DKNY Men (New) (2009)

This fragrance was a blind buy when it first came out. Unfortunately this fragrance sours on my skin to become a nauseous formaldehyde-like scent that gives me headaches. No other fragrance has ever disagreed with my skin like this has; a definite scrubber. Try on your skin before you buy, just in case.

This stuff is embarrassingly generic: a copy of a copy of a copy. Violet leaf note? Check. Watery musk? Check. Ultra-artificial citrus? Check.

For once, I'm going to blame the consumer rather than the designer. If we didn't buy this crap, the designers would get the message that they can't get away with merely imitating the fragrance du jour. But buy them we do and they keep on coming. At least copy something good. Apparently the only scents the perfumers have sampled are Acqua di Gio, Curve, Chrome, Fierce and Cool Water.

I've run out of adjectives...

Also, what in the world does this wimpy concoction have to do with New York City, the skyline, the hustle, Downtown, Uptown?

Inoffensive and fairly bland citrus-fresh scent. Smooth. Smells like fresh paper and ink, perhaps crisp dollar bills and a bit of cucumber and herbs. A poor man's Bond No. 9 Wall Street, without the quirky charm.

I tried a free sample of it and quickly ordered a 100ml bottle.
I absolutely seduced by the floral heart of violet leaf, mixed with greens and spicy vibes.the whole turn out energetic, very masculine and fresh. Sensual scent much appreciated by the opposite sex, raise up many compliments with him.
Unfortunately , short longevity on my skin.

Nothing especially great here. Very, VERY refreshing opening that I do like - after wearing Angel Men by Thierry Mugler and Dirty English by Juicy Couture the previous two days, the already refreshing opening was just a reinvigorating force to my olfactory sense, and it was really quite nice. Violet's usually not a component I like too much, but it was decent (aka tolerable). Then it disappeared on my skin completely for a while... I was a bit shocked to see that after a mere 4 1/2 - 5 hours, it was gone... then, it came back... with a VENGEANCE. I was beginning to think the calone was just a fabrication of the previous reviewers minds, but there it was... and heavy, too, at the end. But, unlike the previous reviewers, it doesn't put me off quite as much. My pros: Nice opening, decent overall scent. My cons: Buckets of calone in the blend, just average and unexciting.

This one has got that patchouli-cedar combo that drives me crazy. I literally get dizzy after a few whiffs. I'm still not sure whether it's these 2 notes combined in general or the quality of the ingredients used (obviously into synthetics at this price point), but they almost always cause this reaction. That spoils any positive qualities this one might have had for me. Big thumbs down.
