Prada Infusion d'Iris (2007)

This one is sophisticated and casual at the same time. There’s an elegance about the opening with its diminutive citrus – orange blossom and its stronger presence from the middle: Iris and neroli. The iris is not a powdery or sweet type: It is a bit woody in character while its companion neroli shines forth with elegance: truly an interesting juxtapositioning of the two floral notes with the opening citrus floral serving as background. I admire the opening and the heart notes very much because they are an adult message in a world of fruity florals… and they achieve their maturity without being stiff and formal.

The base occurs to me in a couple of different ways: At times I catch the incense, but most of my tests have given me a quiet and sophisticated green / woody accord sans incense that is very enjoyable and quite long lasting. When I get the incense accord, it is quite reticent and it actually feels more smoky than incensy. I find the incense somewhat easier to wear because it feels more a touch more masculine than the green / woody drydown. Regardless of which drydown occurs, this is an exceptional fragrance.

This fragrance is truly a master class in blending.

It smells like the finest cashmere with a touch of suede. A perfect blend of slightly floral, slightly soapy, and ever so slightly woody notes. One of the few "clean" scents that does not make my stomach turn. There is no dryer sheet or fresh laundry accord, which I despise. Like another reviewer said, you really need to let this one develop on your skin to fully appreciate its beauty. No doubt in my mind that this is a classic scent that is destined to stand the test of perfume fads and follies. I'm sure that 100 years from now, this masterpiece will still be beloved by many.

My favorite Prada scent, by a landslide.

Really disappointing! I love iris, but this particular scent comes on too strong in the beginning, as in sneezy strong, and doesn't stay for long. Probably my least favourite Prada scent to date.

The perfumer Daniela Andrier's comments on Infusion d'Iris are completely true!

“This perfume does not mimic any current trends in perfumery,” Andrier noted. “It does not follow any olfactory or descriptive stereotypes of what a woman should smell like, but rather expresses itself through its contrast between a great freshness and apparent lightness and a type of tender veil, sensual and strong, that envelops the body and the clothing of the woman who wears [it].” (nstperfume.com)

She certainly has created something quite distinct at Prada and after being seduced by Infusion d'Iris, I'm now counting the days til L'Eau Ambrée appears in shops here....

No, this doesn't work on me. At first, I get a beautiful soft powdery floral but the dry down just turned sour. I wore this perfume out to an event and later in the evening, I wondered what the awful smell was and it was unfortunately coming from my arm! After much testing and trying, I found a perfect perfume with the beautiful floral notes in Infusion d'Iris but without the rancid dry down - Chanel Beige...

This scent is reminiscent of Guerlain's L'Heure Bleue to me. It's got an airy,distinctive quality to it , slghtly powdery but actually quite a fresh scent ,a little soapy but it is beautiful. The notes blend beautifully and the vetiver comes through. Although it is an airy scent, it is long lasting.I think this will be a classic with Prada's understated elegance woven right into this fragrance.
