With the first spray I thought: ”Nice… a sheer and delicate green.” In about five minutes, though, the sheerness and subtlety had morphed into an aggressive full-blown neon-GREEN! of a scent that, while not disagreeable, was almost overpowering – those “wet greens” and geraniums were really doing their thing. It was a pleasant uber electric green but it seemed more of a caricature than a serious portrayal of the concept. I couldn’t identify the chocolate, but it could have been the chocolate that was forming some kind of alien bonding with the green to give birth to that accord. The green began losing its drama and tamed down to a dull but pleasant green – probably because of the influence of the lavender, and there it stayed until the middle florals began to exert themselves. The middle is a texturized floral with the lily of the valley tinged with green. Nice, not exciting, and a little too soft, but a very comfortable femine wear for the remainder of the heart notes. The dry down – a let down… Musk and amber in an uninspired but long-lasting accord.

I tend to like Covet. It does some interesting things and has nice a charming characteristic or two, but in the final consideration, it doesn’t do enough for a thumb’s up.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Really have to be in a certain mood to wear Covet. Occasionally it smells clean and fresh to me, but at other times the white florals and lavender are just too much and bother my sinuses. Be careful not to over-apply or it can smell like cleaning products!

At least it's nice to see a mainstream release that's a departure from yet another fruity floral. I give SJP a lot of credit for trying to create distinctive and classy perfumes. Lovely is wonderful.

i tried this today and the topnotes smell very much like Puredistance, that super expensive frag where 17.5ml alone cost over $200. since i'm not a fan of Puredistance, i'm not a fan of Covet either.

nicely done sjp!
a fantastic irresistable non offensive concoction for the summer.
a light lemony, lavender, chocolately juice that really works well with my skin. reminds me a lot of eclat d'arpege and muglers cologne.
the price on this cant be beat either--3.4 perfume for 20$ at ebay!!

A mellow, pleasant, inoffensive sweet green floral. I do get some lavender on top, some citrus and the green may remotely be mint - but they are all an abstract and sugared interpretations of the real thing. It dries down to a canned musk.
A plasticky note accompanies the entire lifespan of the scent, which I can sometimes appreciate and which really irritates me on other days.

I received this one as a gift, and would most likely not have bought it for myself. As it is, I'll end up wearing it, but it won't be my top choice.

I love the lavender top-note. It reminds me of some bath crystals my gran used to keep in her bathroom.
Chocolate/amber drydown is sufficiently interesting to make it my favourite celebrity fragrance so far.

Love. Hate. Love. Hate. Love. Hate.
Hate.
I appreciate the innovation, and find the scent daring. There was a moment, about one hour in, when I thought it had me. But as time went on I found the chocolate note more and more nauseating against the floral. I also detect the sharp chemical scent Nukapai mentions. There is a similar irritating plasticly, hardware-store thing going on in Lovely, but Lovely is less noxious. Covet nearly made me sick, and I have a strong stomach for fragrances.
I wonder what it would be like to smell it on someone else.

It is supposed to be a "contemporary fougere," but to be honest, I am not sure I get that from Covet. I do not smell any geranium nor anything herbal or fern-like. I do not even get the chocolate. What I smell is a bright green mixed citrus over a sweet musk base, all extremely synthetic. In fact, the middle part of the development is almost like sweet latex rubber to my nose. I have smelled the same notes in Burberry Brit and JPG Gaultier^2. I own a full bottle, so I liked it enough to take the plunge. However, I really don't understand the fourgere categorization on this one. On the plus side, the longevity is amazing (at least 12 hours).

I was not expecting to like this, but I really kind of do...for summer...and only sometimes. I am not a big citrus and herbs lover in my perfume, but I had to try SJP. This scent goes on green, sour and sharp (kkkkklllchh!), that reminds me of limes, but dries out to a hot, dry amber like Gap White Amber and ever so more of a stretch...SL Meil de Bois, but more green, wearable and refreshing. It dosn't stay green or get too "dirty" like most of the classic "green"s do on me. I think I will buy a bottle in the Spring.

Very strong in the first spray.Too green and acid, but when it dries I can smell the chocolate in it. Sweet , girly and different.
Wait for 15 min. to give an opinion about this one. A scent with personality.

