Really cozy-earthy masculine chypre. End/Beginning starts by soon rooty-earthy and gingery. The note of ginger is heady surrounded by cardamom (ginger/cardamom provides a freshly spicy aura) and by a sort of dry tobacco-vetiver-patchouli earthiness stout till almost the end of the trip. I detect in this phase aromatic elements, musk and seasoned woods while the dry down becomes gradually more resinous with a wonderful connection of fir resins (by soon detectable), incense and myrrh. The final part is really warm and woody-incensey with a virile mossy-resinous undertone (overall very similar to Hashish Homme by Veejaga which is anyway more massive, complex, structured and animalic). I detect (just conceptually and not aromatically anyway) a resemblance with the great Shiseido Basala which is anyway sweeter, less earthy, more rubbery-resinous and spicy. Really a well appointed fragrance which I love to wear for myself.

Linear and bold opening of cedar, ginger and vetiver, dry and woody, on a base of tobacco/leather or some really dark and dry woods. I also smell cloves and lavender (eugenol/linalool) and kind of a global rubbery feel a bit synthetic but acceptable here given the "mood". Nice salty note. Overall I must say I quite like this, it's martial, dark, dry, really simple, with the same kind of linearity you may find in some CdG fragrances, just a bit more cheap. I also get a metallic aerial vibe which gives the scent an "avantgarde" transparency, and a base dusty feel with a sweet note and a earthy vibe (I think of patchouli). Same kind of ballardian's themes you can find in CdG Sugi – "nature and architecture". Nice, and my cheap intellectualism aside, safe and wearable. Also the packaging is nice.

Notes: purple ginger, olibanum, vetiver, cedar, guaic, cardamom, coriander seed, cistus, birch tar, styrax, banzoin, tonka, sandalwood, beeswax, gurgum balsam, patchouli, myrrh, opoponax, olibanum hyperessence

This has lots of ginger and wood! It is a warm, cozy scent -- dry, not heavy or sweet. It has spicy wood, with a hint (only a hint) of incense. It is quite nice, probably a cool-weather sort of scent. Its notes are well blended and smooth, and the scent wears well through the day.
