Went to the Bond flagship store in NY. I was having a custom blend made for me, when I sniffed this offering. At first I was put off, by a medicinal smell. I got a sample and was on my way. Once home I tried it on my skin and really came to like it. The incense stay from the opening all way through. I detect a menthol note similar to Vicks menthol rub. I guess that is were I get the medicinal smell from. It does have a metallic note like is very unique. Bottom line this is one of the most unique scents I have ever smelt. Great for night time wear.

Bond No. 9 Andy Warhol Silver Factory

Bond No. 9 has made three Andy Warhol scents and while they all have striking containers in the style of their namesake only Silver Factory lives up to its pedigree with the juice in the bottle. Aurelien Guichard created Silver Factory in 2007 this was on the heels of Chinatown in 2005, which is arguably Bond No. 9's best scent. Here he chose to use an incense forward scent to try and evoke the experimental culture epitomized by Andy Warhol in the late 60's. The top of this starts with that incense note right out in front and combined with grapefruit and bergamot it is a nice start. In the heart is where the "metallic note" M. Guichard was attempting to create makes its presence known. Based on the note list I think it is a mix of violet, iris and amber that pull this off. I think that because there are times I feel like I get one of those notes but then the metal accord appears right away. The incense in combination with this is where Silver Factory creates a new feel all of its own and one which feels like an experiment Andy Warhol would have participated in. Cedar comes in and then there is a thicker resinous note which deepens the original incense note that has been present from top to base to finish this off quite nicely. This is a very good incense scent and for lovers of incense is one you should try.

Absolute MASTERPIECE. MUST OWN! My favorite scent. Didn't like at first spray as I got the metallic plastic smell but after wearing it I fell in love with it. Can be worn any time of the year. Bond #9 will now have to be regarded as one of my favorite brands JUST b/c of this scent. Wear this at least twice before making a judgement.

THis has a very old smell in it, surrounded by nice fresh, new unisex smells.
The old smell is from a men's scent at least 25 years old.
I can't place it.
It also has a strange industrial smell to it that I dislike much.

This smells exactly like walking inside a Hindu Temple, Sikh Temple or Mosque in India. its very incense and smokey. Its not bad, but unless you want to smell like burning incense sticks out of a religous temple, I can't understand why anyone would want to wear this cologne? You could get the same effect but sitting in a room with incense sticks burning and have your clothes smell smokey and woodsy.

Don't get me wrong, I like the smell of Incense sticks , but I can't possible think of a reason why anyone would want to smell like it?

This has a soft, sweet and aromatic opening, kinda boozy. It drys a bit, develops some incense. I can smell the violet leaves (not too piercing) and some good cedarwood notes. The iris and violet accord forms the heart of the scent – other elements simply frame that. This is an artistic but slightly edgy-brooding element… like AW I guess. Complex, quite intriguing, but a little too sweet for me. And iris-violet are not high on my list. I think it could have more dry incense. I don’t like the amber-y drydown. I didn’t get any metallic notes.

When I was ten, I used to do bible lessons at church.
There was this little room where the incense of past services gathered , together with the sweet-dusty-foody almost vanilla like smell of the songbooks.
while silver factory starts with a harsh, tin-cup oily incense, it then opens up to get exactly what I described before and dies down to a silvery sweet soft vanilla incense.
though I am not sure if I really want to smell like that little studying room at church, it is nevertheless a very beautiful fragrance that I consider buying.
Even for the memories it evokes.
The only bond I would buy for its outstanding character

as others noted heavy incense and even musk at the top....i'd call it "stinky" but something about it keeps pulling your nose back in to try it.....as honey like sweetness starts peering through as the fragrance developes, it smoothes out the initial sharp overtones...it settles into earthy quiet musk with amber overtones.....overall a scent done in a much more classical style than i'm used from Bond line and is not my cup of tea....but a very well crafted scent nonetheless.

This is an austere, dry, smoky incense in the manner of Comme des Garcons’ Avignon. As it offers no improvement over Duchaufour’s classic and costs about twice as much, I don’t see much point to it.

The opening is a bit cataclysmic and "everything all at once" -- which isn't exactly a bad thing. I appreciate sharp (discordant) bracing openings sometimes, and this is one of them. Provokes thoughts of "Come again?" "What?" and "Wow." at the same time.

I haven't gone through the entire Bond line yet, but this is definitely in the top tier.

Resinous and incense-y with mix and match florals to create a sweet faux-metal tin can effect. I smell a patchouli-thing going on in there as well -- with the cedar too.

At $230 for 100ml -- you'd have to sit down and think for a very very long time. Thumbs up, but for now, my wallet will stay in my pocket.

Awesome. The incense, iris and amber makes this feel like a Serge Lutens-style fragrance: heavy and smooth with a tinny sweetness to it that's remarkable.

Silver Factory opens with a brief tin-can twang, perhaps in homage to Warhol's Soup Can success, after which it veers smoothly into incense/patchouli territory, powder-puff clutched firmly in hand, seeming for all the world like Marie Antoinette slumming it with a bunch of starving artists in Brooklyn -- a little hippie-dippie, a lot of flower-power pretty. If you're into sandalwood/incense fragrances with some cool florals tossed into the mix, this would be near impossible for you to dislike.

I've got no clue why there hasn't been made any reviews so far for this great scent!

Silver Factory opens on citrus and lavender and I can't say I was happy right from the start. I don't really like to walk around smelling like I am some sort of citrus, but things change soon enough!

After a few minutes it smelled very nice, not sharp at all and the longer I have it on me the more I start to appreciate it!

After a couple hours, the iris seems to reassert itself, and it takes on a velvety finish with earthy undertones. It is more dry than sweet, and more dusky than dark.

Having it on me for a couple of hours I think it smells absolutely gorgeous!

The bottle is retro and modern at the same time and looks absolutely brilliant !

8.5/10 !

The complete notes are: bergamot, grapefruit, lavender, violet, incense, jasmine, iris, amber, wood resin and cedar.

Proof positive ‘basenotes’ are where it's at. Initially, the top notes were overwhelmingly too heavily incensed and discordant (sweet/metallic) with the florals for me. On dry down, the wood resin and cedarwood emerge to warm things up. Be patient because it takes some time for it to all settle nicely on a syrupy amber basenote where the excellent blend resonates with superior longevity. A favorite of the Bond No9 line.
