I have to defend this one, too. I like it. Personally, I thought the four fragrance Big Pony idea was fun--and that 3 and 4 were the strongest of the group. A serious fragrance perhaps it's not--but then a cologne shouldn't always be like slogging through "The Brothers Karamazov" in the original. Sometimes a potboiler can be just as good and more to the point. This is a great summer fragrance and one with modest enough projection that you can wear it to the office without causing a disturbance. And it's all a summer evening--a bit dressed up, a bit of sweat cooling on your neck, and a drink in hand. All good. Even Dostoevsky would approve. :-)
not even green. more citrus synthetic lemon/orange accord. very bland and boring. for a nice cheap green go with the original paul smith.
Deconstructionism meets Polo!
Well, if you don't like 3, there's always 1,2, or 4
All of which contain some aspect of the original.
Arguably, this is the closest.
But who would want to argue over something so bland and generic?
Big Pony 3 is as simple as fragrances come; two notes and a very linear life that for some particular reason seems to be the longest lasting and most durable of the four in the Big Pony cannon. From the opening spray the mint asserts itself over the rather organic ginger note but after 5-10 minutes both begin a bit of a struggle for supremacy, with the ginger becoming more prominent and ultimately coalescing into a rather finely blended mix that is well balanced and spicy and projects exceedingly well compared to the first two in the series.
Definitely recommendable to anyone who enjoys ginger but wants something simple and fresh without frills. Shocking longevity, 6-8 hours is quite common and 10 hours is not out of the question on some. Certainly given the simplicity this will be criticized for its sheer banality and imperative cloying qualities, and while this is certainly true, this is a very decent simple spicy that works well in the context of providing four different mood fragrances for the casual wearer not yet ready to stop and smell the roses.
I love this fragrance. My favorite out of the four. This is fragrance that got me into smelling different fragrances. Honestly, so fresh and clean- a people pleaser. And really, these four colognes are all meant for high school to college, which explains the lack of positive reviews. However, it is obvious that while the more mature club doesn't love this fragrance, they would enjoy it or not be annoyed by it.
All in all, fresh greens. Gives off such a preppy feel, a somewhat countryside feeling on warm summer day.
New into fragrances... get this one. Definite safe buy!
