Molecule 02 (2008)

I've put off writing this review in the hope of acquiring a clearer understanding of this fragrance. Unfortunately after repeated attempts I didn't get that much further. MOLECULE 02 has a quiet albeit fizzy cedar-tinged start and settles down into a warm mildly woodsy skin scent. I don't really smell anything in the sillage even when I flail my wrists about in the air.

If I have to describe it in one word it will be: ELUSIVE. Sometimes I appreciate its artistry and enjoy the warm glow it imparts on my skin. At other times, I'm just left frustrated with its somewhat shy and retiring nature. I think I'll pass.

If you hang your washing out in some, to me indefinite, tree grove, on a hot day and wait till the evening it will eventually smell the way M02 smells to me. Now imagine that the scent lingers for days on everything it had contact with. If you are unfortunate enough to dislike the scent you will hate it because it just wouldn't go. To me it's a delight.

Tested this again today and I'm still gutted.
This is said to be pretty much pure Iso Super E and about 50 percent of people can barely smell it at all, to the other 50 % its amazing, overwhelming and everpresent.
I'm in the first group, my brother told me he smelled it distinctively from a few metres distance and he was more than fond of it.
To me its a skinscent, a little sandalwood, a little syntheticness and a little sweetness but overall nothing spectacular.
I'l give it a neutral because of its effect on others and because its definitely not bad but I'm missing the show.

Couldn't smell anything at first but an hour later it smelled almost exactly like sandalwood on my skin. Delivers very little for its price. You'll like it if you want a woody scent that stays very close to your skin.

At first I could barely smell Molecule 02, but by the third time I sampled it, it came across quite clearly: what is present is a discreet skin scent that I can’t really categorize except that it is rather like an gentle but excellent, slightly aromatic wood background note: It smells most like walnut or possibly a tamed rosewood. It has excellent longevity. It’s quite beautiful and I truly enjoy it for what it is, but I wouldn’t buy it because it is overpriced for what it delivers.

This is a hard scent to review. Molecule 02 is so subtle that it almost disappears into the background, but doesn't. This smells like clean, sun-kissed skin mixed with ocean breeze, that stays very close to the skin.
