Dirty English comes on strong with cypress and smoky tones dominating the mandarin and bergamot of the opening. It’s a dramatic opening and it is done with taste – it isn’t over the top. As a piece of drama, the opening is a flash in the pan, but there remains a substantially competent and enjoyable fragrance after the flash is gone. The second stage is a neutral leather / mild spice accord that offers an enjoyable natural warmth, and hangs around for a decent amount of time. The drydown is as good as the rest. To my nose it is quite woody with its vetiver, cedar, and ebony; there is little sweet in it and what there is seems to come equally from amber and musk. The cardamom in the base serves to connect the base with the middle accords, with a distinctive neutrality. The background smoke and conifer lasts through the drydown, providing a comfortable otherworldly feeling. In all, I find this an admirable fragrance – one that hopefully indicates a new direction in modern masculine designer fragrances. Good projection and very good longevity. 07 October 2008

What a great scent. Smoky, woody with incense-like sweetness. I can almost imagine this smelling like a Tibetan pipe den or something. It's a very masculine, sexy smell - it almost seems to smolder - but not the sweet freshness you'd typically find out at club. Seems more appropriate for nice romantic night at home by the fire on a winter evening when you want to get cozy. 04 October 2008

The belching, ill mannered grandson of the boozey, yet civilized Escada pour Homme. Pure, fake mud. 03 September 2008

This fragrance is incredibly strong, I admit when I first smelled it off a test strip I pulled away like I'd just been slapped. I love wood scents, and they mix well here, but I was a bit unsure of whether or not I wanted to test this fragrance on my arm. Sure enough, Dirty English is easy to accidentally over-apply, and no-where near the realm of subtle. If you really love those woody scents and decide to pick this up, I recommend being extremely cautious with your application -- staining and over-scenting is easy to pull with this one. 31 August 2008

Grab a handful of dirt and throw it at your head. That's what Dirty English smells like. I wish I was joking but I'm not. I tried two different bottles of this stuff just to be sure. It opens smelling like fresh dirt and potting soil. Dry-down becomes a little woodier and a little more subdued but it never stops smelling like dirt. It's most definitely original, but there's no way in hell I'm going to willingly walk around the office smelling like this. Perhaps if I was an outdoorsman or wanted to smell like I had been outside landscaping all day... 24 August 2008

Sick and tired of the excessive lemony freshness of what everyone else my age is wearing these days (at least in Montreal), I've been on the prowl for a spicy and woody scent that doesn't make me smell like a sober, fifty-something year old accountant. I thought I had found that with Dirty English, being simultaneously youthful, sexy, and woody/spicy. I must say that, when I first decided to buy it, I loved it. It smelled woody and warm without a trace of the conservatism I was trying to avoid. However, after you wear it for a few days, you start to grow weary of it. It's spiciness is a little too tame, it's warm woodiness watered down by it's unnecessary citrus elements. It just leaves a lot to be desired. Plus, it has an air of adolescent obnoxiousness about it; it smells like Abercrombie and Fitch stores, to be frank. And I really don't want to smell like that. 19 August 2008

I like this one. There are definitely a lot of dirtier fragrances out there. This one is actually pretty tame and polite to my nose. It's citrus and woods with a bit of patchouli mixed in. I don't smell the agar at all... This one is a good play it safe scent. 18 August 2008

SA at Dillards test stripped this frag along with Burberry at my request last week. Mind you, neither has been on my skin, so I'm sure to update this when I purchase some. Before sampling these, the SA informed me she liked the Burberry very much!!! I preferred the opening of DE less than I did the BB.....Dirty English had this dark, discordant quality that took me by surprise. It almost smelled "confused" to me and I left the store thinking the SA was on the money about BB. In less than 20 minutes I had changed my mind. DE had transformed into a very appealing, masculine scent . It no longer smelled convoluted to me and seemed more definitive than the BB. Hopefully this will smell as good or better on me than it does on a sample card. 17 August 2008

It is definitely dirty, but in a good way. The dry down makes me imagine some kind of personified soil that just took a bath. Its opening is very citrus, and then as it dries down you smell these beautiful, earthy wood notes that smell unlike any I've smelled. I know some don't see anything special about Dirty English, but to me this is a very unique fragrance. I can picture many women enjoying this one too. Thumbs up. 15 August 2008

I like this, but does it seem to vanish way too soon? I couldn't detect it after 3 1/2 hours and was disappointed. Maybe, I am not applying it correctly. It does have a rich scent to it, spicy with a little dirtyness to it. 12 August 2008