The first perfume that I feel can be worn everyday be it office or casual in jeans. Not really for evenings out as there are much more bold and daring scents to impress but this is a scent that I do indeed Covet everyday. Fresh opening that only melows down, not completely dissappears like some other perfumes. With this I start the day on a optimistic and confident note. You can't really go wrong with this - very unoffensive and friendly.

I so, so, SO wanted to fall in love with this fragrance based on the notes, the description of it and on my first experience of it. When I first tried it a few weeks ago, the opening was gorgeous and inviting...and now, on my third try, after having sprayed it properly on my skin this time (not just a small squirt)...the dry-down is a real let-down! I get a mediocre amber cut with a stabbing, sharp note of paint stripper. This doesn't suit me at all.

Let's get things straight ... I'm a vetiver hater, but a Covet lover! What a delicious chocolaty green scent. Works great on a guy, if I do say so myself, and I just constantly reach for the bottle. This is saying a lot, as there are few fragrances for which I am constantly reaching. I feel too that Covet has a development, a structure and a warm comfort about it. Certainly worth a try ... and perhaps a bottle!

Very original! I love the geranium leaves as a tempered green among the bright clean lemon, sweet floral honeysuckle and aromatic lavender. Excellent balance - smooth too. For me Covet is neutral in gender, and fairly easy to wear. Another perfumery success for SJP!

Unlike many of the reviewers here, I am not a fan of Lovely. At all. But, very surprisingly to me, I'm truly enjoying Covet. I find the fragrance very green to begin with, punctuated by lemon (which I generally can't stand--citrus fragrances do not interest me any more) and muguet, which I don't seek out but always manages to make me smile. I wish this part would last longer; but nonetheless its lasting power is acceptable, and then I rather enjoy the cocoa/musk drydown. Not my usual style, but genial and inviting. I can't stress how surprised I am at liking this--but I find it just interesting enough while being effortless to wear that a full bottle of it has earned a place on my dresser (and it's the only department store fragrance in the bunch). If you're in doubt, get a sample--it's worth a try.

Being a pelargonium-addicted as well, Covet is a must for me! So very few female fragances has geranium as a note. And, yes, I can smell the scented pelargonium "Graveolens" the very first minute after application, than the note mixures with the others. The frag is fresh and easy to wear, and the bottle is really beautiful. I like Lovely more than Covet, but both have their places in my collection.

I quite liked Covet's Paris-inspired ad and looked forward to giving it a whiff especially when Lovely was such a big pleasant surprise. But Covet just managed to get a brief approval from me. I admit I did like the initial scent especially with the strong presence of geranium leaves, and the later half of amber and the lingering air of lavender.

But of course, the compliments end here and I was left a little bit disappointed but you never know, fresh and mainstream perfumes like this one never fails to get its young fans!

The EDP and the solid perfume are quite different. I've go the solid perfume because they didn't have the samples. Yet. Don't make that mistake, or you'll end up with a series of photos like the ones you've just observed. Instead, try the EDP testers.

The EDP smells green and classy at first (I told you green is back!), than floral (with lily being the most dominant) and afterwards drying down to a non-nondescript sweet musk. There is nothing of the boldness or originality of Lovely here. The solid, on the other hand, skips the fooling stage of a classy green at first, and jumps straight into the sweetness. It starts as a fresh and slightly tart green apple and hints of lemon, and than it's all about fake cocoa and musk. It's not unpleasant, but it's really not exciting and I can't see it becoming what Lovely has become - a staple in many ladies' fragrance wardrobe. As if to make it all worse, the lasting power of the solid perfume is very poor. Perfume usually lasts long on me, but this one doesn't. And it has a strange texture of glitter and dust - nothing like the rich and creamy all-natural cream parfums that I've been spoiled with...

I absolutely HATE this fragrane. I'd had such a wonderful experience with SJP's Lovely, and of course I was excited for Covet. I was SO let down when I tried this perfume. It's very heavy and cloying, and to my nose it smells very strongly of wet cloves. Somehow it manages to come off as unbearably sweet. The whole experience was nauseating and it gave me a terrible headache.
