an intense aqua is what we have here. very adg like but much more due to the sage and cedarwood middle notes which kick in the spice with the citrus accord of the top notes. the amber note makes it a bit sweet but the musk and tonka give it longevity not matched by many aquas. maybe bermuda tonic and burberry summer.very bold, clean with a touch of spice . a sure hit. 04 October 2008

Very Italian light scent that might be a good choice for summer. Not the sweet lil thing you get from the "Versace Fresh", but about the same. Kinda got a AdG feel right off the bat (albeit a bit better), but then I realized that it's really very close to Chanel Allure Sport as previously mentioned. If you have Allure Sport, no need for this. I preferred the L'Homme from Versace with its lemon and oakmoss. It's more manly, which may or may not be a plus depending on what you want. 23 September 2008

This is by no means awful. It actually reminds me of Chanel Allure Homme Sport (silver bottle, not the new citrus one)! Very nice, even my sister complimented me on it. A nice fresh scent for the spring and summer time. Sadly, it's not a very complicated scent and does not last that well on my skin. 06 September 2008

Spirited discussion here. I think that if a fragrance lists interesting ingredients, then it should deliver interesting and well-done notes. In my opinion, VpH does not deliver the goods. I agree that the citrus notes are very good: they should be, given their number and variety. However, I find the middle to be boring. I don’t get any clary sage (a particular favorite of mine), nor cedar wood. All I get is a light, cool, marine vibe. Yes, it is a salty breeze but I do question the value of yet another entry in this over-populated category. The oud (normally a really quirky element) is so domesticated as to be invisible. The amber is dry, thankfully. In sum, this seems to me like another airy, slightly synthetic blast of cool air. It just doesn’t appeal to me in any way. Marks deducted for lack of originality. 03 September 2008

Versace has lost its olfactory edge I think. Especially with this scent. I am not going to repeat what everyone else said about the scent, but after Versace l'Homme, the Dreamer, Versace Man and even Versace Man Eau Fraiche, this scent is a big let down. Because of the the listed hyacinth note, I thought this would or could have been a very polarizing scent that walks into a dangerous territory of masculine florals like Dior Homme (iris), Narciso Rodriguez for Men (violets), or Ungaro III (rose). But it is not any of that. The only way, that this scent would have been somewhat bold, would be possible with a gorgeous, provocative, and sexy ad campaign like Light Blue for Men. But that ad campaign isn't around. Without that artificial 'image' and the usual Versace dream, this is just another aquatic neroli based citrus-y Acqua di Gio creation that noone really needs. On a lighter note, it is much better than both Gio and Light Blue, but that doesn't say much. Versace always creates high quality scents. It is quite average, plain, and very un-Versace. 30 August 2008

This smells extremely similar (in fact almost identical) to Acqua di Gio. Where Acqua di Gio is quite peppery, Versace pour Homme is smooth and "clean." But that's really the only major difference to my nose. I like AdG a lot, and thus I like Versace pour Homme a lot. Not sure which I like better though. Versace pour Homme is newer, so if I didn't have a giant bottle of AdG I would probably buy Versace instead. People will still probably mistake it for AdG however. 26 August 2008

This one is nice. Yes it is similar to others in the same genre but where AdG and the like are the spotty youths this is more of a gentleman. Its a very civilised citrus/floral, nice staying power and sillage. Much more refined than some of the crass aquatic scents on the market. I recently added a couple of Pennaligons to my collection, this Versace somehow has the same kind of feel to it. Simple and refined and that makes a change. Greg 25 August 2008

So we are now engaged in discussing the chauvinism of minor differences. Is this like many other citrus-woody scents? Well, yes! This is a very popular genre, possibly impelled by the desire of many men to smell inoffensive and "light." And yet... Versace pour Homme, while functioning perfectly well within this market niche, is better than almost all the others in a couple of respects. For one thing, it manages to marry a slight aquatic note to the dominant citrus in this while retaining a sense of proportion and good taste — something that can't be said for the vast majority of aquatic-accented fragrances, which let the monster in without then being able to tame it. Secondly, this offering manages to make an interestinmg use of quality notes, among them: a lovely petitgrain that mediates bitter orange leaves; a mild blue heliotrope that bespeaks a floral breath of spring; an elegant and pleasantly winey-floral clary sage note; and a deeper woody note in the form of a gentler oud than one normally finds. This fragrance is definitely no powerhouse, but rather a medium-light warm weather scent that nevertheless has good longevity and decent sillage. If you wanted to do the "citrus-woody inoffensive" dance, this would be the elegant way to choreograph it, with a light hand, but with flair and brisk artistry. 24 August 2008

