Reviews of Cinéma Festival d'Été

Throw in some iris and pink pepper and this could easily be mistaken for the male version of Arpege.
Festival d'Ete is very linear, almost to the point of boredom, but it's pleasant in its simplicity. The orange right out the bottle is very refreshing and is a great complement to the peony. But for a Summer fragrance I would have liked to see less vanilla and musk - I feel the base in this mix bogs down the lighthearted intent. I also think some aldehydes, verbena, or petitgrain would make the opening shimmer and last longer. Sadly, whoever at YSL greenlighted this one just wanted another pink-'n'-powdery scent to bank off the original Cinema, but at least this offering is better than most like it.

This fragrance is without a doubt genetically related to YSL's Elle - released in the same year. The main focus of this fruity floral are notes of peony and jasmine...wearing on the skin as the shy little sister of Elle, who is a bit more bold and outspoken! I'd love to know the perfumer here ~ if I were a gambler, I'd put my money on the same nose/noses that are credited with creating Elle! Cinema Festival d'Ete is a great choice for a lighter type frag, close wearing and fresh!
