   |  I’ve tried so hard to get this one but I simply can’t. This is, essentially, a softer version of Patchouly with loads of musk thrown in. However, while it’s a very pleasant (and obviously well-blended) scent, there’s nothing about it that arouses my emotions. Also, I found it far too subtle on my skin (and I was constantly given the impression that this EDT is very much the same strength of an EDP). Other Basenoters may be going ga-ga over this creation but it simply leaves me cold. [Original submission date: 01 July 2008] 26 June 2009 |
   | Skunky animalic patchouli blast. Very dark and very masculine. Strong and aggressive. Dry and grounded woods slightly cuts off the dirtiest edge from the patch. Full-bodied smooth amber with some hot spices is able to add more complexity and depth to this otherwise quite simple and linear blend. Interesting, but it also smells somewhat too raw and unfinished to my nose. Something is missing. Comes to mind that perhaps a right amount of benzoin (for instance) would have fitted into the mix absolutely wonderfully. How’s that sound? Mazzolari Lui is, to me, 70% great fragrance. 30% leaves me wondering how good it might actually have been if it were done little bit differently. 03 February 2009 |
