Reviews of Twilight - The Lovely Collection (2009)

A mass market amber fragrance that is 'middle of the road' but get this: the price is cheap, and it's available at Kohl's. So if your'e looking for a decent amber that won't run you broke, twilight is nice enough.

As a fan of the original Lovely and of jasmine, I thought I'd keep an open mind on this. Sadly, Twilight is one of the more dull fragrances I've tried in a while. It was hard to sort out any notes in the top and middle, although I do get some amber and sandalwood in the base. Simple, somewhat linear, simple, and ultimately a snoozefest. On the other hand, I suppose it could have been worse.

Covet + Incense and Sandalwood. The best of the trio.

The Lovely Collection has arrived in stores without any fanfare, unlike the massive amount of press accorded the introduction of the original SJP perfume. Will this trio do as well as Lovely, especialy without Oprah's endorsement...?

Anyway, I tried them all, and this one was by far my favorite. The other two were just...eh.

With Twilight, I'm thinking this is so familiar...where have I smelled this before? Finally, it came to me - it's is a watered down, simpler version of Bulgari's Jasmin Noir, at a cheaper price. Nice, but not intoxicating. I have Jasmin Noir, so wouldn't buy this one, but if I didn't have it and wanted a less expensive, less refined, but still good-smelling version of Jasmin Noir, I would consider adding this to my perfume stash.

On second thought, I'd probably save up for the real thing.
