Reviews of Tubéreuse 1 Capricieuse

I don't know if this was reformulated, or I have an old sample, but Tubereuse 1 is one of the most underwhelming tuberose (or floral) scents I've encountered. The opening is bright with citrus, soon overtaken by an accord of fresh, polite tuberose paired with faint waxy iris. However, there is little development thereafter, before everything collapses into a generic soft, musky dry down. Sillage is close, and duration is underwhelming at about five hours for what is purported to be an EdP.

With the recent resurgence of tuberose in mainstream perfumes, (Gucci Bloom; Twilly d'Hermes) there are several better alternatives at half the price or less.

Dusty notes. Dry, powdery femininity for a brief moment. Saffron begins to stand out. The suede note from the base tier is very noticeable in the first few moments. Tuberose of course, is here. It seems to take on a different feel here. It changes in phases with other notes. It dances with the iris, then the ylang ylang, taking turns. Then it is almost as if the tuberose disappears.

Suede moves back in to create an animal, barnyard accord. This fragrance is a chameleon. It seems to surprise me with every turn, every whiff. Cocoa begins to merge with the suede. I get an almost tannic feel here. Or, tanned leather. Tuberose rises once more mixing with musk.

I find this one a new take on tuberose-centric perfumes. It works for me and is a new favorite amongst other tuberose perfumes. I find this unisex definitely... Much later this seems to relax into an all suede-leather festival that lasts and lasts.

Tuberose is the core note throughout, with citrus initially and a nice iris added in the drydown. The base is enriched by a suede impression and sees a white musk added that remains quite generic on my skin.

This scent is not bad at all, with moderate sillage and projection and five hours of longevity, but not fully deserving a positive score. 2.5/5.

i like this house, makes very decent scents that smell at least half part of the time natural, and high quality, in the drydown though they can dissapoint by showing their thin "snythetic" side...

the opening here is gorgeous vegetale iris, the one people would call "make up" iris like in Diore homme , but clean and obvious as single note, perfumed up by some violets, that mimick tuberose, there is very little of exotic feel of tuberose, but still makes it nice, exotic iris scent....in a way Ramon Monegal Impossible iris went, but more thick and rich and not fruity but velvety

it dances on the verge of going powdery, the colour is dry thick white

hdp tuberose 1 - an iris, violet, carnation with no vulgar neon lights , shoulder pads or huge french wigs and lips. Just a shy and introvert perfume that you have to discover and rediscover from time to time.

O.. thank you Sean yang for sending me the bottle and pushed me to do this review !!!!

Capriceuse or 'capricious', suggesting impulsiveness, an element of unpredictability. I am not all that surprised to find a doughy note of iris greeting my nose right from the first whiff; the iris accord is indeed quite a popular scent partner. The tuberose blooms soon after - slightly indolic but far from heady, with ylang-ylang adding just the right touch of softness. I do wish the tuberose is a little richer but that’s probably just a tuberose fan talking.

As the scent develops I catch a hint of suede but it remains firmly in the backseat and avoids driving this into yet another floral suede territory. I’m not very familiar with the saffron note so I cannot confirm if the tiny spice note I detect up close is indeed saffron. The cocoa too comes up only as a smidgen late in the drydown.

In the end what I smell here mostly is a refined blend of tuberose and iris over soft suede, with the selection of iris to partner the tuberose somewhat inspired for it brings out the texture well. Capricious only in its gender appeal, I find Capricieuse beguilingly seductive for its sillage invites the nose to nuzzle right up to the skin of the wearer.

Notes: tuberose, iris, bergamot, saffron, ylang-ylang, cocoa, suede
