Grapefruit, Tarragon, Clary sage, Amber cognac, Violet leaves, Rosemary, Woods, Musks
Reviews of Cereus Pour Homme No. 14 ![]() silentrich United StatesShow all reviews | This is the sweetest fragrance from the Cereus line. As others have said it's a woody - herbal fragrance with the cognac giving it a nice but not totally unique smell. The amber is what gives it the sweetness which I like amber, but it just seems to be a little out of place in this fragrance. I would have preferred a strong vetiver note instead of the amber. Not a bad fragrance, but it's $125 price take makes it a no go for me. 7th September, 2011. |
| odysseusm CanadaShow all reviews | This has great potential with its herbal notes and wood. It fails for me due to an over-emphasis on violet leaves and very sweet amber. Those things dominate, in fact obliterate, the better elements. I had to scrub this off to remove the cloying, sweet, vanilla notes. Sorry gents, this didn't work on my skin (or to my taste) at all. 15th March, 2010. |
![]() MFJ Show all reviews | This opens with a citrus-woody-(lavender maybe) aromatic blend. The cognac reveals itself almost immediately and instantly reminds me of Escada Pour Homme. There is a subtle milky-smooth texture that seems to be an attribute of the amber-musk accord. I also detect what seems like basil leaf in the later stages. The composition remains a rather sweet one throughout the wear and dries down into a smooth woody-green base. 19th February, 2010. (Last Edited: 30th March, 2010.) |
| JaimeB United StatesShow all reviews | The secret with this one is to wait for the top notes to clear up a bit; at that point, it clearly shifts into an herbal-woody mode and the notes start to rebalance into a pleasant accord. In this middle stage, the amber and cognac notes persist for a while, and then the clary sage, tarragon, and rosemary team up with the musk and guaiac wood. I wouldn't say the rosemary dominates, but it plays a role in keeping the accord clean and bright. To get to this point takes only twenty minutes to a half-hour, though. When one finally reaches the kernel, it's been worth the wait, in my view, especially if you like a nice, clean, green and woody masculine witha modern twist. 22nd November, 2009. |
