I have to admit that I was skeptical of all the "pure pepper" reviews. Plus, I like dry pepper notes. But come on Burberry, I like pepper...but within reason! After about 10 seconds of a green opening, it smells like ground black pepper and nothing else. It dries down in 20 minutes to - wait for it - nothing. Not even a bland woody cedar base. And I usually don't have longevity problems. Get your act together, Burberry.

Peppery notes covering everything else,it could be nice and long lasting but to me
its this peppery so intense to like it.

There's a lotta pepper in here. I think it's a bold scent that could become easily overwhelming. It's very attractive but I wish it was toned down just a notch. The pepper note is especially distracting and makes me sneeze.

Well at least the pepper covers the violet. Actually 'The Beat' isn't that bad a fragrance if you are looking for a fresh, woody and peppery vibe -- I like peppers in fragrances (you will have to to). Burberry are one of the best mainstream designer fragrance houses imo and produce much more interesting fragrances than all the others at the moment -- I mean you get what you pay for is the maxim with them. 'The Beat' isn't their best and I won't be purchasing as it is a bit too 'young' for me, but I've smelt a whole lot worse.

An excessively synthetic fragrance that feels oily and contains a slightly demonic version of violet. This is very linear, and has vitually no discernable evolution beyond the first half an hour. I had wanted this to be much greener, earthy and natural, but it remained viscous, with a strong pepper presence to garnish the already dominating violet. In conclusion,it lacked style, substance and balance. It simply did not work for me

Wow! Smells great! When you first spritz it on that is. It then turns into an extremely peppery and synthetic mess and has absolutley no staying power AT ALL. Weak weak weak! I had to spray numerous times throughout the day just to maintain. I gave this to my little brother..

This is now my third Burberry fragrance. I started with Brit, then to burberry for men, and now this. I love all three. This one is probably the least formal though, but perhaps the freshest. It does have some pepper to it, but only to nicely balance out the other notes. It's quite pleasant. To me it has a vanilla, warm orange, and pepper scent to it. It's very fresh...very nice. Kinda reminds me of Gucci Pour Homme 2. They're both warm yet spicey...

This green/teal colored juice is a crisp vetiver and other green notes and very peppery throughout. Aquatic in a way but has an odd woody drydown. Very, very peppery so if you like pepper you'd like this.

To me it smells almost identical to Versace Man Eau Fraiche. The Beat is a little more spicy/green. I like Versace better.

Got that pepper/citrus thing going on; if you smell it strait from the bottle, you might think, "bug spray". But this is a changer, and smells very different and well behaved on the skin. Decent staying power. Try before you knock it.

The liquid in the bottle is blue, which is a bad sign to begin with. The smell is a roughly 1:1 mix of synthetic fruity-aquatic and loud, generic, chalky synthetic woods. The fruit eventually goes away. The nasty base notes don’t. Putrid and irredeemable. Beat it!

Fragrance notes: cédrat (citron), black pepper, “leatherwood” (evoking cedar and cumin), violet leaves, vetiver
This has a nice fresh-citrus opening. Quickly, the spicy pepper and cumin kick in. I don’t get the usual piercing note associated with violet leaf, so it must be in small amounts. This settles into a pleasant fresh spicy-wood with a bit of vetiver. At times the cedar is a bit like pencil-shavings, but I like that. A pretty good new frag.

Cool pepper on top, a bitter, medicinal vetiver middle, and then Iso E Super's faux-cedar in the base, overtaking everything else as it progresses, as usual. This reminds me a lot of Escentric 01, that king of "urbane" pepper/Iso E synthetic scents.

You either love or hate this type of fragrance, I guess. I happen to be drawn to Iso E fragrances, so I enjoy this, and the whole marketing narrative ("eau de skinny Hoxton hipster", basically) is hilarious. Plus, the juice is the same color as mouthwash! I mean, come on. L-oh-freaking-L.

Wearable and chilly and sure, urbane enough. One could do worse.

I bought this on a recommendation by a Burberry representative and it is quite a stout cologne. People hated the smell of it when I wore it, too strong and screams pepper. It could be used as a light form of mace with the amount of pepper in it. A powdery, Peppery mess.

Great fragrance!!!! TERRIBLE AD CAMPAIGN. Seriously..., it looks like a bunch of small children. I get what the director was aiming for when he said he didn't want "another handsome guy staring smolderingly into the camera" but to pick a bunch of prepubescent teens (apparently they're 18, but its not like you can tell) was a terrible move...., especially if they're hoping to attract young (eeck.., 30) business types like yours truly.

I love the fresh woody scent. You don't find many of these around in my opinion. Sure, many claim the to be, but are nothing more that a giant bottle of grampa's after shave. It's similar in style to a lot of the old favorites kicking around with notes such as vetiver and black pepper, yet somewhat different with it's fresh funk. A great frag for anyone under the age of 40 who doesn't want to buy another aqua-something-or-other.

If your idea of a trendy hair style doesn't involve "business in the front, party in the back" (AKA: the infamous mullet) this might work for you.. ;)

I found this fragrance at the department store today while I was picking up some other things. Decided to purchase it on a whim and not employing the usual sprits sniff, let dry and sniff again. The frag seems kinda linear, as in it doesn't develop too much between the initial spritz and the dry down to the mid range notes. Still I like it, it reminds be a little bit of the the things that I love about their fragrances for men combined with White Pepper, which as a whole offers a really nice "dry" and "winter" feeling. I imagine it to be a great pick me up fragrance that a man could wear on a dreary winter day to lift his spirits. It has some lovely initial floral notes that linger in the background while the green and citrus notes wake up for a moment and then give way to a green, cedar, white pepper, and citrus that combines to form a lovely scent that makes me think of the first day when the snow starts to recede. Here in New York State that is a celebrated time. And such feelings are exactly what I think a fragrance should do, take you to a specific time and place in memory.