Dirty English is another dark, heavy and a bit sweet kind of fragrance. I detect some incense that vaguely reminded of Etro's Messe de Minuit. Smells dated and although it's not an aquatic, It's not original either. Gucci pour homme follows the same line but is better... 29 July 2008

Ok I could not wait to get back and write about this. This was just AWFUL! I tried it twice, & it smelled very smoke like & nasty! I am not attracted to scents such as this. The first spray is a WHAM! In ur face thing, but the dry down is a little better, not much tho. I get a hint & I do mean HINT of strawberry... But over all this is just not me at all. I think this fragrance would be best worn in cooler weather such as fall & winter! Wearing this in hot weather conditions is not appealing what so ever. The bottle is nice, but thats where it ends with this 1! 28 July 2008

It looks like I'm the lone dissenter when it comes to Dirty English. I've sampled it twice now, and have been unimpressed both times. Something about this just seems muddy; not as in it smells like mud but in that it is ill defined and "brown". It is as if the nose behind it wanted to make a complex and interesting fragrance but ended up with something way too busy to be interesting. For me Dirty English's best aspect is the drydown; a slightly sweet, woody musk slowly emerges from the mud after a couple of hours. I sampled one single spray on the wrist and the scent stayed with me for about 6 hours with a good sillage. 13 July 2008

This got a round of applause from me for its opening. Quite simply it is a spectacular firework display of olfactory bombursts. Heady boozy notes fight for attention before sobering up and little flashes of spice emerge from the melee. It's drydown is redolent of Gucci Homme II, but much smoother and yes, sexier. This isn't "dirty" per se, not in the same way that Eau D'Hermes definitely is. It does suggest rudeness though, and on my first wearing when I asked female opinions of it, they all said it was a sexy fragrance. Can I also say to perfume manufacturers that those little perfume samples you give to people do work. I bought this after using up one on a night out. All those manufacturers who are too mean to do it are fools to themselves. Juicy Couture got an order from me on the basis of me being able to sample this excellent fragrance away from the sales assistant. I really like this. It lasts well and is a very well formulated fragrance that I will enjoy wearing for a long time to come. 12 July 2008

Comme des Garcon 2 Man immediately comes to mind here, as well as the obvious link to Gucci pour homme via that special camp fire smell. It is a bit sweet in the opening, kinda strawberryish, but not to worry, the sweetness is put in check by the said camp fire smell (amber). I think this is more for women to enjoy. Thumbs up for a well formulated fragrance, but there is no originaity here. Not surprised that this is a 'Liz" frag...she flat out copied D&G signature with the Realities fro men in the green/clear bottle. Now she is doing the same with this. At least Dirty English has a nice cool ring to it, Juicy Couture is doing well. Last long too. 10 July 2008

well....i bought this one after multi testing it on a strip as a result of my co-worker(female) swearing by this juice.....and I must say, on the skin it completely takes off....to me it is a less complicated and easier to accept Costume National Scent Intense.....sweet amber with smoky overtones of spices is what you get and it doesnt alter much throughout...it is Not Dirty however it is sexy and a great summer/warm weather fragrance in the non fresh/non aquatic division. If you want a designer scent that stands out from majority of designer scents and gets you opposite sex attention as well.....then you should get this.....very underrated perfume. 04 July 2008

You smell mostly citrus and cedar with this one. What I thought to be a patchouli note might be the sweaty aspects of the agarwood. It's not dark, but a bit of the obsessively clean and the dirty sexy all rolled up into one. I was impressed with it on first sniff, enjoying its fresh woodiness. Terre d'Hermes was dry as a bone, but the citrus in this eases the loghouse scent impression. Good job for their first Mens scent. 02 July 2008

Edgy? Maybe. Dirty? Yeah (says it'll stain clothes on the box). English? What? It's a dark woody fragrance with a hint of amber. You can certainly smell each wood as well as them together. I especially smell the cedar but it's not like the cedar in Tumulte. Hint of leather I don't get anywhere. This is nice. Very nice from a trashy-esque outfit like Juicy Couture. 03 June 2008

A very nice fragrance it was love at first sniff I love it from beginning to end lasted over 8 Hrs on me. I bumped into my friends wife in the mall and I asked her to accompany me so we can smell some fragrances, we smelled over 10 different kinds and she chose this hands down over all the others and I agree 2 thumbs up. 25 April 2008

This is the first "Liz" fragrance I've actually liked since Spark. It's a bit dirty, a bit mysterious, and I love it. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the amber-musk note that I detect if I dont wash it off before going to bed. Great stuff, love wearing it while at work, but I'm not sure I'd buy it for myself. This is not one for the boys. 11 April 2008

I like it, it's nice and juicy in the beginning and then fades out into the amber music, and agarwoods. 06 April 2008
