Halston Woman (2009)

I wore Halston back in the day, and I still wear it on occasion in cooler weather. That said, I can clearly sense the lineage to the original Halston, yet Halston Woman is modern & up-to-date. After testing, I read some of the press kit materials, only to learn that this was exactly the intention with this fragrance. Well, they nailed it!

The opening comes on strong with fruit & roses. It quickly settles down, and it begins to seem a bit masculine to me, likely due to the patch. It's very likable and very wearable. I think lovers of the original Halston might enjoy this most. I know I do, and it just went on my want list!

There's also a "Halston Woman Amber," which I'm dying to try too, although Halston Sheer & Halston Couture are utterly awful. If Halston Woman is any indication of the re-building of the brand, it just might be that Halston is back!

The initial spray seems bold with promise, but within a few minutes the scent pulls back dramatically to become quite reserved. The ingredients read to be of the best quality. No apparent synthetic notes. Because it doesn't come on too strong and isn't so synthetic as most new mainstream fragrances, I can recommend it highly, at least to the civilian shoppers. For BNers, I don't know that it offers a lot that's new. I'm not fond of Orientals as a class, but the blackcurrant and sweet amber here make this new HW incarnation wearable for me.

Notes: Sicilian bergamot, marigold, blackcurrant; roses, orris, jasmine; patchouli, sandalwood, ambers.