I liked this much better than the new Guccipour homme , which is sort of like saying I prefer it to 1st degree burns, however this one also seemed like your regular run of the mill designer frag although they advertised it as as neroli based, minimalist male perfume....i agree with minimalist and although i did detect floral notes throughout, i sniffed a citrus like background(probably the orange peel they mention in the notes)....all in all i have to give it a second wearing in order to give it a better estimate. 17 August 2008

WTF another citrus aquatic scent; please stop it i have had enough!! Nice scent but man; smells like everything else out there. Very similar to Givenchy Pi Neo which is also a citrus aquatic. As a lover of Versace, esp. Dreamer im disappointed. 08 August 2008

I recently saw this at Nordie's while sampling other fragrances. I wanted a fragrance that was aquatic and citrusy, but not "powdery". I wanted something like Acqua di Gio, but more manly. To my surprise, Versace pour Homme fit the bill perfectly. It does smell very similar to AdG...in fact a female at my office first thought it was AdG. However, VpH is a more "mature" take on AdG. Where AdG is for men under 25, AdG is for men under 40. The Cedar, Amber, and Musk give it a nice manly scent without being overpowering. I rarely make an impulse cologne purchase, but this one is worth it. I wore AdG throughout 1997, and liked it. If you have been wearing AdG for the last 5 years, chances are you may not enjoy Versace pour Homme. If you have shied away from Acqua di Gio and its many smell alikes for the past 10 years like I have, then you will probably enjoy this scent. It was worth the full price I paid for it. 30 July 2008

Anyone who knows me knows I am a complete Versace disciple and have been for years. However, I have to say after getting this in a lovely gift basket (thank you, BTW, you know who you are), and wearing it today, I am, sadly, a bit disappointed. I am sorry to say it, but it just smells too much like everything else out there right now, period. Now, don't get me wrong, it is nice and sticks around ALOT longer than some others, but it just plain flat is nothing that special. I will unfortunately have to file it away with Metal Jeans (my other least favourite Versace fragrance) and continue wearing Time for Action as my Versace scent of choice. 16 July 2008

First of all, I would like to say that this is a very unoriginal and uninspiring scent so it is not my fault that the following review is boring… Well, let us see… Your best friend’s birthday is next week. (You are thinking:) What kind of present would he like for his birthday? Maybe a scent? Yeah, definitely, it is a terrific idea. He has only Allure Homme Sport in his wardrobe. But, what happens then? You and your best friend have some stupid conflict. You are mad at him; he has said to you some things that hurt you. I will offer you a perfect solution. Just buy to your friend Versace pour Homme for his birthday. He will get a copy of the only frag he already has, he will smell unattractive, and it will be an adequate punishment for the words he has said to you. 15 July 2008

How come no one still haven't drop a review on this one.... Well , i got a test bottle, and I must say it is nothing special, allthough I think i could bouth it one day. First blast is citrus refreshing , it reminds me of Aqua di Gio, but have something in the middle that keeps it strong and heavier that AdG. Something like pepper. Drydown is something like less intensive initial citrus refreshment. I'll give it thumbs up couse i think this could be great pick for warmer days. 08 June 2008

Boy, was I excited to learn about a new VERSACE fragrance. I sampled this today and its initial blacst was a citrus acquatic. I was dissapointed. Then as the day pregressed, I started smelling something familiar, but couldn't put my finger on it...then it clicked...ACQUA DI GIO! That's right...this is nothing but Versace's version of di Gio. Now my dissapointment turned to disgust. This is horrible. Gianni must be truning in his grave right now! Triple thumbs down!! 04 June 2008

It would be easy to put this down as yet another 'fresh, spicy, woody' fragrance, because that's what it essentially is. However, it has a uniqueness which sets it apart from similar scents. For example, I compared it to D&G Light Blue, which is similar in the top and midnotes. However, where the D&G dries to a boring and somewhat synthetic note, the Versace seems to retain its freshness all the way to the drydown. I can still smell the neroli and bergamot down there; this is rare as most citrus notes vanish within minutes. I thus like this scent, whilst nothing new as such, does its job of being fresh and not being in anyone's face as sillage is moderate. A very good, safe buy scent ideally for the summer. 17 May 2008

I tried this out today, its available at Harvey Nicks and House of Fraser in England, they really are trying to push it. I loved the opening, I do get the Bitter Orange Leaves with a Neroli smell, during the middle stages (about 1 hour in) I get Cedar, Cedar and more Cedar, eventually this lightens off and i'm left with a slight Cedary-Musky smell with a slightly bittersweet quality, which I presume is the 'mineral amber' Overall a nice fragrance, nothing groundbreaking but extremely wearable, gets the thumbs up simply because its something thats nice, but doesn't appeal above a lot of other stuff. Would I buy it? If discounted, yes. At RRP of £36 for 50ml, probably not. 03 May 2008
