Vetiver 46 (2006)

Fresh and transparent, VETIVER 46 starts out a little dewy/grassy but ends up drier/woodier once the cedary incense note kicks into gear. Not much else could be said in terms of fragrance development - on my skin it's mostly drydown.

I won't classify this as a vetiver fragrance despite the given moniker. No doubt it is easy to wear with its elegantly discreet profile and decent lasting power but its somewhat stark austerity fails to move me and keeps it firmly in the neutral territory.

Put vetiver in a box of fireworks, blow it up, and smell the results and that's vetiver 46. Pepper and incense mixed with clove and cedar gives this a smoky almost gunpowder like accord. this you can wear all season and because the lovely house makes everything u can imagine that goes with it (soap, body wash, lotion even laundry detergent) the longevity and projection are entirely up to you. My new 2nd favorite house, under creed of course..

Great Vetiver, VERY VERY VERY woody and dry, maybe a bit agressiv, not really elegant, a bit insistent, but fresh and interesting and very honest.

This is one I have visited many times over the years. I need breaks from it and find it is best worn in the Fall, outside. It smells like buring pot leaves. It's great for walking the dog or going on an adventure outside. In my opinion an exact dup of cdg ouarzazate. I like it every now and then but on the wrong day can become a real scrubber. It's on hiatus now, lol....

Vetiver as a note has its ups and downs with me. Sometimes I'm intrigued by the way it smells, other times, I find it too dry and a little bitter. Vetyver 46 has managed to encompass every aspect of what I consider perfection in a fragrance.

This scent is surprisingly fresh, a little damp, but also smokey. The pepper adds to its invigorating punch, however the vetiver, cedar and guaiac woods are what keeps this fragrance rich, masculine and exotic.

The typical Le Labo incense accord is also found in Vetyver 46, however its done in such a way that you don't feel like a walking temple. There is only the subtlest hint of sweetness in this fragrance, found in the form of powder towards the drydown.

To be honest, Vetyver 46 isn't a true representation of vetiver itself, it's more of a spiced woods and incense fragrance. It tries to incorporate the qualities of vetiver, however it misses the point.

Because this fragrance isn't so dry, green and grassy, it's possibly the reason why I enjoyed this so much. Although I will agree with its masculine nature, I'll say that it is wearable for women too.

The lasting power and sillage are extraordinarily good, but I wouldn't expect anything less from Le Labo. Once again Le Labo has presented a fragrance that isn't exactly what is listed on the bottle, but have got away with it anyway.

Starts off rather dry and smoky. Almost incense like and a little reminiscent of the smokiness in Patchouli 24. There is a bit of wood notes in there and not much real vetiver to begin with. After awhile the vetiver note emerges and again is on the dry side. Not rooty, or raw – just a dry woody vetiver note that persists throughout retaining some of the smoky qualities from the beginning. While it is a good scent and sure not to displease anyone, I like my vetivers a bit more interesting and this just doesn’t do a lot for me. In the field of wonderful vetiver fragrances available, this one hovers squarely in the middle of the pack.
