John Varvatos Rock Volume One (2009)

What I got was an initial burst of alcohol. It was so bad I thought I had just purchased a fake. Then followed by a quick dry down that resembled JV original. I still find it wearable but it is way overpriced. Not a recommended blind buy.

Okay, what is that? I mean, WHAT IS THAT??
I picked up the extremely heavy bottle, put my nose close to the spritzer and got the infamous alochol/cologne smell. Already at this point I was disappointed.
I then sprayed my wrist...
You definitely get the Varvatos DNA in this one + some freshness, but not much more. The combination of the word "Rock" in the name + the cement heavy bottle would make you think it's going to be something...well "heavy" on the nose. It isn't.
After a couple of minutes I was distracted by the sales person, and when I got back to my wrist the scent was gone, it was literally 5 minutes.
Big disappointment.

Trebor couldn't be more correct. The bottle lures you into thinking you will get something outstanding. I mean, what a shame. I like the bottle, but the juice? I wonder what Volume Two will be like. What a waste!!!

This is the original toned down and less sweet,Not bad but I was looking forward for a better release from Varvatos,to me JV original was great and then nothing...vintage,artisan and now this...pity cause I d like to support Greeks! I will but with the original!

Sorry, Trebor -- I just can't bring myself to agree with you on this one! Tried JV Rock at the counter in Nordstrom's, and my few hours of shopping turned into repeated inquiries as to what the fragrance was I was wearing. Stopped and bought a bottle on the way out...

While I agree that Rock is indeed a somewhat lighter version of the original, the rose and coffee notes bring an entirely new dimension to JV's latest entry. Also transitions well from a day-to-evening wear fragrance, with more sillage than the original, and appears to be selling quite well if the fact that only one store in town still had it in stock after the holidays.
