Edit: "Rose" in the name is not referring to an actual rose note. it refers to the grapefruit: Pink Grapefruit. So the comments about lack of rose in the scent are retracted. I would have liked some rose with my pamplemousse, but Eau de Pamplemousse Rose smells perfectly good without it. I agree completely with a previous reviewer who said that this is the EDC version of TdH, plus a splendid, sparkling grapefruit note on top. I cannot overstate how refreshing and effervescent this grapefruit is. I think this is one of the best citrus openings I've smelled, and it lasts well into the heart for me. Again, as the heart transitions to the base, this begins to smell like a lighter version of TdH (spicy green vetiver), with a hint of something edibly sour (others have said rhubarb) and minus some pepper. I was prepared for the worst when it came to longevity and sillage, but both are respectable on me. An excellent summer fragrance...possibly better than TdH, which I find very easy to overapply. 25 September 2009

Hermes Eau de Pamplemousse Rose Notes: grapefruit, orange, rose, rhubofix, vetiver (from NowSmellThis.com) Eau de Pamplemousse Rose is a modern take on traditional Eau de Cologne. It starts with bright and bitter citrus, dominated by grapefruit and balanced with lemon and lime. There is hardly any rose to be found, although there is a vague sense of fresh petals, even if the accord is not distinct enough to be recognized as rose. As with most cologne waters, EdPR is fleeting, refreshing, not terribly complex and short-lived. The grapefruit does stick around for longer than expected and does not turn into a sulfuric odor as many grapefruit oriented fragrances do. As the opening citrus accord mellows, EdPR turns a bit powdery, somewhat reminiscent of its sister scent, Eau d'Orange Verte. However, EdPR is not as "green" overall--the powdery notes are less mossy and more like subtle florals mixed with orris root. Light grapefruit and powder is the final drydown stage which arrives within twenty minutes. The remainder of the development is simply a linear fade-out of this accord. Anybody who loves the Eau de Cologne genre would find EdPR to be not only acceptable, but perhaps also a welcome alternative to the typical offering. Although the composition is relatively solid and the fragrance fulfills all its requirements as a cologne water, it does not sing in the same way that its inspiration, Eau d'Orange Verte, does. Certainly it is a must-try for grapefruit lovers, and is suitable for men or women. 13 September 2009

It would be an absurdity to part with the requisite finds to purchase this, when ones only real joy would be the delightfully brief grapefuit note present in the opening twenty minutes. It is seriously hampered by the brevity issue, and it is almost impossible to imagine why such a short lived product should see the light of day. The dry down, such as it is, is such pale imitation of the opening, that it is impossible not to feel cheated by Hermes for raising our hopes. 04 August 2009

It actually has less longevity than Eau d'Orange Verte!!! I can't believe that. Even as I write this I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around that concept. I really think you have to try hard to make a scent this wimpy. For the hour that it lasts, it has a very nice grapefruit accord backed up with light vetiver. I can't identify anything resembling rose however. To top it off, it's rather expensive. Shame on you Hermes and JCE! You can do so much better! It gets a neutral however because it does smell good. 03 August 2009

Bright, realistic grapefruit that is a pleasure to smell. Supported by a rhubarb note that compliments it well. Rose? Yes, it is there, but not in a prominent role. Perhaps it would be better called Eau de Pamplemousse or Eau de Pamplemousse Rhubarb. Regardless, very pleasant to wear. I get better than expected longevity, albeit close to the skin. Definitely has merit and one I will consider getting if I can get at a reasonable price. 26 July 2009

a very good rendition of grapefruit you can get all the notes you smell while cutting a grapefruit: first the zest then the juice the drydown is very Ellena's style I recently tried Terre d'Hermes and suddently I understood what was Eau de Pamplemousse rose: it is the cologne variation of TDH , a strong grapefruit in the head with the same woody/mineral drydown in a lighter way I guess this one was not too difficult to conceive ... 13 July 2009
