Vanille Extasy (2008)

Fantastic sillage. Eau de parfum. Smells clean, like vanilla tea. Really classy and definitely appropriate for daytime or evening wear. A high quality vanilla for a working gent or dame.

I detest vanilla! On me, they turn to dank, smothering, and powdered-sugar. Overall though, I was impressed with this perfume.

This is a big, creamy vanilla perfume that stays vanilla until the end. However, it is well-balanced, sweet but not overly so. This scent captures the warmth, richness, and subtlety of vanilla beans that many other perfumes do so poorly. Even on me, it stayed very nice and creamy with only a hint of that baby-powder note I hate so much.

There was also a vinegar note that became apparent as the scent warms; it is a bit off-putting. However, I'm not sure if the scent was trying to sour (typical of what vanillas do when they come within 400 meters of my skin) or it was some other scent that balanced the sweetness of the vanilla. Either way, it smelled like light vinegar - yuck.

On the whole, this is the only vanilla scent that wouldn't be torturous for me to wear!

We loved this but found it to be too similar to something we already have and that was a fraction of the price - Sensual Amber by Bath & Body Works.

This vanilla has significant floral and fruity overtones. I think it would wear better on a lady. But it wouldn’t be my first choice. Of the Montale vanillas, I prefer the Absolu.

I’m not a vanilla fan, but I loved Montale's Bois Vanille. This is another vanilla creation by Montale that I like very much. Where Bois Vanille was vanilla and wood, Vanilla Extasy is more complex: It is vanilla, jasmine, and wood with the sweetening touch of apricot. I find that it develops well on my skin. The opening is a strong rich, not super sweet vanilla note, and after several minutes, it picks up a jasmine and apricot vibe, which holds for a very long time. It closes with a vanilla, floral, apricot, and sandalwood accord that has excellent longevity. Of course the vanilla makes it seem less varied, but I find more than sufficient movement in the fragrance. Another thumbs up for another Montale vanilla fragrance.

This is a very flirty, flamboyant, femme fragrance. I wouldn't wear this personally, but I definately wouldn't mind smelling it on an attractive young woman. Smells like vanilla ice cream. A cold, creamy interpretation of vanilla.
