Opens with a lot of frankincense and a candied/jam-like note of rose and I’m guessing a bit of clementine. Stays pretty linear the whole time. I feel that this is far more “red” and “embery” than Tauer's Incense Extreme, which to my nose, was very ashy. I enjoyed experiencing Incense Rose, but at the end of the day, I found myself not really crazy about it. Also, it’s not comforting, nor do I like the character. It's not like IR is annoying or not enjoyable, but it just doesn't do anything for me. Perhaps I feel this way because I'm subconsciously comparing it to Tauer's masterpiece, L'air du Desert Marocain. Either way, Incense Rose just doesn’t put me into a mind state I enjoy, like say, no. 88 or LdDM do. Although it does smell good, it's just not for me. I'd probably appreciate this more on a woman than myself. 7/10 07 December 2008

This started as a sharp scent with a considerable amount of complexity to it that I wasn't sure if I was sold on. However, I wore it once and found something in it that I really liked. Then my girlfriend mentioned that she thought a rose and incense scent would be incredible... DING, I grabbed the rest of my sample and told her to try it. She fell in love with it, as did I. It's now her favorite fragrance and I really do enjoy it. It's intoxicating. It shares the base of L'Air, but adds the jammy, sharp rose to the top with some more incense notes throughout. It's really wonderfully crafted, has a perfect sillage that only informs but does not overwhelm, and is unlike anything else. It's almost nothing like Incense Extreme (which I share Trebor's opinion on). 26 September 2008

I loved Maroc, don't care for this one. I was expecting more rose, I don't smell rose at all. I do smell cedar, and...licorice, lots of licorice, like licorice candy nesting on a bed of cedar chips with orange zest squeezed on it. Doesn't smell bad exactly, I just don't want to smell like this. 15 August 2008

I would echo Caltha's comment and add to it: "a hot sunny day in a cedarwood forest with wild roses growing in it and a fleeting deja vu to Catholic mass" ... and you're eating a big juicy orange while you're walking through that forest. I don't like most rose notes, they don't sit well on my skin, but this is a very subtle rose note. The most satisfying Tauer for me next to L'air du Desert ... and I do consider it bottleworthy. I don't get YSL Opium out of it, or anything potpourri-like (maybe that's the rose?): it's ocmplex, satisfying, has great sillage & longevity as Trebor points out and (most importantly) it makes me smile when I put it on. 23 July 2008

Dazzling citrus/bergamot/spice start, brilliantly exciting like an Ormond Jayne with black hemlock in it or like an unusually successful visit to a Paris sauna in the early eighties. There’s heavy patchouli within all this but it has such sparkle and no hippy-dankness, it's winking with frankincense. Loses some of its character (it has worn itself out, poor thing, with all that jumping) as it fades down to a dust of myrrh. Terrific, not church-y at all and actually not very rose-y either. The notes are clementine, bergamot, castor, Bulgarian rose absolute, orris, Texas cedarwood, frankincense, labdanum, myrrh, patchouli and ambergris. 21 July 2008

A gorgeous and beautiful incense scent. The incense is rich and true, and lasts from the start to the end. At the start it is surrounded by a complex blend of green and sweet notes, which grows spicier over time until finally only the woods remain to enrich the incense. Despite the name, the rose only plays a supporting role at the start. This is a rich incense scent through and through, intense and beautifully composed. 19 July 2008

for me, it's better than L'air du dessert marocain - more feminine, although still spicy, a bit heavy and incense. A rose done very good - not the Bulgarian-rosy-extract but still a rose, still a woman. A scent to seduce and to feel good even if alone. 12 July 2008

After the disappointing Incense Extreme, I had great expectations for Incense Rose. In some respects, this has satisfied some of my expectations (i.e. its sillage and longevity is up to the usual Tauer standard). I don’t get much rose in the composition but the clementine opening is juicy, enticing and lasts throughout most of the scent’s development (which is just as pleasing as the menthol note in Incense Extreme). However, on the other hand, I got a lot of déjà vu (especially with YSL’s Opium PH EDP). There are also moments when it has an almost pot-pourri vibe about it – not a good thing, nor something you’d expect from the (now) experienced perfumer who also created the majestic L'Air du Desert Marocain. Incense Rose lacks the degree of sensuality that I normally look for in fragrances, and I’m still not sure if it’s bottle-worthy. However, it’s definitely a significant improvement on Incense Extrême. 11 July 2008

This fragrance is so delightful it deserves at least one review! The incense is fresh and woody and the rose discrete and natural, far from any of the soapy, powdery or potpourri-like roses common in perfume. In fact, I'd recommend this to anyone, no matter whether you appreciate rose fragrances or not! This is not a dark, murky, chilly, damp, churchlike incense (think Messe de Minuit), instead it's a natural, woody, sunny incense (closer to Avignon or Jaisalmer but even woodier and brighter) The sweetness of it is resinous without being in the least syrupy and the scent is strong without being heavy. The smoking hot and transparent feeling of it reminds me strongly of L'air du desert marocain, but Incense rosé is sweeter and not as spicy or dry. If L'air du desert marocain is (of course) a hot sunny day in the desert, then Incensé rose is a hot sunny day in a cedarwood forest with wild roses growing in it and a fleeting deja vu to Catholic mass. 04 June 2008
