I own this one for a wile now and I have to say this is the best "clean" fragrance I've ever smelled. I usually don't go for such fragrances. It's not unique at all but in other ways it is.
Today this is a rare masterpiece and I always have a bottle of is.

Here are the official product fragrance notes --
Top: Tangerine, bergamot, coriander, nutmeg, cardamom, apple, pineapple, melon
Mid: Orange blossom, jasmine, lily of the valley, violet leaves, "sea breeze"
Base: Leather and suede skin, musk, amber, vetyver, tonka beans, oakmoss, cedarwood, sandalwood, orris root
What DOESN'T this have in it? Just your basic citrus - spice - fruit - floral - wood - leathery/musk/moss combo.
Predictably sweet and fruity, like a hard candy. Gets musky and powdery.
Don't get much of a marine note, despite the blue colour and "sea breeze" note.
Smooth, rather banal in my opinion. And much too sweet. Uggh.
If you've tried Canali Black Diamond or Canali Men, you basically know what you're in for. Each of these fragrances share not only a similar, pyramid shaped bottle (and incidentally, Summer Night has the most striking bottle of the group), but also the rich, soapy leather backdrop. In fact, if you look at the ingredient lists for each, they're pretty similar from top to bottom.
Like a group of siblings, they all have their individual traits to go along with their commonalities. For its part, Summer Night is the younger, playful one of the bunch. With the pineapple and melon leading the way, it emphasizes its fruit tones while still maintaining an air of sophistication. It all comes together nicely into a mature, classy cocktail...letting people know that while you may appreciate the finer things, it doesn't mean you can't still have a bit of fun.
Canali Summer Night seems to be a rather overlooked fragrance. Even on my own fragrance shelf it sits there in the back unobtrusively. I pulled it out today and spritzed some on, so figured it was a good time to share my thoughts.
The bottle is beautiful, first of all. I got Summer Night as a tester, but it included the cap and the "not for retail" label was a sticker that was easily removed. This is actually the case for all Canali testers I've had in the past. The bottle is a typical Canali shape with a deep blue to aqua gradient. The cap is a sort of iridescent silver, which doesn't come through so well on the pics.
The juice itself opens with a fruity blast, but not too sweet. I can smell the pineapple immediately. The midtones are a light pleasant floral with the the more animalic and musky basenotes just poking through gently give it that slight masculine edge. All in all not a super unique fragrance, but very pleasant, and appropriate for long walks on the beach. It doesn't smell like ocean, but would compliment an oceanic breeze nicely.
Longevity is average. It hangs around and makes itself known randomly. I keep a 5mL spritzer with me when I wear, so can refresh any time.
A gossamer version of Black Diamond. That "salad" of ingredients creates a misty and flirtatious beauty of a fragrance. A sensuously evocative deja vu. I love it!
