite vibrant fragrance that one can wear comfortably anytime.

Instead of spraying yourself with Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue pour Homme, you could get the same effect by spritzing yourself with a little lemon flavored Perrier.

This is one of the weakest, most boring scents I have encountered. Pretty much zero sillage and longevity - even below standard for a light summer scent.

Do yourself a favor and instead buy Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue (the women's version). IMO it is a far, far superior fragrance - and most definitely unisex.

Dolce & Gabbana's newest fragrance for men, Light Blue Pour Homme. A blend of citrus notes combine perfectly with masculine woods and subtle spice to create a distinctive fragrance that epitomizes relaxed sophistication.A wonderful fragrance that everyone around you will enjoy a thumbs up

They are bot joking when they put the word "light" on it, last about 2 hours tops and although the frag itself is nice, good for summer - citrus, the longevity is very disappointing. The thing is there is not a lot of citrus bast men frag out there, DG Light blue will do well, but it will not long before people go, not worth the money for its longevity.
Neutral on this one.

If you like light blue, but want a males version, try Black XS by Paco Rabanne - its actually designed by the same person, and the top notes are very similar, but the dry downs are entirely different.

That said, I'll agree with the others. Theres nothing wrong with this scent, but theres also nothing that sets it apart either. But some people want that, and thats OK - but you will get alot more attention and alot more self satisfaction from the thousands upon thousands more varied, outgoing, vivacious and delightful products being peddled by other companies.

This smells OK as a sample on paper, but on my skin, it develops a burnt rubber smell. I think that the grapefruit notes are too intense. In my opinion Aqua Di Gio is better.

Another Aqua di Gio clone. No standout qualities over any other cologne I've seen at the counter.

I found it vile and couldn't wait to get it off my skin.

I was looking forward to this one and today I finally had it available for testing.
To keep it short and simple, Dolce & Gabanna Light Blue pour Homme is a very light perfume with a citrus tone that completely lacks character and identity. Its not an unpleasant perfume in any way but I found it rather pointless and left me completely indifferent.

Dolce's Light Blue pour homme starts off very light, and fresh! Its not as citrusy as i would have imagined.

When i heard D&G was coming out with a Light Blue for men, i thought of the womens in the original bottle! Its a lot softer, and not much sillage.

It dries down very light, and all i smell basically from there on is Polo Blue.

Overall its a nice cologne, SLIGHTLY citrusy, and good for my taste!

I had the pleasure of smapling this today, and boy was I excited, since I love the perfume and already bought a bottle for my wife. Well, I must say I was a tad disappointed. It starts out with a hint of the female version plus an inexplicable warmth. My test wrist was literary warmer than usual every time I lifted it to my nose. As the scent progresses, the warmth evolves into a very light Polo Blue plus the aforementioned light blue perfume. In fact the best way I can describe this is that it is a light version of Polo Blue (Polo Light Blue? or Polo Blue Summer?).

If you are like me and you enjoy light blue for women, then go with VERSACE man eau fraiche...it is pretty much the male version.
Buy this is you think Polo Blue is just a bit much or cloying or whatever else. It delivers the same albeit lighter and less indulging scent.
