Among the good vetivers this is my least favourite which means that is good but not exactly up my alley. Lots of citruses (mainly grapefruit) and some "green" tobacco make of Le Viteiver a fresh interpretation on the main theme. Overall this composition has an old-fashioned vibe which is usually a "pro" for me, but in this case turns to be a "con". It smells like something Guerlain could have made but it's not (expecially the grapefruit opening which reminds me of Aqua Allegoria Pamplelune). Whenever I look for a fresh vetiver I directly go for Guerlain's.

    Moderate lasting power.

Funky bottle and box. To me this is a clone of Guerlain Vetiver. It has the same somewhat heavy tobacco-leaf and soapy vibe, the latter aspect is due to the sweet rendition of myrrh. I prefer vetiver either as light/citrus (Givenchy) or green-perky (Mugler Cologne) or even dark and rootsy. This is none of those.

A good vetiver to me - it's mainly vetiver with touch of tobacco . I am hard pushed to smell anything else. Begins strong vetiver and mellows out to more vetiver but much lighter .If Vetiver is your thing, this will please. Lasting.

Can't believe this is not more liked. The opening rush of mandarin and grapefruit, quickly followed by cloves and nutmeg is wonderful. The vetiver note is a killer. The drydown isn't that incensey to me, but more of a vetiver, wood and tobacco mix. The whole fragrance reeks of freshness and I prefer it to the rather overhyped Guerlain. Lasts for hours and hours on me, but I have very receptive skin (it seems).

I have on one hand Guerlain 'Vetyver' and Lubin 'Le Vetyver' on the other, so here goes..!
For purity and long lasting "vetyverishness" the Guerlain is the better. Soft, clean, citrus fresh and considered rightly the best available.
The Lubin is much darker though and very, very interesting.
It has an almost lapsangsouchong tea note to the oakmoss underneath and a nose tingleing peppery spicyness through out.
The oakmoss is very strong and almost obscures the vetyver note but it reappears and catches you making you go back for an extra sniff.
When I first had it on I was rather taken aback as it is so unusual and not the usual "vetyver" and I wondered if it was going to singe my nose with hatefull synthetic woods after a few minutes making me get out the scrubbing brush but no, it developed and has kept me hooked ever since.
Now, I have to say that I am biased here as I have already have gone through two 125ml bottles of the Lubin and only 3/4 of a 75ml bottle of the Guerlain...!
The reason? It is just more interesting. The quality of materials used is high, it is very well balanced, stuffed full of oakmoss and ever so slightly wierd!
In short, I love it and long may it last!
