Dried fish, sour greens, dry AND sweet (how the heck is that even possible?)? I don't know what previous reviewers were smelling but Bois Blond was not it.
This is one of my favorites. It reminds me of braided sweet grass used in shamanistic rituals by Native Americans.
Fresh cut hay is a predominate note in this followed by tobacco, wood and amber.
It really pushes the boundaries of what a fragrance should be. It introduces those willing to break free from their fragrance bonds of what a "normal" fragrance is to a very unique and nostalgic trip back to the days of walking parched grassy fields on a hot Summer day.

I find this to be a beautiful scent - it reminds of dry grass on a warm summer evening. It's not much more complicated than that to my nose, but it captures a memory of a certain time and place perfectly for me.

lovely. very nice.

lasts for five minutes TOPS.

would I give $120 for 50ml (a bottle would be gone within a week. I swear it is THAT discrete) - not even if I had money to burn!

I find this one too dry, resinous and harsh for my liking.

I wanted so much more out of this list combination of notes. I love galbanum and hay, and they should go well with tobacco. The amber and musk should finish it off with sweet powderiness. But no, that was not the case. All I could smell was slightly sour greens over a sheer musk.

Dry but not sweet at all, and anything but bland. One really must pay attention to the subtleties here. Bois Blond is sophisticated in its understated elegance, and as with all PG fragrances it exudes quality. If you stop at the top notes you'll probably not 'get' BB and be disappointed, so if you have the opportunity to test this make sure you let it develop for quite a while. The initial smell to me was almost like dirt - something like woody hay. These topnotes persist for quite a while. When I next checked my arm, the dirt/hay smell was gone and replaced with a wonderful, rich cedar/tobacco/amber. As one reviewer mentioned, the notes are constantly shifting, melding, and stepping in and out of prominence. I'm thinking I should jump on this LE release before its gone.

PG's Bois Blond is a rich leather fragrance that features galbanum, as well as a touch of sweet-smelling hay. Somehow I get a slight feel of it being an “oriental” type scent which is probably due the amber that forms the backbone of Bois Blond. It is not as sickly sweet as Serge Luten’s Daim Blond (thank goodness!) nor does it have the delicacy of Armani Privé's Cuir Amethyste, and neither does it have the spiciness of Etro’s Gomma. Rather Bois Blond is an understated scent that when it dries down, it smells like a very expensive suede shirt in the palest shade of cream. Of all the scents I have smelled, I think this is closest in style and smell to Heeley’s Cuir Pleine Fleur. While I would not buy Bois Blond for myself, I can appreciate that it is a very well-made leather perfume.

Here are the notes, courtesy of The Perfumed Court: galbanum, blond tobacco, amber, cedar, musk, cereals, grass and hay.

Bois Blond is a scent in Parfumerie General’s Private Collection. It is a beautiful, slightly haunting scent. It starts with a very good cedar note mixed with some sweet grassy notes. There is also a sweet blond tobacco leaf note which is tangy. BB has an elusive, shifting quality that is intriguing: it is sweet and yet tangy, rich and yet dry. At times the amber notes deliver the usual vanilla-coconut tone (which is a little too rich for me), but then marvelous cedar reappears and I love it. At the end of the day there are drier cedar scents which I prefer; but I appreciate the quality, charm and artistry here.
