Usher for Men (2007)

I generally agree with everything PerfumeCollector said. Usher for Men is like a chaparral of generic cologne. I only wore this twice before my sample busted in my travel bag, but I got something completely different from both usages. It's just a weird fragrance. If someone were to ask me what a 'cologne' or 'perfume' 'was', I would just let them sample Usher for Men, because it just smells synthetically generic.
First whiff, I smelled something fruity, combined with the generic cologne scent. But the fruit basically disappears after a few minutes and the top notes are hardly noticeable. On first wear the middle notes smelled exactly like Davidoff Adventure, which is a good thing, but I did not get this at all on my 2nd wearing. The base notes were basically nonexistent for me. I couldn't smell anything.
Turns out his cologne is as awful as his music. Not even worth the 30$ for 100mL.

I am not biased against celebrity colognes, but this one is deceptive.

The top notes during the first 30 minutes smell very nice. It is a distinguished scent, refreshing, perhaps a little fruity and a little feminine, somewhat comparable to Penguin Original, but I loved it.

The dry down is what caused disappointment. After an hour of use, it has a generic artificial smell.

Testers, especially in this case can trick you. Many customers probably buy this because of the scent they enjoyed when testing it, not knowing that when it dries down, it turns into Azzaro Chrome.

I picked this one up last year, blind buy, fell in LOVE with it, then hated it, then fell in love with it again. I've received both sides of the coin with this one, from myself/others, I personally don't believe it works well with my skin.. However, smelling this one on other people, it's other-worldly, amazing stuff. Surprising for something coming from "Usher".. but never judge a scent by it's name/brand.

I made it my signature scent for a few months, being as how I found a 3.4oz bottle for $25 at Ross. Great scent for someone in High School, IF, it works well with your skin.. not something to blind buy.. and, I'd worry about it being very over-used, Acqua Di Gio syndrome..

if you bought this because of celebrity,you're a clown.i bought for its awesome smell and awesome flat black bottle! this smells of smooth velvet wood.it smells.....black.have a/s ,deo sticks,all work well.you can get box sets at great prices,well worth it.

A sweet lavender and fruit fragrance that packs an opening punch but then tends to settle close to the skin, Usher is more tolerable and better blended than its predecessor UR but seems quite bland in the overall bigger picture of things. Falls very much in line with the safe modern fragrances of the big export houses, which rely more on blind buys and thus tend to churn out these frags relying more on marketing, celebrity affiliation and packaging to sell. And let´s be honest, sell they do, but to a very small market of generally one-time buyers who either outgrow their affinity for the celebrity or move on to the next trend at the blink of an eye.
Usher does not deserve the heavy criticism heaped upon it, it certainly isn´t exceptional, but at the same time it does offer the wearer a nice, inoffensive, rather versatile fragrance with average silage and projection. It could work either at the office or on a night out, it´s lack of personality does pay dividends. Seems to have found a niche as the most accessible of all the fragrances in the Usher triad for men.
There is a wide range of influences here, suede, lavender, fruits and a tint of floral. Safe, clean and versatile, it does not turn heads but it seems to function better in isolation or smaller rooms.
Usher fragrances may be sold at the same prices as others that use higher quality oils and ingredients, but don´t be fooled, this is heavily synthetic stuff and relies far too heavily on taking shortcuts to turn a profit, but to budget minded consumers it certainly offers a nice alternative.
Not even close to essential, but some men could find this to be a quality signature scent, it has that capability with the right skin. Profoundly average. It would be a sin to pay full price for this.

It's nice and clean, not much else to say. It's really only worth buying if yo can both find it cheap and don't really like wearing cologne, in which case why buy it? it is nice for those who just want to smell clean though
