Effectively the top fruity accord of blackberries and blackcurrant, with its natural viney " simil-vetiver" kind of whiff, represents the best part of the work before a sort of progressively increasing chemical and laundry floral-musky  vibe starts to plague the following development with its unnatural soapiness. While the beginning is indeed cool, aqueous and " darkly bright" the dry down is a dull and almost warm floral vanilla without any trace of that wonderful initial botanic greeness. A lost occasion, what a pity.

Good for a floral fruity, but not earth shattering. Hot Couture is similar & much better imo. Pass.

Amethyst avoids smelling like Hawaiian Punch™ by dint of the tart, winey quality of its cassis and berry top notes. Unfortunately, the floral accord that fills Amethyst out underneath them is harsh and chemical, and the acidity that was so pleasant in the top notes only accentuates the deficiencies in the heart. The berries and flowers accord is staunchly linear, and goes from refreshing to tiresome to grating over its four hour duration. The drydown is soapy with a clean musk, which winds up smelling a little bit too much like laundry detergent for my liking. While Amethyst is a vast improvement over the run-of-the-mill syrupy fruity floral fragrance, I consider it a near miss, and I’d sooner wear Mûre et Musc or Fraîcheur Muskissime when I’m in the mood for berries.

The black current and blackberry leaves form a refreshing, lovely opening, and the current notes are quite natural smelling. Within a matter of minutes the middle florals and a musky note kick in and join the berries to create a temporary accord that very quickly loses the berries and much of the projection. The middle floral (I can detect lily and ylang ylang among its floral bouquet) is rather dull and inexpressive on my skin although it presents itself quite beautifully on blotter paper and on clothing… The musk vanilla drydown is softly feminine.

Amethyst starts beautifully but it doesn’t hold for me through the heart notes and drydown, but its performance on paper shows that it might simply be incompatible with my skin. It would certainly be a thumbs up fragrance if it performed as well on my skin as it does on paper or cloth.

Rosy blackcurrants and blackberry on a light musky base. Very true blackcurrant and excellent longevity. Beautiful bottle too.
